00:41Le Defending G1 Champion.
00:47Le Golden Star, Koda Ibushi.
всю.
03:37Finals
03:38In last year's G1
03:40Here we go
03:42The Golden Star
03:43Versus the Rainmaker
03:46Ibushi
03:47Versus Okada
03:57Okada firing up the crowd again
03:59They're limited to claps and stomps
04:01And he sets them off on the pattern
04:03That he wants
04:08I went back and I rewatched their match
04:11From Wrestle Kingdom
04:12Rocky in preparation for this
04:14And was amazed at the wrestling
04:16That we saw at the beginning
04:17Of their championship encounter
04:20What a match
04:21What a moment
04:24So many people in that building
04:29Over 40,000
04:31Witness
04:33The last time these two met
04:37And now the G1 Climax
04:39The tournament opener here in Osaka
04:58They are taking their time here
05:00And I think it's smart strategy for Okada
05:06Yeah, last year Okada's opening match
05:10Against Hiroshi Tanahashi
05:14In Dallas
05:15Yeah, and think about Ibushi
05:16How his tournament almost ended
05:18That's right
05:19The first night
05:20Against Kenta
05:22Suffered that ankle injury
05:24Right in the first night
05:26And it was very difficult for him
05:28To get on pace and on track
05:30But somehow pulled it together
05:32Even through the injury
05:33And made it all the way to the finals
05:35Yeah, Ibushi dropped his first
05:37Yeah, he dropped his first two
05:39And then went off seven in a row
05:42Actually eight in a row
05:43But when you think about the finals as well
05:49Bringing up the arm
05:50Okada will look for the escape
05:51The reversal
05:53Hammer lock
05:55Drop toe hold by Ibushi
05:58Nice float over
06:16This is interesting
06:17Because they really haven't met
06:19Since Wrestle Kingdom
06:21Oh, I was thinking that exact same thing
06:23They have not
06:24This is their first meeting
06:25Since then
06:26Tag or otherwise
06:27It's been months and months
06:29Ibushi was a
06:34Second round exit
06:35From this year's New Japan Cup
06:37Okada, of course, went to the finals
06:39With a little help from
06:41Evil's new friends in Bullet Club
06:43Helped Evil get the victory that night
06:47Completely different opponents
06:49Right
06:51So definitely
06:52Like you said
06:53The feeling out process
06:55Might be
06:55A little extensive
06:57Here, you know
06:58Getting back on track
07:01Feeling your opponents
07:03Timing
07:04The differences
07:04Between
07:06You know
07:06Facing
07:07Evil
07:09Than a Kota Ibushi
07:11Or a Yujiro
07:13And a Kota Ibushi
07:14Obviously
07:18So
07:19Okada
07:19Keep it control
07:20Of Kota Ibushi
07:21Here with the side headlock
07:28And we are settling in for a pace here
07:31That could take this match close to that 30 minute time limit
07:35I got a feeling
07:37Ibushi may be trying to
07:39Get things to quicken up here
07:41As they start to run
07:42Oh, Frankenstein are out of nowhere
07:47So you see how when the pace quickens
07:49Ibushi capitalizes
07:51Okada sent out to the floor
07:54And now Ibushi
07:55How does he minimize risk?
07:57Or does he just go for broke?
07:58Let's see what he does
08:00Baseball slide tried to drop kick
08:02Okada catches him
08:03No
08:03Ibushi catches Okada
08:04And the forearm stops him
08:08What is this maniac going to do?
08:12Going for broke
08:13And gets caught
08:14And run chest first
08:16Into the barricade
08:17Nice
08:22It was a plancha
08:23Over the top rope
08:24Against Kenta
08:25A year ago
08:26That
08:27Severely injured
08:28Kota Ibushi's ankle
08:30It plagued him
08:31The rest of the tournament
08:32Wasn't able to hit
08:33The
08:33Golden triangle
08:35For example
08:35Throughout the tournament
08:38And he had to change
08:40Adapt and overcome
08:41And he did
08:41Defeated Okada
08:43To win the A block
08:45And to make it to the finals
08:47Where he defeated
08:47Switchblade Jay White
08:50And a DDT
08:51By Okada
08:54And there'll be some
08:57Questionable sounds
08:58I'm sure
08:59Coming from the crowd
09:00After that
09:005 minutes past
09:07So 5 minutes in
09:09And Okada
09:10Standing tall
09:10In the corner
09:11With Kota Ibushi
09:12Flat out on the floor
09:22Okada really taking his time
09:24Pacing wise
09:29I wonder if he's thinking
09:33He's going to play it close
09:34To the 30 minutes
09:36In the long run
09:38Well I think again
09:40When you look back
09:41At
09:42One of the
09:43Two defeats
09:44That Okada
09:45Suffered last year
09:46It was
09:46The first was
09:47To Sanada
09:48Where it went
09:4829-47
09:50Just 13 seconds
09:51Remaining
09:52In the time limit
09:53Sanada
09:54Got the victory
10:01Big elbow
10:05Ibushi refusing to go down
10:08Fires back
10:09Okada tells him
10:11No more
10:11Go ahead
10:13Okada
10:13Okada
10:14Okada
10:15Okada
10:15Okada
10:19Okada turns him around
10:20Neckbreaker
10:24Okada's new friend
10:25Is that submission hold
10:27Called the money clip
10:28Here's the cover too
10:30A lot of times
10:31We would see Okada
10:32Work on the neck
10:33Of an opponent
10:33For a rainmaker
10:34But now Rocky
10:36He's setting the path
10:37To submit
10:38Kota Ibushi
10:39Right
10:40Right
10:40No and I think
10:42That's
10:42That's
10:43That's just good
10:44Game
10:44Play
10:45You know
10:46In the
10:47Long
10:48Hall
10:49Of this tournament
10:50Right
10:50Using a weapon
10:51Like that
10:52To wear down
10:52Each opponent
10:53Throughout the match
10:55And then
10:56You've got options
10:57Kevin
10:58You've got two options
10:59You can go
10:59For the submission
11:00But then
11:01You've always got
11:01The rainmaker
11:02In your back pocket
11:05Very versatile
11:08Ibushi
11:09Set to the corner
11:10Okada comes in
11:11Ibushi gets the boot up
11:12Stopped the hard
11:13Charging
11:13Rainmaker
11:14Now Ibushi
11:15Gets caught
11:16With a boot
11:16Just like
11:17Okada got caught
11:18With a few moments ago
11:19With a drop kick
11:19A tremendous drop kick
11:21From Kota Ibushi
11:22Puts
11:23Kazuchika Okada down
11:26Yeah he got some
11:27Height on that
11:28But he
11:28Delivered right to
11:29The bread basket
11:30Of Okada
11:31And I wonder
11:32If that was
11:33Intentional or not
11:36Hard shot like that
11:37Right to the gut
11:39Yeah
11:40It was way off
11:41Real quick
11:42Looks like Okada's got a
11:43Bit of an abrasion
11:45On his
11:45Cheek
11:46And now
11:48Reversal
11:50Swing and a miss
11:51From Okada
11:52Ibushi
11:53Flying mid kick
11:58So Ibushi looking confident now
12:05Swing and a middle
12:06Oh
12:07Lightning speed
12:08On that combo
12:11Look for that chest kick
12:12Nope
12:13Moonsault
12:14Lands it
12:15Leg is hooked
12:16Red chase is there
12:17Two count kick out
12:22First two points
12:23Of this year's G1
12:24Who will claim them
12:25Will it be Ibushi
12:26Will it be Okada
12:27Gotta be mindful
12:29Of the time limit
12:30Of 30 minutes
12:31One point draw
12:33Would be
12:34Problematic
12:35For each man
12:36At this point
12:37Early in the tournament
12:39Exactly
12:41Very problematic
12:43Elbow
12:45Firing up
12:46The Osaka crowd
12:47Especially
12:47If you're Ibushi
12:48Going into a match
12:49With Jay White next
12:51Is that correct Kevin?
12:52Exactly
12:53But again
12:54If there is a clear winner
12:55And a clear loser here
12:56Somebody's gonna be
12:58Looking up at the other
12:59And playing chase
13:00The whole rest of this tournament
13:04Elbow
13:04In the corner
13:06The DDT
13:07Yes
13:09Okada is starting
13:10To build some momentum
13:11He'll go for a cover here
13:12Two
13:13And a kick out
13:13From Ibushi
13:16And just to expand
13:17Off that Kevin
13:18You know
13:18For some wrestlers
13:20Being on the chase
13:21Is good for them
13:22That's what their motivation is
13:23And for some of them
13:24They like to sit
13:25On the top of the mountain
13:26And I feel like
13:27Okada would be the guy
13:28Who likes to sit on the top
13:30With the two points
13:30And just collect
13:31As it goes
13:32But Ibushi may need
13:33That extra go
13:34You know
13:34Yeah
13:35It's familiar territory
13:37Where Ibushi was last year
13:40Dropping his first two
13:41And was still able
13:42To win the block
13:43In the entire tournament
13:47Okada was looking for that
13:48Neckbreaker
13:48Ibushi fought out
13:51Ibushi quick
13:51It's the pace
13:53Backflip kick
13:54Beautiful
13:55Does such damage
13:57Without even being able
13:58To see his opponent
13:59There with the backflip kick
14:00And Okada's down
14:03Sometimes that kick
14:04Will catch on the top
14:05Of the head
14:06Sometimes it's in the
14:07Trapezius muscle
14:08Sometimes it's in the face
14:09That one was right on
14:11Yeah
14:12Right on the money
14:18And so now Okada
14:20Who is in firm control
14:21Momentum wise
14:22Has been slowed
14:23At least momentarily
14:24Ibushi has not played games
14:26When he's had an opponent down
14:28He immediately starts
14:29To look for Kamigoye
14:33And now
14:34Thinking about the money clip
14:35Yep
14:36Yep
14:36Setting him up
14:39He's got the
14:40Staining
14:41Version on there
14:45But Ibushi
14:46Now twice
14:47Has gone back
14:48To the midsection
14:49Went in trouble
14:52Uh oh
14:53Using Ibushi's momentum
14:55Coming in
14:55Gets caught
14:56Nice
14:57Neckbreaker there
15:05And now we'll see
15:06What Okada does
15:08He will send Ibushi
15:10Off the ropes
15:10No Ibushi
15:11Wait a minute
15:12Russian legs
15:12We've nicely done
15:13And immediately
15:17Locked in the money clip
15:18Throws on that money clip
15:22And that is such a great
15:25Choke hold there
15:27Wearing your opponent down
15:31Slow on your sleeper
15:33Type
15:33But also working the arm
15:38And Okada has shown
15:39He can hit that
15:40From either side
15:41Sometimes he'll trap
15:42The opponent's right arm
15:44Going after Ibushi's left here
15:45And he's got it locked in
15:48And Ibushi
15:48With the arms draped
15:50Around the carotid arteries
15:52On both sides of his neck
15:53Ibushi's in danger
15:55Of being submitted
15:56But he gets on the ropes
15:57And Okada's gonna
15:59Keep on that hold
16:00For all it's worth
16:02I like the control
16:05Of that hold too
16:07You know
16:08You can apply it standing
16:10You can apply it
16:11You know
16:12Sitting
16:13Not completely sitting
16:15But even
16:15How Okada had him
16:17Just in that hold
16:18But then you can also
16:19Take
16:20Almost take the back
16:21And put the hooks in
16:22And really hook your opponent
16:23To tap them
16:24So really
16:25Really a versatile hold
16:27It's really a great finisher
16:29Something smart
16:30That Ibushi
16:31Might have done here
16:32Just to roll out of the ring
16:34Give him a little time
16:36To recover
16:40And we'll see if it's enough
16:42Okada realizing it
16:44And he's gonna take advantage
16:45Of it here on the floor
16:47Looking for a tombstone
16:50Might be no recovery from that
16:52Ibushi escapes
16:53And now Ibushi gets quick
16:55Holy cow
16:58What a cabra
17:00A cabrada
17:03From Kota Ibushi
17:05Holy cow
17:06Beautiful moonsault
17:07He wanted to do it early on
17:09Okada stopped him
17:10But this time
17:11The second effort
17:12The cabrada
17:13Drills him
17:17Beautiful
17:18All of Ibushi's
17:20High risk flying
17:21Was negated
17:22In last year's tournament
17:24He had to win
17:25With one of his
17:26Best array of weaponry
17:27Taken away from him
17:29Because of the ankle injury
17:30But now this year
17:31It's not a problem
17:32He's got all of that
17:34High flying
17:35Plus the
17:36Kamigoye
17:36And that's why
17:38He's a lot of people's
17:39Favorites to repeat
17:41So let's see now
17:43Springboard on the way
17:45Okada
17:46Feels it
17:47The drop kick
17:48From Ibushi
17:55So just that little bit
17:57Of time
17:57Rocky
17:58With Ibushi
17:58Rolling out
17:59To the floor
17:59Gave him enough
18:01To regain
18:02Consciousness
18:03Fully
18:04And counter
18:05Okada
18:06And turn things
18:06His favor
18:09Now gonna put him
18:10Up in the corner
18:13Possibly look
18:14For a Frankensteiner
18:16Okada trying to
18:17Stop him
18:18Knowing Ibushi's history
18:19It could be anything
18:20But I would say
18:21You are right
18:22The top rope
18:23Frankensteiner
18:23Wait a minute
18:25Uh oh
18:26Uh oh
18:27This is dangerous
18:29Oh my god
18:30Very badly
18:33Okada's looking
18:34For a landing part
18:35And Ibushi's
18:36Whole tournament
18:37Could rest
18:37Oh thank god
18:38He got down
18:41Waffles him
18:41In the chest
18:42Here we go
18:44Still got him
18:46Almost lost his balance
18:47But was able
18:48To recuperate
18:49Save it
18:50And land
18:51The Frankensteiner
18:52Almost got it
18:53What an athlete
18:55Kevin
18:55What an athlete
18:57Holy cow
18:58Yeah that was incredible
18:59Nobody on this earth
19:02Like Kodebushi
19:06So Kodebushi
19:08Avoids disaster
19:09And hits the top rope
19:11Huracanrana
19:13And now
19:14We'll look to put
19:15Okada away
19:16What a different tournament
19:17This will be
19:18Than last year
19:19For Ibushi
19:20If he can get a win
19:21In his first night
19:25Look at a yard
19:26Dart him now
19:26Throw him into the corner
19:27Head first
19:31Okada switching it
19:32No no no
19:33Ibushi
19:35Uh oh
19:35Watch out
19:36Watch out
19:36My god
19:36Oh no
19:37No
19:38Master driver
19:40Okada trying to wiggle out
19:44And finally hits the tombstone
19:49Great exchange
19:51Back and forth
19:52Whoever was going to get
19:53That one
19:54Was really going to
19:55Make a difference
19:56In what happens
19:58From this point on
19:59Kevin
20:02Kazuchika Okada
20:03Kodebushi
20:04Our main event
20:05Night 1
