00:00I'm curious, Paul. We've talked about Tuck here, his departure. We know what it will do on the ice, and
00:05I think we all know who we expect to fill the void on the ice. It's these young guys that
00:11are going to hopefully come in and make some of that happen, but I'm curious if you've seen any signs
00:16of who might be filling that leadership void, Paul.
00:19I know that it's an opportunity every time a guy leaves, not only on the ice to replace those minutes,
00:26but it's also an opportunity to replace that voice in the room. Have you seen anybody that seems like they're
00:31really stepping up in that role?
00:32I think the candidate would be Doan, who takes Tuck's spot on the line, and I think there's more to
00:40come with Doan. I mean, that was his first full year in the NHL, and he scored 25 goals. I
00:45think there can even be more, even be better.
00:49And, you know, look at his dad, who was captain of Arizona, Phoenix, whatever you want to call that group
00:56that he was with, for many, many years, just a born leader. So he grew up with a born leader.
01:02So he understands what a leader is.
01:04Now, they don't need to put an A on anybody because they had three A's and would alternate them. Most
01:09teams have two, and they're just going to go with two. But, you know, he would be the guy.
01:13Now, I did not see him in preseason kill any penalties, although Lindy Ruff in his last press conference in
01:19May said that, you know, that would be a possibility.
01:22Norris got the opportunity in preseason games where Doan didn't. But that would be the guy that I would think
01:28is going to step into the Alex Tuck role as much as he can.
01:33Again, nobody's going to step into it on the ice. He just did so many things well and is very
01:39unique in what he brought.
01:42You're just nobody has that skill set that they can bring. Now, the young kids, they have their own things.
01:47They do very, very well. And, you know, they'll have their thing. Doan will have his thing.
01:56But nobody does what Tuck does. I mean, it's a very unique way of playing.
