Leshy — The Terrifying Forest Spirit of Slavic Folklore 🌲.

The Leshy is a mysterious forest spirit from Slavic folklore, traditionally associated with the protection of forests, animals, plants, and trees. Different traditions describe him in different ways, including as a pale, green-eyed, green-bearded shapeshifter capable of changing his size dramatically.

Folklore also says the Leshy could imitate sounds and confuse people who wandered into his forest. Yet he was not always portrayed as purely evil: some traditions connect him with protecting wildlife and allowing respectful hunting and gathering.
