00:00:39What the fuck?
00:00:40Somebody help me!
00:00:42Let me out of here!
00:00:48Olivia?
00:00:50Hello, Olivia.
00:00:52Who the fuck is that?
00:00:53While I do understand that it may be frustrating to see your brother,
00:00:57don't let that distract you from the fact that you spent nearly your entire life with nowhere to run.
00:01:01Oh, my God.
00:01:02Only you know what you need to do next, Olivia.
00:01:08What the hell is she talking about, Olivia?
00:01:10You know exactly what she's talking about!
00:01:20Where are you going?
00:01:22What are you doing?
00:01:23You need to let me out of here!
00:01:24Please!
00:01:26Let me out of here!
00:01:34I'd like to use my hint!
00:01:53Look, if this is about what I think this is about, then you need to let it go.
00:01:57Okay, this is not okay.
00:02:00All right.
00:02:02Why are you ignoring me?
00:02:04You need to let me the fuck out of here!
00:02:06Look, I'm not dying because somebody can't keep their mouth shut!
00:02:11No, no, no.
00:02:11You're wrong!
00:02:12I'm sorry.
00:02:13I didn't mean that.
00:02:15Look, look, no, no, no.
00:02:16I'm sorry.
00:02:17You've been a great sister.
00:02:19Look, I love you.
00:02:20Look, I'm begging you.
00:02:22I'm begging you.
00:02:23Please, don't do this.
00:02:24I begged you for years, and you never fucking listened!
00:02:27No, no, no.
00:02:29No, no, no, no, no, no, no.
00:02:30Don't do this!
00:02:31Don't do this!
00:02:34Because of you, I fear boys!
00:02:38You're supposed to be my brother, Garrett!
00:02:40Brothers are supposed to help their little sisters!
00:02:46Oh, wait.
00:02:52You're not the victim.
00:02:55You're right about that, Garrett.
00:02:56I'm not a victim.
00:02:58I'm a goddamn survivor!
00:03:03You're right.
00:03:06Oh!
00:03:08Oh!
00:03:09Nooo!
00:03:40I don't know.
00:04:22Oh, hey, you got a light?
00:04:24I'm sorry, I don't snack.
00:04:26Oh, fuck.
00:04:28Um, shit.
00:04:50Hey, you got a light?
00:04:52No, I don't smoke, sorry.
00:04:54Oh, hey, it's you.
00:04:56Hey.
00:04:57What are you doing out here?
00:04:58The meeting started like 40 minutes ago.
00:05:00Does Brad need me?
00:05:01I couldn't come in and help.
00:05:03Shit, I shouldn't have stayed out here so long.
00:05:08Um, never mind.
00:05:10All right, I'll see you in there.
00:05:13Cool.
00:05:16Brad, I'm sick of it.
00:05:19I'm sick of everyone telling me,
00:05:20oh, things are going to get better.
00:05:23They don't understand what it's like
00:05:25to have everything you've ever dreamt of having
00:05:27taken from you in an instant.
00:05:30And I had the life I always wanted, you know?
00:05:34I had the expensive car,
00:05:35the dream girl,
00:05:37a roof over my head,
00:05:38and now it's all gone.
00:05:41Because I let this stupid disease get the best of me.
00:05:48I got nothing left to be grateful for.
00:05:51You have a pulse, right?
00:05:53Because being alive
00:05:54is worth being grateful for.
00:05:57I just want my life back.
00:06:00Hey, can you believe this guy?
00:06:03Look, I for one
00:06:04am so proud of you
00:06:06and how far you've come with your addiction.
00:06:08And hey,
00:06:09it's not only me who's proud,
00:06:11it's all of us.
00:06:12Everybody, please, come on,
00:06:14let's give a round of applause for Travis.
00:06:19Oh, come on.
00:06:20Are you serious?
00:06:24I'm sorry, is there a problem?
00:06:26Yeah, we get it.
00:06:27We're all addicts with sob stories.
00:06:29Boo-hoo.
00:06:30Victims of the system, right?
00:06:32No.
00:06:33We are survivors.
00:06:35Survivors, right.
00:06:36Sorry.
00:06:37My bad.
00:06:38If I'm not mistaken,
00:06:40all you motivational speakers are frauds
00:06:42and you just like to stand up
00:06:43and waste everybody's time
00:06:44because you want to feel good about yourself.
00:06:49Well, it's very clear
00:06:50that you have a lot on your mind,
00:06:51so would you like to tell everybody
00:06:53why you're here in the first place?
00:06:55Why not?
00:06:57Hi, everybody.
00:06:58I'm Jake.
00:06:59Good to be here.
00:07:01Hi, Jake.
00:07:01Hi.
00:07:02Yeah, well, whatever that was.
00:07:04Anyways, I'm a nobody with no purpose and no heart,
00:07:06just a fool that was left to rot in a cage
00:07:08for about a year and a half.
00:07:10So anyways, deuces.
00:07:14Allow me to explain something to you, Jake.
00:07:16You see, we as human beings
00:07:18are forced to live inside of our own minds,
00:07:20also known as an emotional prison
00:07:22created by others,
00:07:23leaving us with no other choice
00:07:25but to try our very best just to fit in,
00:07:28all for a chance to feel what?
00:07:30Accepted?
00:07:31Remember this.
00:07:33Remember that with each and every day,
00:07:35danger is real
00:07:37and fear is a choice.
00:07:41I'm sorry, you were saying that you're a nobody,
00:07:43is that right?
00:07:44Yeah, that's right.
00:07:45Let me ask you something.
00:07:48Are you sure you're a nobody
00:07:49or do you just feel like one?
00:07:52Go ahead.
00:07:53Tell me what you believe to be the truth.
00:07:55The truth?
00:07:57The truth is I'm a former drug addict
00:07:59with nothing left to give.
00:08:01Sorry, Mom.
00:08:08I'm sorry, what is so funny about that?
00:08:09Huh?
00:08:11What is so funny about a man
00:08:12who refuses to accept his potential?
00:08:14I say it every single week.
00:08:16Once we decide to make peace with our addictions,
00:08:19it is then that we have the power
00:08:21to make our reflections change.
00:08:23And whether you realize that or not, Jake,
00:08:26we all, including you,
00:08:27have something to give.
00:08:30Which brings me to a question
00:08:31that each of us in this room
00:08:33may share the same answer for.
00:08:35Here we go.
00:08:38How many of you
00:08:40have ever found yourself
00:08:43in a dangerous situation?
00:08:47A show of hands, please.
00:08:54Look at that.
00:08:55Look at that.
00:08:57We are all survivors of addiction.
00:09:00And so am I.
00:09:02As my struggle with codependency
00:09:04has taught me such a very valuable lesson in life.
00:09:07And what that is,
00:09:08is the fact that power
00:09:09does not mean perfection.
00:09:13People look at us as addicts all the time.
00:09:17But never as survivors.
00:09:20Okay, this feels like a good place
00:09:22to stop for today.
00:09:23So, with that being said,
00:09:25I want to thank you for being here
00:09:27and thank you for being survivors
00:09:29instead of statistics.
00:09:31Have a great holiday weekend.
00:09:32I will see you next week.
00:09:34Thank you guys so much.
00:09:45Hey, I might have been
00:09:46a little bit awkward
00:09:47at the car earlier.
00:09:49So, why don't we just
00:09:50hit the restart button.
00:09:52Start fresh.
00:09:53May I
00:09:55offer you a bagel?
00:09:57I made these myself this morning.
00:09:59Came in really early.
00:10:01Had to meet you.
00:10:01Excuse me.
00:10:02May I speak to you two real quick?
00:10:03Excuse me.
00:10:04No.
00:10:05Of course, Brad.
00:10:06What is it?
00:10:07Well, there's something
00:10:08I would like for the both of you
00:10:09to be a part of.
00:10:10No thanks.
00:10:11We're good.
00:10:12Come on, Jake.
00:10:13Could be fun.
00:10:16What is it, Brad?
00:10:18With the holidays
00:10:19right around the corner,
00:10:20there is no better time
00:10:21for me to give back.
00:10:22And to cut to the chase,
00:10:23let's just say I was contacted
00:10:25about an experiment.
00:10:26And it just so happens
00:10:27to offer substantial compensation.
00:10:30Wow.
00:10:31Substantial, you say.
00:10:34How substantial.
00:10:40It would require three people
00:10:42willing to participate
00:10:43in an escape room
00:10:44based around their addictions.
00:10:45And you two seem like
00:10:47the perfect fit.
00:10:49So, what do you two say?
00:10:51Are we getting paid?
00:10:52Do we get gold bullion?
00:10:54I accept cryptocurrency
00:10:55and Bitcoin,
00:10:56Ethereum,
00:10:57pirate food.
00:10:58You get more than a paycheck, Jake.
00:11:00You walk away
00:11:01with a new outlook on life
00:11:02that no rehab could ever provide.
00:11:05Wow.
00:11:06He's not paying us.
00:11:07Okay, well, either way,
00:11:09I'm in.
00:11:12Okay, fine.
00:11:13I'll do your thing.
00:11:15Wonderful.
00:11:17So, did you have anybody else in mind?
00:11:19As a matter of fact, I do.
00:11:22Meet me tomorrow at noon,
00:11:23Soraya's Palace, downtown.
00:11:25All right, we'll be there.
00:11:26Sierra, can you lock up for me?
00:11:27I'm going to give Matt a ride home.
00:11:29Yeah, I'll get the keys.
00:11:31Oh, Jake, before you go,
00:11:33I just wanted to apologize
00:11:34for how I acted earlier.
00:11:36I shouldn't have made
00:11:36such a big scene
00:11:37in front of everybody.
00:11:38So, again, sorry.
00:11:41Good.
00:11:44You're reluctant
00:11:45to accept my apology, right?
00:11:47I get it.
00:11:48Okay, I do.
00:11:49I get it.
00:11:50You're only here
00:11:50because legally you have to be.
00:11:52And it makes perfect sense.
00:11:54It really does.
00:11:55But what...
00:11:57What I am so passionate about,
00:12:00Jake,
00:12:00is you.
00:12:02Yeah, you.
00:12:03I am so passionate about you
00:12:05because I know
00:12:06that you can be a hero
00:12:07to these people.
00:12:08I know that your story
00:12:09can be someone else's inspiration.
00:12:11Whoa, whoa, whoa.
00:12:12You don't know shit
00:12:12about my story, okay?
00:12:15You'd be surprised
00:12:17by what I know.
00:12:19Right here.
00:12:29Cigarettes?
00:12:30What?
00:12:31You're a smoker, right?
00:12:31Uh, yeah,
00:12:33but I don't understand
00:12:33why you're giving this to me.
00:12:36You never know
00:12:37when you'll need a light.
00:12:44Of course.
00:12:45No matches,
00:12:46no lighter.
00:12:47Could use a light now, dick.
00:12:50You got everything?
00:12:52Oh, yeah.
00:12:53Uh, sure.
00:12:53Oh, hey, question.
00:12:56What is it?
00:12:58Your, uh,
00:12:59butterfly hair clip.
00:13:00It's just like butterflies
00:13:02or does it have, like,
00:13:03a special meaning?
00:13:07Yeah, um,
00:13:09it means everything.
00:13:12Hmm.
00:13:13I'll see you tomorrow, Jake.
00:13:16Okay.
00:13:17Okay.
00:13:19Okay.
00:13:23Okay.
00:13:27I'll see you tomorrow.
00:13:28See you tomorrow.
00:13:29Oh, you're good getting to your car?
00:13:31I'll survive.
00:13:32Huh.
00:13:41Bye.
00:13:48Ah.
00:14:02Portland's beautiful, huh?
00:14:04Yeah, it is.
00:14:07Hey, I was meaning to ask you something.
00:14:10Sure.
00:14:11I've always wanted to host my own AMA.
00:14:14AMA?
00:14:15Ask me anything.
00:14:18Don't worry about it.
00:14:19That's stupid.
00:14:20Um, what's up?
00:14:22I just noticed there was some tension between you and Brad.
00:14:27What's up with that?
00:14:28Oh, nothing much.
00:14:31He's just an asshole that thinks he's better than everybody.
00:14:34You know.
00:14:35Or maybe he's trying to help you.
00:14:38Maybe.
00:14:39Maybe I can help him.
00:14:41You see, I know a great surgeon that can remove that stick from up his asshole.
00:14:47And with that, I'm going to head inside.
00:14:50Are you coming in?
00:14:51Nah, I'll be out here for just a moment longer.
00:14:54Just clear my head.
00:14:56All right.
00:14:57See you in there.
00:14:58See ya!
00:15:18See ya!
00:15:41Hello.
00:15:44Hey, anyone here?
00:15:46Sierra. Hi, I'm Roger. Oh, what the hell? You must be Jacob. Can you see me right now?
00:15:56I can see everything, Jacob. That's not weird or anything. Listen, kid, I get it. You don't
00:16:04want to be here. You could care less about these escape rooms. Seen a lot of shit, I
00:16:14heard you did a lot of time. Yeah, I did like a year and eight months up north over.
00:16:20Listen, I just got out of a 25 to life sentence in a high supermax prison. So if you want
00:16:28to
00:16:29come at me with your tough guy charade, then bring it because I'll dig a grave so
00:16:35freaking fast and bury your ass in it. You won't know what fucking hit you.
00:16:41And remember, leave all personal items such as bags, recording devices, cell phones,
00:16:51lighters in the tray in front of you. And remember, not everybody gets a choice, but you do. Good
00:17:02love, Jake. Well, that just happened. Oh, good. It's you. Always wonderful to see you too, Jake.
00:17:14Hmm. So I'm here for your stupid haunted house or whatever this is. Well, what I think you
00:17:20meant to say was escape room and the meeting room you will be meeting in will be down the
00:17:24hall to your left down there. So what do you want from me? ID? Anything? Well, besides any bags,
00:17:31phones, keys, recording equipment, and or lighters, the only thing I need from you, Jake, is to sign
00:17:36this waiver right here. And you do understand that with any type of experiment comes potential
00:17:46risks associated with the activities that will take place here today. Do you understand this?
00:17:51Thanks. Wait, this is a controlled experiment, right? Of course. Oh, hey. Hey. Um, here's
00:18:04that waiver for you, Brad. Thank you. I'll see you in the meeting room. Adios. All righty.
00:18:14Uh, you said the meeting room was down this hall and to the left? That's exactly what I said. And
00:18:22one more
00:18:22thing, Jake. Not everyone gets a choice. But you do. Hey. This is where we meet. In here. Where we
00:18:43are
00:18:43currently meeting? No. Ignore him. Yeah, this is the place. So, did anyone else get greeted by the great value
00:18:59Captain Spaulding? No? Just me? All right. Wow. Sorry, I'm not trying to be nosy, but your sketch is incredible.
00:19:19Thanks. Um, so, I had no idea you were an artist. I've always wanted to be an artist. Really? Yeah.
00:19:29I've always wanted to be an artist.
00:19:29Uh, for that end of the day, I turned 21. Alcohol? No. Gambling. All right. Who's ready to walk out
00:19:45of here today with a new outlook on life? Let's do it. Oh, we will. But before we get started,
00:19:50let's go over the rules of today's experiment. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Escape the escape room. Don't break shit.
00:19:56Rules done.
00:19:58If only the rules were that simple. So, today you will find yourselves in various escape rooms based around your
00:20:04addictions. It will be your job to figure out which room is yours.
00:20:08When the door to the door to the first room locked, she will then have 60 minutes to complete today's
00:20:13experiment. If you get stumped, just yell aloud, and our game master, Michael, will be there to assist you with
00:20:19a hint. But use your hint wisely, as only one hint is allowed per room. Any questions? Wonderful. Follow me
00:20:29to room one.
00:20:47Welcome. To the room of reflection.
00:20:54Nope. This is the castle room. No. As you see, this is the room where each of you will reflect
00:21:01on yourselves the most in ways you have never done before.
00:21:07Sorry, that doesn't make any sense. I assure you it does. Go ahead. Take a look for yourself.
00:21:29Well, the attention to detail here is impressive. Thanks. I really appreciate that. I bet you're proud of what you
00:21:35created here.
00:21:38Yeah. So proud. What about you, Sierra? What do you think of my creation?
00:21:46Yeah, it feels, um, special.
00:21:52It is.
00:22:00I see you admiring our shield of courage over there. Shield of courage, huh?
00:22:07I kind of like that.
00:22:08Why does courage mean something to you?
00:22:12Actually, yeah. Yeah, it means everything to me. Always has.
00:22:22Good to know.
00:22:34Well, this is where I leave you. Best of luck. And one more thing. I hope it was worth it.
00:22:51Sierra, it's okay. He's just trying to spook us. Yeah. I mean, it's all just part of his whole, the
00:22:57danger is real thing, you know? He's just trying to toy with your emotions. Don't let him get inside your
00:23:03head.
00:23:10What was that?
00:23:12Probably Matt's stomach. Need anything, man? Need to eat some food? Take a shit? What? No.
00:23:19I'd like to thank you all for being here, as today marks the first day of the rest of your
00:23:26lives. In less than 60 minutes, a winner will be determined, and the rest shall be history.
00:23:35Focusing on the room you find yourself in currently, it may be confusing as to whose room this is. But
00:23:43know that it does hold deep meaning for one of you. Search the room for clues. Proceed as instructed. Remember
00:23:52this. Don't be afraid to fail. But more so, be afraid to give up.
00:24:02There's something off about this room. It's gonna be alright. You're gonna be okay. No, seriously. I need to get
00:24:07out of here.
00:24:09Hey, what's wrong? We just got here. Yeah, is there like an underlying health issue or something? I mean, there's
00:24:14nothing that's happened to warrant this kind of behavior.
00:24:19I get panic attacks, okay? And this is my first escape room. I guess I'm just a little freaked out.
00:24:24Well, don't worry. Escape rooms aren't meant to be scary. They're meant to make you just use your brain.
00:24:30I am using my brain. And my brain knows that I have terrible anxiety and I need to get out
00:24:35of here.
00:24:35Well, tell your brain that the worst thing that's happened so far is that we saw Brad's stupid face, huh?
00:24:41Huh? Seriously. I'm not gonna let anything happen to you.
00:24:48I promise. Okay. There you go. Hey guys, look.
00:25:03Why are we being filmed? Just in case something goes wrong. Which it won't. Plus, these cameras are here just
00:25:10to help us with our heads.
00:25:12Holy shit. You know what I think? I think this is like one of those reality shows where they put
00:25:20the people inside the building and then compete against each other for cash prizes or something.
00:25:24What? But this has nothing to do with money.
00:25:27And money isn't everything. Trust me. No.
00:25:31But I sure as hell can buy you a really great time on a Saturday night in Tulsa. What is
00:25:38wrong with you? Depends on who's asking.
00:25:57What is that? That? That is a clock, genius. Time heals all wounds.
00:26:06What? Oh, um, the clock and the bandages. It's meant to represent wounds healing over time.
00:26:13Hmm. Can I see it?
00:26:24This clock doesn't tick. Hey, what's that? What does that say?
00:26:30And then time stood still.
00:26:32Well, that would explain the clock not ticking. Hmm.
00:26:35But what does this have to do with any of our addictions?
00:26:38That's what we have to figure out.
00:26:54Time to reflect.
00:26:57What?
00:27:02Time to reflect.
00:27:04What about that chest over there?
00:27:06What about it?
00:27:06Might as well check it out while we're here.
00:27:09Okay.
00:27:15Well, let me think for a second here.
00:27:20It's no coincidence that there's two mirrors in here and one of them says time to reflect.
00:27:24And obviously, mirrors cause reflections.
00:27:27Yeah.
00:27:28So, Brad said earlier that this room was where we would reflect on ourselves the most.
00:27:34Right.
00:27:37So, maybe we stand in front of this mirror and we reflect.
00:27:44Right.
00:27:47Oh, what's that?
00:27:51There are three sides to every story. Any idea what that means?
00:27:55Well, there are three of us in this room.
00:27:58Well, the three of us are addicts. And Lord knows every addict has a story to tell, right?
00:28:06I got it. Um, it's like Brad always says. Once we come to peace with our addictions, we have the
00:28:12power to make our reflections change.
00:28:13And? That still doesn't tell us who this room is for.
00:28:17No.
00:28:23But maybe telling our stories will.
00:28:25Yeah.
00:28:27Yeah. And if every room has something to do with our addictions, then maybe our stories should too.
00:28:33I guess I'll start.
00:28:36So, uh, I guess my addiction isn't just to self-harm. It's an addiction to feeling. That's the light way
00:28:46of putting it.
00:28:47Feeling what?
00:28:50Anything.
00:28:58My foster parents liked to drink. A lot.
00:29:04In elementary school, I was diagnosed with anxiety and depression.
00:29:09Being abused by my foster parents, my brother and I grew up with this overwhelming sense of anxiety and fear.
00:29:20I never felt good enough.
00:29:23My brain constantly told myself I deserved the pain that I was going through.
00:29:28And to this day, any time things begin to overwhelm me, the urge to cut comes back again.
00:29:37So, uh, yeah. There it is.
00:29:40I guess my addiction is feeling like I need to be the one in control.
00:29:57Nobody likes to lose. Especially when it keeps happening over and over again.
00:30:03I've lost everything you can imagine.
00:30:06From a six-figure paying job to my friends and my family.
00:30:12And especially the love of my life.
00:30:15This disease takes your mind away.
00:30:19It makes you feel invincible until that feeling wears off, which is, which is almost instantly.
00:30:24A long time ago, I used to tell myself that the addiction to the thrill of winning is not as
00:30:29bad as being dead.
00:30:30But the more time that passes, the more I second-guess that thought.
00:30:34All the people I've lied to. All the people I've stolen from.
00:30:38If you asked me if I would do it again, I would be lying if I say I wouldn't.
00:30:41You gambled with fire.
00:30:45Damn right I did.
00:30:48I'm sorry, Matt.
00:30:52Me too.
00:31:01It's your turn, Jake. What's your story?
00:31:13Just so you know, I don't have an addiction or anything.
00:31:17It's okay. We're all in this together and it's kind of the only way out.
00:31:25Well, I guess what I mean to say is, I'm not currently addicted to something.
00:31:34But I guess, you know, it's as they say, you know, once an addict, always an addict.
00:31:43I, uh, I got caught up living a lifestyle I really had no part of.
00:31:53You say you lost your family?
00:31:56Yeah.
00:31:58Yeah.
00:32:01You're not alone.
00:32:04I lost everything because of my refusal to believe that I had a problem.
00:32:16And not just that, but that I was the problem.
00:32:23Jake, it's okay. We're here for you.
00:32:28You know, one thing led to another and it wasn't just the pills I was taking, but...
00:32:36God, it led to the worst of the worst.
00:32:41Heroin.
00:32:42Jake, your addiction doesn't define you.
00:32:46That's...
00:32:48That's so...
00:32:50That's so easy to say.
00:32:52But you're...
00:32:55You're not the reason that a human being isn't here anymore.
00:32:59I...
00:33:01I killed someone.
00:33:03What are you talking about?
00:33:05I have to wake up...
00:33:10Every day...
00:33:11With that...
00:33:14With that black cloud...
00:33:16Hanging over my head.
00:33:19Knowing...
00:33:21That...
00:33:22Knowing that I am the reason another human being isn't in this world anymore.
00:33:29They found him.
00:33:31And...
00:33:31In his car in the parking lot of some doctor's office.
00:33:34Wait a minute.
00:33:36What?
00:33:37I work at a doctor's office.
00:33:38One of my coworkers was found overdosed in the parking lot.
00:33:41It's probably not the same guy.
00:33:43What was his name?
00:33:45Ryan Fuller.
00:33:49He was my coworker.
00:33:50He was telling me right before he died how upset he was over some girl turning him down.
00:33:54And I was the girl.
00:33:57Wait...
00:33:57What?
00:33:58What?
00:33:59How was I supposed to know turning him down would lead to him killing himself?
00:34:03Okay...
00:34:04So...
00:34:04So this Ryan connection can't be a coincidence, can it?
00:34:11There are three sides to every story.
00:34:13While it's great we're all learning new things about each other, it still doesn't explain whose room this is for,
00:34:17and that's the most important thing right now.
00:34:18He's right. We need to stay focused on why we're here.
00:34:22So let's figure out whose room this is by narrowing it down to what we know already.
00:34:26Well, none of us are from the middle ages, so I guess that rules that out.
00:34:32History, medieval...
00:34:32History?
00:34:34Yeah, uh, history. That's the theme of the room.
00:34:36Yeah, so I guess that explains the Ryan connection, right?
00:34:40It still doesn't explain whose room this is for.
00:34:42Uh, question.
00:34:44What?
00:34:45Have any of us tried opening this door?
00:34:48You really think it's gonna be that easy to open this door?
00:34:55Got it.
00:34:57Looks like it.
00:35:01It smells like gasoline in here.
00:35:04Yeah, it does.
00:35:13Don't tell me we just locked ourselves in here.
00:35:16Try the latch.
00:35:20I think it's automatic, it won't open.
00:35:23Shit.
00:35:23Are you okay?
00:35:24You look like you're about to have a panic attack.
00:35:26My chest hurts really bad.
00:35:28Hey, there's a camera.
00:35:29We'll just tell them what happened.
00:35:30Yeah.
00:35:31We'll just tell them we need to go into the other room.
00:35:33We're locked in here.
00:35:34Yeah, can you guys just let us into the other room real quick, please?
00:35:39No, no, no, no, no, why aren't they letting us out?
00:35:41It's okay.
00:35:42Um, look, I think I found our way out already.
00:35:44There's a door over there.
00:35:51It's locked, there's not a keyhole.
00:35:52Of course.
00:35:54Um, why don't we use our hint?
00:35:55They said we get one per room, right?
00:35:57Good idea.
00:35:58Alright, uh, we're ready for our hint now.
00:36:01Nobody gets left behind.
00:36:04What kind of hint was that?
00:36:06Stupid.
00:36:07Um, hey, there's a key.
00:36:15Oh.
00:36:15Are you okay?
00:36:17I'm fine.
00:36:18I just, I'm not sure it's not a stupid fucking shirt.
00:36:22Hey, are you alright?
00:36:24Um, I feel another panic attack coming on.
00:36:27We're gonna get out of here sooner than later.
00:36:30Sierra?
00:36:31Just breathe with me, okay?
00:36:36Like that?
00:36:38No, no, no.
00:36:38Yeah, exactly like that.
00:36:54Jackpot.
00:36:59Perfect match.
00:37:01This thing is tiny.
00:37:02Um, I don't trust myself with tiny things.
00:37:05You should probably hold on to this.
00:37:06Okay.
00:37:17Sometimes, you have to risk life in order to live.
00:37:20And gamble death to sacrifice life.
00:37:25Today is the day you can win the biggest gamble of life.
00:37:29Survival.
00:37:31What's he doing over there?
00:37:33I don't know, but maybe you slipped and fell again.
00:37:37Fine.
00:37:38I'll go check on him.
00:37:44Hey man, what are you doing over here?
00:37:45Oh my god!
00:37:46What the fuck are you doing?
00:37:47I'm making the right choice.
00:37:48What the fuck does that mean?
00:37:51Perfect match.
00:37:52Perfect match.
00:37:54Oh my god.
00:37:54Are you okay?
00:37:55It smells like gasoline in here.
00:37:58Yeah, it does.
00:37:59Okay, listen, listen, listen, listen.
00:38:01Okay?
00:38:01Uh, I don't know what you think you might be doing, but whatever choice this might be for you, it's
00:38:06not the right one.
00:38:07Fuck you.
00:38:08Yeah, sure.
00:38:08Fuck me.
00:38:09I get it.
00:38:09The stakes are high, but we need to work together.
00:38:11I'm done with working together.
00:38:12This whole thing is supposed to be about addictions.
00:38:14Yeah, it is.
00:38:15It is.
00:38:15It is about our addictions, and our addictions have only brought us closer together, okay?
00:38:19It's like the guy said when we first got here, we need to make today about the first day of
00:38:23the rest of our lives, right?
00:38:24We need to act like that, okay?
00:38:26Now, Matt, Matt, please, please hear me out, please, please hear me out, okay?
00:38:31We, we, you, you are a good person.
00:38:34What would you know about being a good person?
00:38:35You killed Ryan!
00:38:36A lion killed himself, man!
00:38:38You're just as guilty as a murderer of the rocks!
00:38:40Okay, sure, but whatever choice you think that this is, what do you think that that's gonna make you, hmm?
00:38:46A winner.
00:38:47Matt!
00:38:50I'm so sorry.
00:39:07Somebody send help!
00:39:10Someone's down here so-
00:39:11Someone hurt!
00:39:12Help me!
00:39:13Do something!
00:39:19Do something!
00:39:28I don't think these rooms were made to help us.
00:39:31I think they were designed to kill us.
00:39:42If we're gonna get out of here alive, we're gonna have to work together.
00:39:45That means I'm gonna need to be able to trust you.
00:39:47Deal?
00:39:49Deal.
00:39:50Okay, good.
00:39:53Did Matt really have to die?
00:39:57We were supposed to work together.
00:39:59That's what nobody gets left behind, Matt.
00:40:02Yeah.
00:40:09My God.
00:40:13Guess this really was Matt's room.
00:40:15Yeah.
00:40:15I know.
00:40:19Yeah.
00:40:28Yeah.
00:40:31I know.
00:40:33Yeah yeah, I know.
00:40:33No, no, no.
00:40:34I've also been in a family area.
00:40:35Ah.
00:40:35Yeah, you're good.
00:40:35Yeah.
00:40:35Yeah, I know.
00:40:35I know, that's all right.
00:40:35Yeah.
00:40:37Yeah, yeah.
00:40:38Yeah, yeah.
00:40:56Where are we?
00:41:00Home.
00:41:04Hello again, Jacob and Sierra.
00:41:06I would like to apologize for the demise of your fellow competitor,
00:41:11but in order for this game to be taken seriously,
00:41:13an example needed to be said of what can happen.
00:41:18This is my room. I don't know what to do.
00:41:20Just breathe.
00:41:21You're not going to get away with this.
00:41:23Oh, Sierra, please settle down.
00:41:25You said it best in the previous room.
00:41:28He gambled with fire, and for that, he burned.
00:41:32I don't want to be a part of this anymore.
00:41:34You think I do?
00:41:35It's easy for you to say this isn't your room.
00:41:37Please pay attention, Sierra, as this room was designed for you.
00:41:42For nearly your entire life,
00:41:44you have gone through horrendous events that continue to haunt you,
00:41:48and for that, I offer my sincerest condolences.
00:41:52However, spending the majority of your life
00:41:55holding on to nothing but anger and resentment
00:41:57will leave you in a state of never-ending madness.
00:42:10Are you ready?
00:42:12Not really.
00:42:14It'll be okay.
00:42:15You can't.
00:42:20You can't.
00:42:44Hey, hey, hey, hey, calm down.
00:42:47It's just a mannequin.
00:42:49That's not it.
00:42:52What's this?
00:42:55It's hard to keep a secret when it's written all over your body.
00:42:59No, no, no.
00:43:04What's in the folder?
00:43:06What are you hiding from me?
00:43:07I can't tell you.
00:43:08You can't tell me?
00:43:09Really?
00:43:10You just said it yourself in the previous room.
00:43:12We have to be able to trust each other.
00:43:18It is the 4th of May, 2002, and police in the state of Oregon have officially confirmed
00:43:23the deaths of Jonathan Wagner and Elizabeth Bronson as a result of smoke inhalation.
00:43:28As reported in previous weeks, the married couple's residents mysteriously caught fire
00:43:33during the late hours of April 22, 2002.
00:43:36Their foster children, whose names are being withheld due to their age, were found alive
00:43:40at a neighbor's residence nearby.
00:43:42Police say they had no reason to suspect foul play.
00:43:45Investigators believe faulty wiring could have played a part in this ongoing situation.
00:44:02thấyıkla
00:44:03Jake, I'm sorry I didn't tell you.
00:44:05No wonder you were so quick to kill Matt.
00:44:07If I didn't kill him, he would have killed you.
00:44:09You are a murderer.
00:44:10Don't use that word.
00:44:12I'm a survivor.
00:44:13Uh oh, this is no time for
00:44:15Addict's anonymous catchphrases.
00:44:16This is real life.
00:44:19Where did you get that?
00:44:24You got it in the folder.
00:44:26Give it to me.
00:44:26No! Give me one good reason why I should even consider the idea of trusting you!
00:44:31Because you don't understand!
00:44:33You don't know the nightmares I had to go through every day!
00:44:37What are you talking about?
00:44:46Okay.
00:44:49When I was born, my brother and I were given up for adoption.
00:44:54We never met our real parents.
00:44:57They would think our adopted parents would be our real parents after living with them for so long,
00:45:01but they weren't parents at all.
00:45:08They took advantage of me, Jake.
00:45:11I was just a kid.
00:45:14What kind of parents do that to their own children?
00:45:17And how was I supposed to know that what was happening was even wrong?
00:45:24The truth is, when me and my brother turned ten, we made a choice.
00:45:31A choice that for the first time in our lives, instead of being victims,
00:45:36we were survivors.
00:45:42I'm sorry. I didn't know.
00:45:47Can you please just give me the key?
00:45:50I want both of us to get out of here alive.
00:45:56Yeah.
00:45:56I trust you.
00:46:51This was my childhood bed.
00:46:54this was the only good part
00:46:55about my childhood
00:46:57this bed where I'd fall asleep
00:46:59and when I was asleep
00:47:01I was free
00:47:05being asleep
00:47:06was the only time I could escape the nightmares
00:47:07I was living every day
00:47:09okay I understand this room has a lot
00:47:11of sentimental value to you
00:47:13but we are running out of time
00:47:15and we still don't know
00:47:18our way out
00:47:18they got everything about this room right
00:47:21uh that's nice
00:47:23cool great reminiscing and everything
00:47:25once we decide to make peace with our addictions
00:47:28it is then that we have the power
00:47:30to make our reflections change
00:47:33you're a butterfly hair clip
00:47:35it's just like butterflies
00:47:37or does it have like a special meaning
00:47:43yeah
00:47:45it means everything
00:47:55did you know that butterflies don't have pain receptors in their brains
00:48:00meaning they can't feel pain
00:48:03no I didn't know that
00:48:15you know butterflies can go through a lot of pain and still survive
00:48:22I guess I uh
00:48:25I kind of like to think of myself as a butterfly sometimes
00:48:30I just mean
00:48:31everything to you
00:48:42we should just focus on getting out of here
00:48:44yeah
00:48:45yeah
00:48:46good idea
00:48:46hey
00:48:47I think I see our way out
00:48:49alrighty
00:48:57needs a key
00:48:59okay so there has to be a key somewhere in this room
00:49:01we don't have any time for this
00:49:05uh alright I'll use my hint
00:49:06good idea
00:49:08I'd like to use my hint now
00:49:10about Philadelphia
00:49:10thank you
00:49:12by the way
00:49:12oh
00:49:12goodbye
00:49:14bye
00:49:15bye
00:49:15bye
00:49:15bye
00:49:53Oh, I got it.
00:49:57Where did you get that?
00:49:58Oh, Matt left it on the table and I just grabbed it when we left the room.
00:50:02Smart.
00:50:03Yeah, right?
00:50:06Do the honors.
00:50:14Here we go.
00:50:37Oh, yeah.
00:50:40Yeah, this is my room, all right.
00:50:42This is an exact replica of the cell I was in.
00:50:50Same size, interior, everything.
00:50:59Honestly, I feel like I should be there right now, still rotting.
00:51:07Congratulations on making it to the final room.
00:51:11Jacob, the room you find yourself in is one that should be all too familiar to you.
00:51:17After all, a jail cell is a place you've once called home.
00:51:23We're in this together, remember?
00:51:25Yeah.
00:51:26You took away human life, Jake.
00:51:29Each human has a story, has dreams, a potential to achieve a greatness.
00:51:36Murder goes against this.
00:51:39I'm trying to help you out.
00:51:40Thanks.
00:51:41You stole not only a life, but a future, a story in the making.
00:51:49And all you got was a manslaughter charge, and you were released in less than two years.
00:51:56Despicable.
00:51:59You never learned anything, Jake.
00:52:01But today, I promise that you will.
00:52:06Oh, shit!
00:52:09Hey, come take a look at this.
00:52:15Courage is the ultimate protection.
00:52:18Well, courage means everything to me.
00:52:20Where'd you find that?
00:52:22It was on the back of the safe.
00:52:24I, um, found this too.
00:52:30Closure?
00:52:34Well, there's stuff over there, but we can't get to it.
00:52:39Hey, there's the door.
00:52:40I bet that needs a key as well.
00:52:42Yeah, and I'm willing to bet you the key to our freedom is in this stupid safe.
00:52:48Okay, uh, then we just need a four-digit code.
00:52:53Right.
00:52:53If we can get out of here.
00:52:55I'm a goddamn survivor!
00:52:59Oh!
00:53:18Fuck you!
00:53:19Jake, calm down!
00:53:21How am I supposed to remain calm, hmm?
00:53:23The people that are doing this to us know everything about us.
00:53:25Stuff that nobody should know at all, okay?
00:53:27They know your history, my history, Matt's history.
00:53:30For Christ's sake, they built an entire jail cell based on the one that I spent a year and a
00:53:35half in.
00:53:35They designed a room based on the house that you burned down, okay?
00:53:39Today was supposed to be a fun day where we could all just get together and kumbaya and better ourselves
00:53:44as addicts.
00:53:44But guess what?
00:53:45Now Matt is dead because you...
00:53:50Because...
00:53:52Because he let his addiction get the better of him.
00:54:04What are you doing?
00:54:06Hold on.
00:54:08This...
00:54:10This is new.
00:54:11This was not in my cell.
00:54:27You never know when you will need a light.
00:54:33A lighter.
00:54:34Is this...
00:54:34Is this some sort of joke?
00:54:43Now there's something I hadn't thought of until now.
00:54:46What?
00:54:49What happens when the timer reaches zero?
00:54:54Who are you guys?
00:54:56What the hell?
00:54:57Haven't we gone through enough today?
00:54:59What are you talking about?
00:55:00I think she's just another subject.
00:55:03There were others.
00:55:06I just want to go home.
00:55:07Well, if that's the case, then why are you so covered in blood?
00:55:09There's blood on that knife.
00:55:11It's not mine, I swear.
00:55:14It's not what I mean.
00:55:15Then what did you mean?
00:55:17I was...
00:55:18I was forced to make a choice that entailed either being locked in a room to die
00:55:23or to take justice in my own hands and...
00:55:27take the life of my abuser.
00:55:32Olivia, it's okay.
00:55:34I'm a survivor, too.
00:55:36Does it get better?
00:55:38Now it does.
00:55:39Wait, how do you know my name?
00:55:41Ladies, it's really great that we're all friends here,
00:55:42but we need to work together and find a way out of this place.
00:55:45Are there any clues in that room?
00:55:48Look over there.
00:55:50Maybe over there?
00:55:51Hey, that has my name on it.
00:55:52What does it say?
00:55:59Well, anything?
00:56:03Olivia?
00:56:08That didn't do anything.
00:56:10Try the next one.
00:56:13I'm sorry.
00:56:14What?
00:56:14What are you talking about?
00:56:16Olivia!
00:56:21Olivia!
00:56:21Wait!
00:56:22Come back!
00:56:26Oh, shit!
00:56:27No, no, no, no, no!
00:56:28Uh, use your hint or something.
00:56:30Yeah, um, I'd like to use my hint now.
00:56:33If you can take a light, you can save a light.
00:56:36I don't know what that means!
00:56:38We need the code!
00:56:39We need the code!
00:56:40Code, code, code.
00:56:55Dick only gave me four cigarettes.
00:56:58Then we just need a four-digit code.
00:57:14Seven.
00:57:21Four.
00:57:28Six.
00:57:29There was a, there was a, shit, you said probably four?
00:57:35Yeah.
00:57:39God damn, no, nothing is working!
00:57:43God damn it, fuck!
00:57:44Fuck!
00:57:44Oh, my God.
00:58:21I thank you for keeping your promise.
00:58:26What promise?
00:58:32That you wouldn't let anything happen to me.
00:58:36Yeah, of course.
00:58:38I think you swore.
00:58:44Jake, I need you to promise me something else.
00:58:48Yeah, what's up?
00:58:52Promise that you won't take what's about to happen personally.
00:59:37What are you doing?
00:59:38This guy tried to fucking kill us.
00:59:40I told you before, all he ever wanted to do was help you.
00:59:45Jake, please allow for me to explain.
00:59:47No, okay? Nothing you say will ever bring Matt back to life, okay?
00:59:50Okay, Matt didn't die because of me. Matt died because of Matt.
00:59:54You can try and justify murder all you want, but at the end of the day, that's all you are.
00:59:58A murderer.
01:00:00That's only fair, but I like to refer to myself as a survivor.
01:00:06A survivor of pain, a survivor of truth, a survivor who has lived to tell the story and publish the
01:00:12book.
01:00:13Jake?
01:00:14Tell me, what do you see in this guy?
01:00:19This guy is my brother.
01:00:23Being abused by my foster parents, my brother and I grew up with this overwhelming sense of anxiety and fear.
01:00:32Danger is real, and fear is a choice.
01:00:37When me and my brother turned ten, we made a choice.
01:00:42How'd everyone get a choice?
01:00:44A choice that for the first time in our lives, instead of being victims, we were-
01:00:51We were survivors.
01:00:53Survivors?
01:00:57Your brother? He's your fucking brother? Yeah, sure, kill me, I don't give a fuck!
01:01:01Give me this one little consolation, what is- what is- what is in this?
01:01:05What is in this?
01:01:07You want the code?
01:01:09Yeah, I want the code to the safe, please.
01:01:11Sure, my pleasure.
01:01:14Code is 6742.
01:01:16Go ahead.
01:01:17Open it.
01:01:27A DVD?
01:01:29Is this some sort of fucking joke?
01:01:31Not a joke.
01:01:32It's what you've been searching for for the last two years.
01:01:48Go ahead.
01:01:49Press play.
01:01:56Hey Brad.
01:01:58It's Ryan.
01:02:00Oh my God.
01:02:02First off, I just-
01:02:04I wanna say that I'm sorry that I haven't been showing up to the Addictions Anonymous lately.
01:02:10I'm just not in a good place right now.
01:02:13Or at all.
01:02:14Really.
01:02:17You know, last week my-
01:02:21My dad, he lost his battle with cancer.
01:02:26And this week I just feel like-
01:02:29I feel like I'm losing my own.
01:02:34You know, I like to think that people care.
01:02:39But I know that they don't.
01:02:44You know, the one person who I felt truly cared about me was my best friend Jake.
01:02:49But I soon found out what I meant to him.
01:02:53He sold me pills.
01:02:56Knowing damn well I'm suicidal.
01:03:01You know, I've-
01:03:02I've made a lot of mistakes in my life.
01:03:07But the worst is to come after you see this video.
01:03:12You know, it's like I told you in the meetings before.
01:03:15We need to find a way for the others to have a new outlook on their lives.
01:03:20If you're willing to help me,
01:03:23I believe there's a way.
01:03:27Call it an experiment, if you must.
01:03:33You know, before he died,
01:03:35my dad, he finished constructing an escape room that never opened.
01:03:40And I'm giving you permission to use this location as a way to help the others.
01:03:46Right, you-
01:03:48You start off small.
01:03:49Then you help the survivors get the justice they deserve.
01:03:52No matter how you do it.
01:03:54You just make sure that they survive.
01:03:57Okay?
01:04:04Look.
01:04:07I've sent you details in the text before this video.
01:04:12And I hope you seriously consider this, Brad.
01:04:14Not everyone has a choice.
01:04:17But you do.
01:04:21Look.
01:04:22I'm sorry that I couldn't be a survivor.
01:04:26I'm sorry.
01:04:35I want you to be assured it will all be over soon enough.
01:04:41Fuck!
01:04:43Fuck!
01:04:43What is wrong with you?
01:04:45You've completely lost focus of why we agreed to do this.
01:04:49We agreed with Ryan, or so I thought,
01:04:52that we had an opportunity to make people change
01:04:54and have an opportunity to see the difference of their mistakes.
01:04:57And worse, not a statistic.
01:05:01We're survivors and danger is real.
01:05:02Fear is a choice.
01:05:03Oh my God.
01:05:04Ciara, do you really believe that bullshit?
01:05:10I...
01:05:11I believed it because it was true.
01:05:15The abuse, the trauma, the nightmares we went through every day,
01:05:18that was real for me.
01:05:21I...
01:05:22I thought we killed our parents to get away from the abuse that we were suffering.
01:05:26Not for fun or for money, but because we had no other choice.
01:05:32No, we do have a choice.
01:05:33It seems like you've completely forgotten what being a survivor is supposed to represent.
01:05:40You're right.
01:05:42You're exactly right, Ciara.
01:05:44Which is exactly why you need to kill him.
01:05:47What?
01:05:49I'm so sorry.
01:05:50Your brother's a piece of shit manipulator.
01:05:52You don't have to do this.
01:05:53Stay the fuck out of this, alright?
01:05:54You don't deserve this.
01:05:55You don't have to do everything he says.
01:05:57He's all I have to.
01:05:58Ciara, hurry the fuck up!
01:05:59Stop yelling at me!
01:06:00You can be your own person!
01:06:02Look, you've got five seconds to kill this asshole right now.
01:06:05If you don't do it, I would do it myself.
01:06:07If you're gonna kill me, then just do it.
01:06:09But remember,
01:06:11not everybody gets a choice.
01:06:14But I do.
01:06:25You know, it's like I told you in the meetings before.
01:06:28We need to find a way for the others to have a new outlook on their lives.
01:06:31You walk away with a new outlook on life that no rehab could ever provide.
01:06:36I was forced to make a choice that entailed either being locked in a room to die or to take
01:06:42justice in my own hands and take the life of my abuser.
01:06:46I'm a goddamn survivor!
01:06:49I'm done, Brad.
01:06:51The only reason I agreed to these experiments was so I could help people.
01:06:55You did this to hurt people.
01:06:58I'm tired of being the little sister that gets manipulated by her brother.
01:07:03You were never a survivor, Brad.
01:07:08I was.
01:07:18Michael, send down the key!
01:07:38Hey.
01:07:40You saved me back there.
01:07:43If you can take a life, I can save one.
01:07:49Hope it was worth it.
01:08:23You gave me some stuff.
01:08:30I'm ready for you.
01:08:30I'm favorite of the animals.
01:08:31You saved me.
01:08:31You saved me.
01:08:31I saved me.
