00:03It was taught to us that the British built the Indian Railways.
00:06It wasn't taught why.
00:08There were a lot of times while growing up where I've heard conversations with fellow
00:14Indians and fellow friends who said at least the British built us the Indian Railways such
00:19a great infrastructure to the country.
00:22And it was the books then were written by them.
00:26The syllabus was theirs.
00:29But what was not taught to us was British Indian Railways cut in the end.
00:36I feel like these things are generally, it's not forgotten, but it's also, it's almost
00:42like it's made to be forgotten.
00:45We don't speak of it enough.
00:47When I started doing a bit of research is when I dug a little deeper and then just the visuals
00:54of those times and just knowing a little more in depth of what actually happened was something
01:01which hit me like a storm.
01:03India is a huge country.
01:06The size of land is massive.
01:08We were agricultural oriented lands, right?
01:12They wanted means to take the resources out of India as quickly to the ports and to Britain.
01:20And Indian Railways were built to take trillions of dollars worth of grain, cotton, spices, gold.
01:28Every resource we had was just sucked out of the country.
01:34So it was built on Indian taxpayers' money.
01:37Indians were taxed.
01:38It was built on Indian labor.
01:39It was built to take Indian grain.
01:41And this is something that I learned later in life growing up.
01:45And I felt it was very important that our country and everybody knows how these things happen.
