Sortie en 1967.  Synopsis : La guerre de Sécession prend fin. Parmi le cortège des vaincus figure Montgomery Brown, qui revient chez lui, à travers un pays dévasté. Sa ville natale ne vaut guère mieux. Une bande de truands venus du Mexique a profité du désordre créé par la défaite pour y installer son quartier général. Son chef, Esteban Fuentes, se vautre dans la propre maison de Montgomery Brown et se pavane dans les rues au bras de sa propre femme. C'en est trop pour le héros blessé. Il se saoule à mort....
