00:00A fresh warning from Iran has raised the stakes across the Gulf.
00:05Tehran is warning that U.S. military bases and interests
00:08across the Middle East could come under attack
00:11if Washington takes further military action against Iran.
00:15The warning comes from Iran's Khattam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters,
00:20the country's top operational military command.
00:23And the message is direct.
00:25If the United States makes a mistake against Iran,
00:29Tehran says U.S. deployment centers and interests in the region could be targeted.
00:34Iran has issued similar warnings before,
00:37but this latest statement comes at a particularly sensitive moment,
00:41with tensions surrounding the Strait of Hormuz still high,
00:45military movements adding to uncertainty,
00:47and diplomatic efforts struggling to make progress.
00:51At the center of the crisis is the Strait of Hormuz,
00:55one of the world's most strategically important waterways
00:58because of its role in global oil and gas shipments.
01:02Iran has now proposed a seven-day plan that could potentially reopen the waterway
01:07and allow nuclear negotiations with Washington to resume.
01:11But Tehran has attached conditions.
01:13Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Arakji said Iran was prepared to reopen the Strait of Hormuz within seven days
01:21if the United States lifts its blockade of Iranian ports, eases sanctions, and observes a ceasefire.
01:29In other words, Tehran is linking the reopening of the waterway to a broader reduction in U.S. military and
01:36economic pressure.
01:37But there is uncertainty over whether Washington will accept those terms.
01:41The Wall Street Journal, citing U.S. officials, reported that President Donald Trump rejected Iran's seven-day ceasefire proposal
01:49and told aides he expects U.S. bombing of Iran to resume after the November midterm elections.
01:55That reported position comes as Washington and Tehran remain divided over the conditions for any nuclear agreement.
02:04U.S. officials, cited by the Journal, said Trump remained skeptical that Iran would meet his demands concerning its nuclear
02:10program.
02:12Meanwhile, Iran is sending another warning to countries in the region.
02:16Its military command has said that countries assisting U.S. military operations could be considered parties to the conflict.
02:23In other words, the potential consequences could extend beyond direct U.S. and Iranian targets,
02:30if regional countries become involved in supporting American military operations.
02:36Iran, however, continues to say that it does not intend to start a war.
02:40At the same time, Tehran says it is prepared to respond if attacked.
02:45So, the situation now rests on two competing tracks — diplomacy on one side and military deterrence on the other.
02:54Iran is offering a seven-day framework linked to reopening the Strait of Hormuz and restarting nuclear negotiations.
03:02Washington, according to the reported U.S. position, has not accepted the ceasefire proposal.
03:07And with the Strait of Hormuz still at the center of the confrontation,
03:12any renewed U.S. military action could carry consequences far beyond the immediate battlefield.
03:18For now, the key questions are whether diplomatic channels can reopen,
03:23whether the Strait of Hormuz can return to normal maritime traffic,
03:27and whether the latest warnings remain warnings or turn into renewed military action.
