Bentley Motors has unveiled the all-new Torcal, the marque’s first fully electric model, at a global debut in London today. Designed and handcrafted in Britain, the Torcal brings together Bentley’s distinctive heritage and uncompromising craftsmanship with advanced electric technology, marking a new chapter for the brand from its home in Crewe.

The Torcal is the centrepiece of a £350 million investment in Bentley’s Crewe site, sustaining 4,000 jobs and marking the company’s biggest step yet towards an all-electric future. The investment has delivered an entirely new production line within the oldest building on the site, dating back to 1938, alongside continued investment in the skills of Bentley’s workforce as it takes on the challenge of manufacturing an electric car for the first time. Fully designed, developed and built in Crewe by the same 4,000-strong team, the Torcal is produced alongside Bentley’s combustion and hybrid models, supported by a network of suppliers from across the UK.

On the road, the Torcal delivers up to 888PS and 1,350Nm of torque – the highest of any Bentley to date – with acceleration of 0-60mph in as little as 2.8 seconds, up to 375 miles (600km WLTP) of range and 10-80% charging in under 20 minutes. The Torcal launches in two forms: the core model and the more sporting Torcal S. It also introduces new sustainable materials to the Bentley palette, including the world’s first 100% Merino wool automotive fabric, developed with Somerset weaver Fox Brothers.

00:00TOKAL is for a long time now the very first new completely new Bentley and it comes with everything
00:07that defines a Bentley. It comes with a lot of technology but it's also a clear statement
00:11with our investment that we continue to build these cars in crew. It comes with innovation
00:19and heritage. It comes with all the craftsmanship. It's a Bentley first. It comes with a new design
00:24language and it's really a blueprint of all our cars that will come in the future and we are very
00:32proud that we can build these cars with our skilled workforce in crew in the UK. TOKAL is our first
00:41really new car for a long time now and it comes with new technology, new design language. It's really
00:48a blueprint on what we expect on future Bentley cars and this is also a clear statement of our
00:57investment in crew of continuing to build these fabulous cars in the UK with our skilled people
01:05and employees that design, engineer and build these cars here. It's maybe the most important car launch
01:12in our 107 year history. It's a complete new car and it's electric. It's designed, engineered and built
01:19in crew. It comes with a lot of new technology but it also keeps the craftsmanship of Bentley. It's a
01:26very significant milestone for us because it expands our range so we can offer now ice cars, hybrids but
01:34also fully electric cars. We think the timing is now just perfect. EV technology has matured and it now
01:41fulfills Bentley standards. We see a lot of positive reaction from customers but also from new friends
01:47of the Bentley brand to the car for those that have already had a closer look to the car. But
01:54it also
01:54comes with way higher acceptance of electric cars in the wider market and so we feel it's exactly the
02:01right moment to launch the Bentley TOKAL now. Our decision to produce and build TOKAL in the UK
02:09is a strong statement. We believe strongly in this country and in our site in crew. It's more than 4
02:16,000
02:17people that are working on our site and it's a strong sign and a big investment we did in our
02:24site to
02:24protect these workplaces. But it's also a huge effort of upskilling, bringing in new technology and not
02:32looking backwards. We clearly have a plan for the future. This is why we have invested in the UK and
02:38in
02:38crew. We are driving very clearly a customer focused and a market focused approach. We see markets are
02:46developing in different speeds. China is different than Europe or the US and customers have different
02:52needs. So we don't believe in one size fits all solutions. And the cars we offer, the range we are
02:59offering in the luxury segment, that means you have choice. It's up to the customer, to their needs,
03:06to their benefits, what is the right drivetrain for them. So that does not come from just us. And
03:13with the completion and the offer now, with the TOKAL being the first electric Bentley, we have really a
03:19complete range and we are not replacing a car. We are offering an additional car to our offer. And
03:26that's why we are so exciting because we expect we find a lot of new customers, a lot of new
03:31friends of our brand.
