00:37grateful that you're paying this much money for gas. Well, let me tell you, that is a bunch of

01:57A new fuel shock is hitting America. And this time the number flashing at the pump is getting
02:04dangerously close to $7 a gallon. The U.S. national average for diesel has reached a record high of
02:12nearly $6.27 per gallon. And in California, some drivers were seeing something even more startling,
02:20$8.49 for a gallon of diesel. This comes just days after the national average first crossed the $6 mark,
02:29showing just how quickly prices are moving. According to AAA, the national average reached
02:36$6.27 on September 15th, a new record. But the price shock is not stopping at the gas station.
02:45Diesel is the fuel that powers a huge part of America's transportation system.
02:50Trucks use it to move food, supplies, manufactured goods, and other products across the country.
02:56So when diesel gets more expensive, the cost of moving those products can rise too.
03:02And that is where the fuel crisis can turn into an inflation problem.
03:07Former Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene is now putting the issue directly on President Donald Trump.
03:13In a video filmed at a California gas station, Greene pointed to a diesel price of $8.49.
03:21She then compared it with $6.59 in Georgia and called both prices ridiculous.
03:27Greene also argued that Americans eventually feel higher diesel prices through the cost of everyday goods.
03:35She specifically linked the surge to the war involving Iran and said this is Trump's fault.
03:42Her comments have added a political dimension to an already growing economic problem.
03:47But what is actually driving diesel prices?
03:51The current surge is being linked to a combination of factors.
03:54The war involving Iran has disrupted major energy shipping routes, while global supplies of refined diesel and gas oil have

04:12Industry analysts say the diesel and gas oil markets are now extremely tight.

04:20The $8.49 figure Greene showed was a California pump price, not the national American average.
04:28California's fuel market has its own taxes, regulations and supply conditions, which can make prices significantly higher than the national
04:36figure.
04:37So while $8.49 is not what every American is paying, the national record of nearly $6.27 is real.
04:47And the bigger concern is what happens next.
04:50If diesel stays at these levels, trucking costs can remain elevated.
