00:05to be one of John Carpenter's greatest works. As it turned out, the job almost went to fellow
00:11horror maestro, Toby Hooper. As a result, Universal had secured the remake rights for
00:16The Thing from Another World. The movie itself was an adaptation of John W. Campbell's novella
00:22Who Goes There? and they had Hooper under contract at the time. One year before Hooper
00:27released The Thing, he had released The Fun House under Universal, just one year before
00:32Hooper released The Fun House. Apparently, Hooper was instructed to write up a rough draft of
00:38the script, but the studio wasn't happy with his ideas and decided to replace him with
00:42another writer instead.
