00:00A note and five dollars left in a book inspires chain reaction of kindness
00:13It goes without saying that we all have rough days from time to time
00:16Sometimes it even feels like the Sun will never shine again, even though we all know that it eventually does
00:23They say that when you're feeling a bit down you should do something to make another person smile
00:28This woman was going through some rough stuff
00:30So without realizing what she would create she committed a small random act of kindness to try to put some
00:37positivity out in the world
00:39Well, Ashley Jost was shopping a target. She was drawn to a book sitting on a shelf
00:43She'd heard about the self-help book girls stop apologizing numerous times before
00:49But she decided to give it a try and bought it once Ashley got home
00:53She opened up the book and started reading, but she was soon interrupted by a loud noise
00:59Her dog began to bark so she tossed her book to the side to see what the dog wanted
01:04When she returned she noticed that there was something lying on the floor
01:08Five dollars fell out and it took me a second where I was like wait. What just happened?
01:14Ashley was overcome by the emotional note, so she decided to share a picture of the note and the money
01:19on Twitter
01:21The letter read to the person who buys this book. I'm having a tough day
01:25I thought maybe I could brighten someone else's with this little surprise
01:29Go buy a coffee donut or a face mask
01:32Practice some self-care today. Remember that you are loved you are amazing. You are strong. Love Lisa. I
01:42Read it once and I read it again, and I thought dang. This is really neat said Ashley
01:48Like this is something that only happens to strangers on the internet
01:51Not some random person in the middle of Missouri who just happens to decide in the heat of a moment
01:57to buy this book at Target
01:59People became inspired by Lisa's random act of kindness
02:02Ashley shared the story on love what matters
02:05It wasn't long before the tweet went viral and people were pledging their own random act of kindness
02:10In that moment I didn't necessarily need the pick-me-up, but I feel obligated to share it
02:15And I'm hearing back from people who did the ripple effect is pretty incredible said Ashley
02:22After seeing the viral tweet Lisa decided to mail a letter to Ashley's campus
02:28She said it made her cry in a good way recalled Ashley
02:31Preferring to remain anonymous Lisa didn't leave a return address or any other way for her to be contacted
02:37According to Ashley Lisa had been going through a difficult time in life, and she just wanted to create something
02:43positive
02:43She never really expected this to happen the way it has
02:47Well, Lisa you certainly did create some positivity in the world
02:51Hopefully everything's looking up for you because you've definitely made a lot of people smile with your small act of
02:57kindness
