00:19Home office figures show 1,087 people were returned to France between August 2025 and June this year,
00:26while 1,117 were transferred to Britain.
00:30Over the same period, almost 28,000 migrants arrived by small boats, meaning only around 4% were sent back.
00:38Home Secretary Shabana Mahmoud said each return cost taxpayers an average of about 65,500 euros.
