00:00A new report by rights group Amnesty International accuses Morocco of having used spyware for years
00:07against critics both inside and outside the country, including French and Spanish politicians.
00:12It alleges the authorities operate a surveillance apparatus that combines digital and analogue tools
00:18to track, monitor and ultimately silence journalists, activists and other critical voices.
00:24The report by the London-based organization details allegations of spyware attacks, phone interception,
00:30hidden recording devices and the tracking of people's movements.
00:35Amnesty says they relied on the testimony of a former Moroccan intelligence officer
00:39as well as leaked documents and journalistic investigations to compile the report.
00:44It says the Moroccan domestic intelligence service, the DGST, got this technology from Israeli, American and European companies.
00:51NGOs, including Amnesty, have for years accused the kingdom of using Pegasus spyware developed by the Israeli NSO group.
