00:00The problem starts when this sentence becomes the reason you stop working on something that
00:05keeps hurting your life. It sounds harmless, and sometimes it is. But after you do something the
00:12same way for long enough, it starts to feel permanent. Maybe you've always had trouble
00:17speaking up for yourself, so eventually you stop thinking of it as something that you struggle with
00:22and you think of it as part of your identity. And then every time you stay silent when you
00:28wanted to say something, it seems to prove the story that you believe about yourself.
00:33And after enough years, changing almost feels unnatural because you have become familiar
00:39with being the person that you became. But I do think a lot of times people confuse what they do
00:46a lot, what they're familiar with, with their identity. Something can feel completely natural
00:52just because you've done it for years. Think about how many times that you've, or how many
00:58things that you do now without even really thinking about them. But there was a time when
01:03driving felt complicated, when your job was confusing, when something you're good at took
01:06a lot of concentration. If you've seen my videos before, if you watch my daily long forms, first
01:11off, thank you. Second off, the first time you saw it, you probably were very confused. I know that
01:17because, you know, I'm live every day and I always get, this is a green screen, this is AI, this
01:21is
01:21whatever. But you know, maybe more how it operates. You at least know that I'm a real person. I hope.
01:27But the point is, things aren't how they've always been. But that doesn't necessarily mean that it
01:34is how it has to stay. And I think this matters because the way that you describe yourself
01:41honestly affects what you're willing to attempt. My favorite quote that I've ever heard, I heard
01:46it when I was like 10. Everything in your life is a reflection of your standards. So if you want
01:54to improve your life, you need to improve your standards. And things will show over time that
02:01that is the case. And the same thing can happen with discipline. If somebody spends years saying that
02:09they have no discipline, then that sentence starts doing part of the damage for them. Because every
02:16time they put something off, they expect it because that's the kind of person that they believe they
02:22are. And when they have actually a productive week or accomplish something, they feel like maybe it's
02:29just a burst or that it doesn't even count. And that's not right. It becomes very hard to build a
02:34different life. When you keep using the things from your old life as proof of who you are.
02:40We all have habits that we're not proud of. And we try to cut them out. And there's a chance
02:46you
02:47might fall back into it. And a pattern can be very strong. It can be something you repeated for years.
02:52It can be something you've repeated your whole life. And it might take a long time to change.
02:56But you might fall back into it plenty of times when you're trying.
03:00But a pattern is still something you can work on. But calling everything a part of your personality
03:06can make change sound impossible before you even try. Because I always hear, you know, it takes
03:11five times to start a habit and a thousand to break it. And that's why it might be so hard
03:14to break
03:15your habit. But if everyone has known you for years as a person who does a certain thing, who
03:22believes a certain thing, just because it's what they've seen or what they know, it doesn't mean that
03:25it's the case. And people might act surprised when they see that you're different now. But
03:32you are the person you are. And you don't want to change for someone else's perception of you.
03:37Because if you change to fit an identity that someone else formed about you, then you're not
03:43the real you. And I always say this about love. If you try to act better than you are, try
03:46to act
03:46like you have more than you will, you will never work out. Because real love is someone that loves you
03:52and loves your flaws. Because every human has flaws and problems about them. And true love is
03:56accepting the flaws and still choosing to be a better person every day. And the point is that you
04:03can choose to better yourself even if in the past you've made mistakes that weren't in line with the
04:08person you want to be. And that's part of growing up. Some things about you do stay the same, but
04:16some
04:16things need to change. I still got the same boy in me, but at times I know I'm a grown
04:22man and I can't
04:23act childish. You know what I'm saying? It's easier to sometimes believe that something is how we are
04:30because it's how we've always been, but you have to stop contributing to it. And if you keep missing
04:38opportunities because you're scared to go for it, you're scared to speak, then eventually you'll just
04:44give in to fear every time. But understanding why you believe a certain thing or why you feel a
04:48certain way matters. But you need to understand yourself enough to do something with the information.
04:57You can have compassion for why you became a certain way without deciding that you're going
05:03to remain that way forever. And that is a very important difference. Because maybe there's a real
05:09reason why you struggle to believe things, why you struggle to trust people. Maybe you have been
05:16betrayed in the past. That deserves understanding. But that doesn't mean that you should never trust or
05:22open up to someone else again just because you gave your heart to the wrong person. And I learned that
05:25the hard way. I gave my heart to somebody for three years and after three years they cheated on me,
05:30left me for the dude and told me he's a real man and I never will be. Did that hurt?
05:34Yeah.
05:34Yeah, I heard a lot. Does that mean that every woman is ever going to do that to me? No.
05:41And a lot of times your trust, your confidence comes from having enough experiences where you
05:50saw the wrong thing, where you were uncomfortable, where you, um, you know, weren't sure if you could
05:58do it but you ended up doing it. Because those times feel awkward and feel uncomfortable but they
06:03prove that you could do something that you previously avoided. People always ask, how do I do this
06:07every day? How do I, um, not have social anxiety? Well, the first times I did. I cared about what
06:13people think. And now I don't. Because I have a passion to make a difference to put videos in front
06:21of people that need to see them, that people relate to, that better somebody's life. And if
06:25somebody driving by thinks I look stupid and doesn't understand, I do not care. Because if
06:31this video shapes one person to be a little bit more disciplined or love themselves or trust
06:38themselves a little more, then that is all I could ever ask for. So if you, you know, want to
06:46become
06:46more confident doing something, the easiest step is to just do it. If you want to become someone who
06:53follows through and completes things, the easiest step is to just finish them. When, um, quitting,
06:58when you feel like quitting. That won't really happen overnight. You're not going to do it one
07:03time and then feel okay to do it. Um, honestly, it probably took me a year of doing this every
07:08single day until I truly didn't care what the next stranger thought as they were passing by.
07:13Um, because I'm not being a disruptor, you know, if you watch my live streams or anything,
07:17you see I always stay out of people's way. You know, that I've never said anything negative,
07:21anything controversial. I've never later, I've never done anything wrong in my streams.
07:26So I know that I'm content with the person that I am doing this and I'm content knowing that I'm
07:31not doing something that makes anybody's life worse. And if somebody thinks you're weird for
07:36doing something, that's fine. Mr. Beast is the biggest YouTuber on the planet by far. Do you know
07:41when he was in middle school, he got bullied over and over because all he ever talked about was
07:45YouTube. All he cared about is YouTube. Look at him now and look at the people that bullied him now.
07:49Dude, like who cares what people think? If you're in school, did you know 90% of the people you
07:55talk
07:55to every day you'll never speak to again? That's probably closer to 95%. And honestly, even if you
08:02do see him again, why do you care? Because it's your life. If Mr. Beast listened to somebody,
08:07he wouldn't be there. If I listened to people who told me it's stupid, I wouldn't be here.
08:12The point is to know the difference between accepting who you are or accepting what people
08:18tell you are or giving up on something that you're still that you're still capable of bettering or
08:23improving. So the next time you hear yourself saying this is just who I am, pay attention to
08:31what comes after it. If you are talking about something harmless that makes it yourself, that's
08:35no problem. But if that sentence keeps showing up, you know, before a behavior that hurts you or hurts
08:43somebody else, then do not let that sentence end the conversation. Maybe you have been this way for
08:50a long time, but there still leaves a lot of time for you to become someone different. So you have
08:58to
08:58stop telling yourself, this is just who I am.
