00:02So at around 12.45am today, Sunday the 27th of September, police received a call relating to
00:10three suspicious vehicles travelling towards RAF Fairford. Armed officers responded and
00:17subsequently arrested five men in the Welford area on suspicion of committing offences under
00:21the Explosives Act. The men were taken into custody where they remain. Though there was a
00:28specific threat about six weeks ago from the Iranians on this base at the time, there was
00:34an increased surveillance around the area. This is an operational base. There is, it's
00:40no secret that, you know, we have American bombers here that are taking part in what's happening
00:46in the Middle East at the moment. So there's always the risk, but I think the local community
00:50are very vigilant and I have complete faith in security services to do their job.
