Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi delivered a forceful speech at the United Nations, declaring that global trust in the UN has been severely damaged by what he described as the failure of powerful nations to uphold international law consistently.

Araghchi sharply criticized U.S. President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, accusing them of portraying victims as aggressors and defending what he characterized as unlawful actions against Iran.

He also condemned economic sanctions on Iran, describing them as a form of “terrorism,” while rejecting U.S. claims concerning Iran’s nuclear program. Araghchi further argued that military action against Iran during ongoing diplomatic efforts represented a betrayal of diplomacy.

His remarks also addressed the Gaza conflict and broader Middle Eastern tensions, adding to the growing diplomatic confrontation between Iran, Israel, the United States and their regional counterparts.

00:00Bismillah ar-Rahman ar-Rahim.
00:01Good afternoon everyone.
00:05And thank you for being here with me.
00:10Well, I would like to make a statement on the position of the Islamic Republic of Iran regarding the ongoing
00:16situation.
00:17Particularly the situation in and around the Strait of Hormuz.
00:23I will not be taking questions, unfortunately.
00:28As my statement, I believe we'll address the relevant issues and convey Iran's position clearly.
00:35First, on U.S. aggression and its ongoing unlawful measures.
00:40The Islamic Republic of Iran reiterates its steadfast commitment to international law, the UN Charter, and diplomacy.
00:48This commitment was demonstrated through the negotiations that concluded in the JCPOA, its implementation, and Iran's continued efforts to pursue
01:00diplomacy over the past two years.
01:01Even while facing U.S.-Israeli acts of aggression.
01:06The United States choose the opposite path.
01:12Aggression, threats, assassination, economic warfare, and the blatant disregard for international law and the UN Charter.
01:22Due to the U.S.-Israeli aggression against Iran, more than 5,000 people have been killed, including hundreds of women
01:30and children.
01:30They committed a grave crime and flagrant violation of international law by assassinating Iran's supreme leader, along with other senior
01:41political and military officials.
01:43residential areas, schools, hospitals, energy facilities, sports facilities, cultural sites, transport infrastructure, and other civilian objects have been struck.
01:55The massacre of more than 168 students and teachers in Minab, the cluster munition attack on La Merde Stadium, the
02:05bombing of residential homes in Gashb with 2,000-pound bombs,
02:10and the missile attack on a wedding ceremony in Syriq are only some of the documented examples.
02:21Yet, from the podium of the General Assembly, the U.S. President, along with the Criminal Prime Minister of Israel,
02:30attempted to distort the facts and reverse the rules of victim and aggressor.
02:40The United States and the Israeli regime cannot whitewash their criminal acts against the people of Iran.
02:47The United States is now weaponizing economic deprivation as an instrument of collective punishment and political coercion.
02:59It is deliberately inflicting grave and foreseeable harm on the Iranian people and directly violating their fundamental rights, including the
03:09rights to life, health, medicine, and food.
03:12This is not diplomacy.
03:15It is coercion and economic terrorism.
03:18This constitutes a flagrant and direct violation of the binding provisional measures ordered by the ICJ on 3 October 2018.
03:29Second, on Iran's peaceful nuclear program.
03:33The renewed allegations concerning Iran's peaceful nuclear program are political, not a substitute for technical and legal assessment.
03:42The allegation that Iran is on the verge of acquiring a nuclear weapon is a big lie.
03:53The allegation that Iran is on the verge of acquiring a nuclear weapon is a big lie, first concocted by
04:01Israeli in 2003.
04:03And the United States and European countries have been pirating it ever since.
04:10Iran has been a faithful party to the NPT since 1970 and has been subject to extensive IAEA monitoring for
04:17decades.
04:17The United States cannot credibly claim to defend nonproliferation while attacking IAEA safeguarded peaceful nuclear facilities in clear violation of
04:29its international obligations.
04:33Third, on the situation in and around the Strait of Hormuz.
04:37Iran remains committed to safe and secure navigation.
04:41But maritime security cannot be restored through further military actions, threats, blockade or economic coercion.
04:51Until 28 February 2026, the Strait was open.
04:56The insecurity prevailing in the Strait of Hormuz and the disruption of maritime navigation are the direct result of the
05:05aggressive actions of the United States and the Israeli regime.
05:10You cannot bomb a country, threaten its annihilation, impose a maritime blockade and coercive measures and expect automatic restoration of
05:21security and navigation.
05:24Responsibility also rests squarely with those regional states that, in flagrant disregard of the principles of good neighborliness and in
05:36violation of their international obligations under the UN Charter, enabled and facilitated the aggression by opening their territory, military bases,
05:46airspace and logistical and intelligence infrastructure to the aggressors.
05:52And fourth, on MOU and way forward.
05:56Following the good offices of Pakistan and Qatar, Iran and the United States signed the Islamwad MOU on 17 June.
06:06Under paragraph five, Iran undertook to make the necessary arrangements to facilitate the safe movement of vessels.
06:13Iran immediately began technical discussions with the Sultanate of Oman aimed at implementing that commitment and restoring maritime traffic.
06:25UN Charter and the European Union of the United States are in charge of the European Union of the United
06:25States.
06:25Iran and the Financial Century of the United StatesверAAAARCYVIC and the-
06:25press conference was opened for an early booster and when they were among the first
06:25of the entire people at the Uman zwy June 12th as well.
