00:00And we're now being joined by White House correspondent Kelly Mayer from New York.
00:06Kelly, all eyes are on the UN General Assembly.
00:09Donald Trump has already delivered his speech in which he made some scathing attacks at Iran, calling Iran a bully.
00:19In fact, once again, he's threatened Iran that the United States is going to hit Iran very hard,
00:24else it should strike a deal as soon as possible.
00:30Yeah, I think the comments from President Trump were something we've heard before,
00:35but not on the world stage, like at the UN and in front of the Iranian delegation,
00:41which then some of them got up and walked out.
00:44Another one just kind of stared straight ahead and heard what the president was saying.
00:50But this was something that he made clear that this is something he wants to make a decision on,
00:55whether to make a deal or not.
00:56He also said he doesn't think that this is going to happen before the midterm.
01:00So that's something that he feels this won't be complete before U.S. voters go to the polls in November.
01:07But then at the same time, the action was really on the sidelines when you had the U.S.
01:12and Iranian delegations going back and forth, really.
01:16Special Envoy Steve Wyckoff posted on X tonight that they would go back and forth through the mediators
01:21between the U.S. and Iran, and he felt that there was progress made in the mediation.
01:26The mediators will continue to work through this, but no big breakthroughs came out of that.
01:32So, Kelly, what happened in the meeting between the officials of United States and Iran?
01:37There were positive remarks that were made by the United States president after the meeting,
01:41but what exactly was discussed in this meeting?
01:46So in the behind closed doors, there was the meeting between the U.S. and Iranian delegation
01:51that the mediators were going back and forth between.
01:54We don't know the specifics of what was discussed.
01:57There wasn't a lot of nitty-gritty details that came out from it.
02:00All that we heard was what Wyckoff posted or versus what the Iranian delegation is saying.
02:06And it's hard to know exactly what was said and if anything will change from this.
02:12And again, even the president said himself that we're not expecting any movement or any deal to be made
02:17before the midterms.
02:19He feels as though the Iranians don't want to see a deal because they see how this is impacting
02:23the Republican Party and the president ahead of the midterms.
02:27But we'll see.
02:28I mean, it shows that there are discussions happening, but not necessarily anything coming from it.
02:34Is there also a possibility, Kelly, that a meeting between Donald Trump and Iranian President
02:39Masoud Pazeshkir, who's also arrived in New York, that happens?
02:43So as of right now, here in the U.S., the president is going to be making his way back
02:48to Washington.
02:49He was finishing up a meeting with, I believe it was, the president of Venezuela.
02:55So after that, he's going to be coming back to Washington.
02:58So we don't think there was any sort of meeting between the president and the Iranian president.
03:02All of this was happening on the sidelines by his aides, Special Envoy Steve Wyckoff and Jared Kushner,
03:08his son-in-law.
03:08But obviously, too, the president not only had his speech, but then he was also meeting with other world leaders.
03:14So I'm not even sure where he would have squeezed that in if he could have.
03:18But he left it really up to his negotiators to work through.
