00:09about the project, which stars Melissa McCarthy and Clive Owen as JonBenet's parents. Ramsey
00:14told the U.S. Sun that he'd requested to view the limited series ahead of its upcoming December
00:17release but was denied. The show reportedly is based on a controversial book written about the
00:22murder by Steve Thomas, one of the former Boulder PD investigators who was assigned to the case.
00:26And that is another bone of contention for the Ramsey family who previously sued Thomas for
00:30defamation. That case was settled outside of court but to this day Ramsey's upset calling Thomas
00:34quote a reckless investigator who relied on his opinion rather than the evidence to assign guilt.
00:39Thomas had long believed that Jon and JonBenet's late mother Patsy had something to do with either
00:43the crime or the cover-up. JonBenet was murdered Christmas night in 1996. She was first reported
00:48missing by her parents and then her body was later discovered that same day in the basement
00:52of her family's Colorado mansion. Many suspected the Ramseys and even JonBenet's then nine-year-old
00:56brother Burke as the perpetrators. However, no charges were ever filed and in 2008 the DA's
01:01office formally cleared the family of any suspicion.
