00:00This region has a geography problem so rare, only one other country on Earth shares it.
00:05This is Central Asia, home to five countries.
00:07Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Tajikistan.
00:12Every single one ends with stan, a Persian word meaning land.
00:16All five countries are landlocked, meaning none has a coastline on an ocean.
00:20Kazakhstan is the largest, bigger than all of Western Europe combined,
00:24and it's the largest landlocked country on Earth, while Tajikistan is the smallest by area.
00:29But here's the twist, Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan touch the Caspian Sea,
00:34yet they're still considered landlocked because the Caspian is an inland body of water.
00:38And then there's Uzbekistan, it's double landlocked.
00:41Every country surrounding it is landlocked too.
00:44That means you have to cross at least two countries to reach an ocean.
00:47Only two countries on Earth have this problem.
00:50The other one is Liechtenstein.
