Jonathan Taylor Thomas Arrested After Kicking Police Officer in Stomach

Jonathan Taylor Thomas, the former child star best known for Home Improvement and the voice of young Simba in The Lion King, is making headlines for a very different reason - after an encounter with police in California reportedly turned physical.
According to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, Thomas was a passenger in a vehicle that was stopped in Westlake Village on September 21. Deputies had reportedly noticed the vehicle blocking traffic at an intersection, while the driver appeared to be intoxicated.
As deputies conducted a DUI investigation on the driver, authorities allege that Thomas repeatedly got out of the passenger seat - and approached the deputies, interfering with their investigation.
Police then attempted to detain him for alleged obstruction and public intoxication. According to authorities, that was when Thomas allegedly kicked a deputy in the stomach.
Thomas was subsequently taken to the Malibu/Lost Hills Sheriff’s Station and booked on suspicion of obstruction and public intoxication. The driver of the vehicle was also arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence.
However - there is an important detail here. Authorities say the case is being submitted to prosecutors for consideration, and no formal criminal charges had been filed at the time of the latest reports. Thomas was also released from custody after being detained for more than a day.
For fans who grew up watching him in the 1990s, the news is especially surprising. Thomas became one of the most recognizable young stars of his generation through Home Improvement - before stepping away from the Hollywood spotlight to focus on his education and life outside acting.
Now, decades after his rise to fame, the actor is once again in the headlines - this time, because of a police encounter that could potentially move forward through the legal system.
