00:00Oli, what do you think Man City's punishment should be?
00:03I think the bare minimum is that their titles are null and voided, obviously.
00:08I also think immediate relegation would skew the pyramids quite a lot.
00:16I do think they should be given a multi-season point of deduction,
00:20which effectively bars them from European competition.
00:24I'd also like to see them with quite a hefty transfer ban.
00:28If ever there was a time to really throw the book at a club, this is it.
00:31City should feel the full force of that independent commission.
00:35Expulsion from the Premier League seems unlikely,
00:37so a great place to start would be a massive points deduction,
00:40big enough at the very least to send City down this season.
00:44They should have further points deductions in subsequent seasons
00:46to either keep them in the championship or send them further down the pyramid.
00:50And on top of that, a considerable fine in the hundreds of millions
00:53and a transfer ban of at least two years, I think is completely necessary.
00:58The sheer scale of the financial rule breaches City have been found guilty of
01:01means that a fine is not going to do here.
01:04City need to be given a significant transfer ban
01:07and also a Premier League points deduction.
01:09Not one that brings them close to relegation,
01:12but one that guarantees relegation for Manchester City.
01:15The Independent Commission's verdict is damning
01:17and Manchester City must be punished,
01:20not only for the crimes that they have been accused of,
01:23but also their non-cooperation during the trial process.
01:26The only punishment I see fit is a multi-season points deduction
01:29with all titles from the years in which they've been found guilty
01:32deemed null and void.
01:34I think it looks very likely they're going to be relegated.
01:38I think they'll probably end up with a massive points deduction
01:41that will ensure that that happens.
01:43When it happens, however, is totally, you know, an open question
01:49because they're going to likely appeal the guilty charges.
01:52The whole thing's going to drag out, you can imagine.
01:55It's already become political.
01:57Andy Burnham's made it clear that he basically backs the Man City's owners.
02:02So I think there'll be a huge campaign to keep Man City in existence.
02:08But at the same time, there'll be probably riots in the streets
02:11among every other club support base
02:14if they didn't get a serious points deduction.
02:18Once it stands, I'm not sure any punishment really feels enough
02:20for these set of breaches.
02:22To start with, I'd strip Man City of the titles they won during that period,
02:25not to redistribute, but just as a reminder of the scale of this cheating.
02:29There should be a huge find to be shared out among other clubs
02:32and a lengthy transfer ban too.
02:34In terms of points deductions, I think there should be a sliding scale
02:37in place over nine seasons.
02:38Start doing something like 60 or 70 points and working down from there.
02:42That'll guarantee at least a couple of relegations
02:44and then hinder the club's attempts to rebuild
02:46for an appropriate amount of time.
