Even behind glass, small territorial moments can play out with surprising clarity.
Inside a tank at The Florida Aquarium in Tampa, two blue-spotted jawfish remain near their separate burrow openings. From their hideouts, they repeatedly fling mouthfuls of sand and substrate toward each other, sending small arcs of material across the bottom.
The filmer, Lisa, told WooGlobe, "My family went to the aquarium on Sunday. Our oldest is interested in marine biology and thought this would be a fun family summer activity. I was videoing the various marine life throughout our time there and the blue spotted jawfish interactions especially caught my attention."
The exchange continues back and forth, with each fish staying close to its own shelter.
With neither fish leaving its post, the scene reads like a careful boundary dispute carried out one scoop at a time.
