00:01A Liverpool charity is marking a decade of community work with an exhibition at St George's
00:05Hall for Black History Month. Mandela 8's display explores the city's black history,
00:11including the growth of settlement linked to trade with Africa and the Americas during the 18th
00:16century. It also charts campaigns against racial injustice, the fight against apartheid in South
00:21Africa and the worldwide call to free Nelson Mandela. Visitors can see signed prints based
00:29on sketches by Mandela, gifted to the charity by his daughter Dr Makaziwe Mandela. The exhibition
00:36also celebrates the legacy of Liverpool's Mandela memorial in Princes Park. The display runs until
00:43the end of October.
