00:00This is going to be a very chaotic episode.
00:02Go on, have a guess.
00:04AI Plus.
00:04It's there.
00:05There you go.
00:06I knew there was AI in there.
00:07This is the moment where PC gaming handhelds can finally do the thing that the Nintendo
00:12Switch 2 does so well.
00:13Welcome to a very special episode of Handheld Showdown.
00:17We're coming to you from Computex in Taipei, our favorite tech event of the year, where
00:21we get our first look at some of the coolest upcoming gaming hardware releases, and this
00:25year did not disappoint.
00:26Today, I'm joined with the Jason England.
00:29Hi.
00:32It's been a very exciting time at Computex for gaming handhelds.
00:35Everything over the past couple of years, it's felt very much like, oh, it's a 5% increase
00:41in frame rates.
00:42It's a 10% increase here and there, maybe a little smidgen of additional power efficiency
00:48and stuff like that, whereas now it feels like a big leap forward.
00:52So we've gone hands-on with all these brand new handheld devices.
00:55We're going to share the ones that we're most excited for, which ones we think are going
00:59to be the biggest of the year, the most expensive of the year, and which ones have us questioning,
01:03should this even be released?
01:04Despite the fact that we have been reviewing these for several years now, we're seeing
01:08things that are so new that we're actually excited to revisit these devices.
01:13And the main news has been Intel Arc G3, frankly, bringing the next generation to handheld gaming
01:19in something like this, the MSI Claw 8 EX AI Plus, which I've not been able to put down
01:25the entire time I've had it.
01:27We got it the other night.
01:28We unboxed it in my hotel room.
01:30This is like 11 p.m.
01:31It's his birthday, by the way, right?
01:32It's 11 p.m.
01:33He's like, can we please unbox it today?
01:35Because I want to play some games.
01:37And normally I'd be like, dude, go away.
01:39I want to go to bed.
01:40I've been up since five in the morning, but you know what?
01:42I'm nice.
01:42It's his birthday.
01:43We unboxed it.
01:44But he, like he said, has not been able to put it down since.
01:47And that's really kind of like the theme of like this event.
01:51So you know which handheld I actually found most surprising that we saw?
01:55Which one was that?
01:55It was the ASUS ROG Xbox Ally X 20.
02:00There's been 19 other ROG Xbox Ally Xs.
02:03It's actually, like, you know, it's for their special 20th anniversary of the ROG brand.
02:08And it actually does bring some pretty cool updates.
02:12I'm not going to say upgrades, really.
02:14It feels like the Xbox Ally X S.
02:17You know what I mean?
02:18Yeah.
02:18It's more quality of life stuff.
02:20You've got the new OLED display in there.
02:22You've got the D-pad that can either be four-way or eight-way just by rotating it.
02:26And then it's also fully translucent.
02:27So as somebody who likes transparent tech, I'm a bit of a nerd like that.
02:31Just to get to see all the heat pipes and everything running in the back of it is pretty sick
02:35with the gold accent.
02:36So when we posted our first hands-on, a lot of you were very excited about the new device,
02:40especially with the green Xbox button.
02:43But you know what a lot of people say?
02:44It's like, why wasn't this the original Xbox Ally X?
02:47A lot of people also said, hey, I just picked one up.
02:50I regret picking one up now.
02:51Like, had I known that this is what was coming out, I would have waited.
02:55It's all very much about quality of life updates with this one.
02:59So you've got the improved thermal management inside, so you can run it at that top 35-watt TDP for
03:05a much more sustained experience.
03:06And then on top of that, you've got the rubberized grips.
03:09And of course, you've got that familiar ROG Xbox design.
03:12So it's one of the more comfortable handhelds as well.
03:15I didn't notice the difference until it looked like an older ROG Xbox Ally is the screen size.
03:22It's gone slightly bigger, hasn't it?
03:24So from 7 inches to 7.4, so even though the device looks like it's the same size, the bezels
03:30are smaller.
03:31And that's how they've squeezed in that larger display.
03:33Yeah.
03:33And so at first, you're not going to really notice or appreciate the extra 0.4 inches.
03:37I'm not saying that's not a lot, guys.
03:39But what I am saying is that OLED, that OLED is nice.
03:42Yeah.
03:42So especially when we were playing it outdoors and comparing it with the LCD screen, I could see what was
03:47happening on screen a lot better.
03:49Even though the camera wasn't really picking it up as well, to my eyes, it was a much more enjoyable
03:54experience.
03:55Oh, 100%.
03:55Like, when you think about, like, these people, like, what, what, we're recording here.
04:03Can everyone not stop what they're doing for us?
04:07He perfectly frame holds.
04:08I'm not going to hold my frame.
04:10He can do what he wants.
04:12I'll 100% agree.
04:13In terms of, like, the actual user experience on this, this is one of the more well-put-together handhelds.
04:19Previously, like, the two popular handhelds were, like, the ROG Xbox LAX and the Steam Deck OLED.
04:24Yeah.
04:24It's like, oh, I can get the beautiful screen or I can get the better performance and the better grips.
04:28And Asus is like, wait, hold the phone.
04:31I'll do that.
04:32Let me just bring OLED to it, right?
04:34Yeah.
04:35And in terms of, like, looking at the whole lineup of what we saw here at Computex, it definitely has
04:40the best display in terms of having that OLED there, in terms of the flash flood of color that you're
04:46just smacked in the face with.
04:48But also, a lot of people were very curious about coming bundled with AR glasses.
04:51Yes, that would be the Asus ROG Xreal R1 AR glasses.
04:56So, these are essentially other gaming glasses.
05:00I've been testing them for a little bit.
05:02I've actually brought them on the flight with me over to Taipei here.
05:04Think like the Xreal 1 Pro glasses, but more gamery.
05:08And you can tell that from the aesthetic where whenever I'm wearing them, I'm looking like I'm about to offer
05:12people if they want to take the blue pill or the red pill.
05:15It's the look we're all going for.
05:16Oh, yes.
05:182001 is so back.
05:20Asus promotes the OLED display, the ROG Nebula HDR display.
05:24And it's a gorgeous display from what I've been looking at.
05:26But then they put glasses in there as well.
05:29So, like, what are we talking about here?
05:31Their main selling point, which is kind of confusing to me, the fact that they're bundled in with these, is
05:36the fact that it has a 240 hertz refresh rate, which is super exciting.
05:41But you need a dock connected by DisplayPort into a desktop tower.
05:47So, you're locked at 120 with these glasses connected to the ROG Ally, unless they've got some magical Thunderbolt connectivity
05:56that I don't know about.
05:58So, I get the appeal of, like, okay, I'm using this handheld on the go.
06:01And now I'm going from my now 7.4 inch screen to, what is it, 100 inches, 200 inches?
06:06Yeah, it can go up to, like, 271 inches.
06:09Okay, so a massive screen.
06:11So, that's really cool.
06:12But now if I need to get its full performance, I now need to use a dock, that doesn't sound
06:16very portable.
06:17No, not particularly, no.
06:18And don't get me wrong.
06:20Like, using the glasses on the go, a lot of fun.
06:23And being able to play it while also not getting neck pain and stuff like that.
06:26While you can just, like, sit back and just play whatever games you want on, like, a massive screen in
06:32front of you.
06:32And turn your tiny seat in the economy class into feeling something a bit more premium.
06:38Economy seat, but first class gaming.
06:40Exactly.
06:41Nice, nice.
06:42These glasses on their own are $849.
06:47So, what does that mean alongside a $1,000 handheld?
06:52So, now you're adding on $850 or whatever your glasses.
06:55Are we looking at a $2,000 console because it's, like, a special edition and they're marking it up?
07:00Or is it going to be, oh, because it's bundled together, it's going to be $1,500?
07:03Being blunt, I think it's going to be more.
07:05Yeah.
07:06They know people want that design.
07:09But how many people want that design plus glasses?
07:12All of these different sort of machinations, it's like, it's a special edition with an OLED display and a fresh
07:17design.
07:18That's probably going to up the cost a little bit.
07:20They're going to put glasses in with it as well.
07:22I think the glasses are a way to cover for what is going to be quite a sharp increase in
07:28the price of the memory inside.
07:30In my head, I'm thinking, do they have a huge stock of R1 glasses that they're trying to, like, unload?
07:36And they're like, hmm, what if we bundle it with this very popular device?
07:40But let me ask you this.
07:41If someone recently picked up an ROG Xbox Ally X, should they sell it and upgrade to this?
07:46Like, does that make sense?
07:48Like, are there enough?
07:50No, I don't really agree either.
07:51But a lot of you have been asking that question.
07:53I know a lot of you are going to probably be making that decision.
07:56It is, without a doubt, a better handheld.
07:59But, and this is what we're going to get into next.
08:01The performance is unchanged.
08:03We are still stuck with the AMD Ryzen Z2 AI Xtreme, whatever the hell it's called.
08:10And I say stuck with, as if it's a bad chip.
08:13Whereas, actually, it kind of isn't.
08:15It's still a pretty good chip.
08:17But as we started getting the rumblings, and as we started to find out just that little bit more that
08:23it's a new ally.
08:25So, what did that mean, new chip?
08:27Yeah, given that we've had all of these other handhelds that come with this new Intel chip,
08:32which we'll go into in a couple of minutes, surely this thing would have that.
08:36ASUS is thinking it can go from the ROG Xbox Ally X to the ROG Xbox Ally X20 with an
08:43OLED display.
08:45And probably charge way more because the RAM price has gone up.
08:49So, then they're going to throw in some AR glasses in there as well.
08:51And let's be honest, the Z2 Extreme AI or AI Extreme is 5% to 10% better than the
08:58Z1 Extreme that we saw with the original Xbox Ally,
09:01which came out in 2023.
09:04Exactly.
09:05Okay.
09:05Which is a handheld I still have because I bought it at a great price.
09:09It's still a great size.
09:10And as much as I appreciate the upgrades the Ally X, Xbox, Ally X has brought, it hasn't,
09:17I still need that performance increase to justify upgrading to another device.
09:21It's downgraded my hype from being, this thing could be massive,
09:26to then when I actually got my hands on with it, to a, it's fine.
09:30It's fine.
09:30It's nice.
09:31Like, again, all these minor things do add up.
09:34The rubberized grips, the better screen, the cooler design.
09:38Like, it feels like a special edition.
09:40It's definitely not a new device, though.
09:43It's a special edition that doesn't really feel that special.
09:49So, yeah.
09:50Yeah, I said it.
09:51Yeah, he said it.
09:52Yeah, bring it in.
09:53Okay, I'll hold your hand.
09:56But what if you took the ROG Xbox Ally X's best feature,
10:00its larger Xbox-style controls on the back,
10:03combined it with a larger screen,
10:05and actually upgraded its internals and made meaningful performance upgrades?
10:10Well, you get the MSI CLAW 8 EX.
10:16Gone.
10:17AI Plus.
10:18It's there.
10:18There you go.
10:19I knew there was AI in there.
10:20This is the device that caught you and I's attention,
10:23and I think just about everyone else's.
10:25For a lot of reasons,
10:26I think this is going to be the most exciting handheld of 2026.
10:30You can also tell there's been a lot of time put into the crafting of the design of this thing.
10:35They were saying they wanted to give you as close of that Xbox traditional controller.
10:39In a handheld form factor,
10:41and I think they've come very, very close to that.
10:43Yeah, and then there's also the haptics of it.
10:45It feels like a PS5 DualSense controller moment for handhelds
10:49in terms of the real sort of sharp haptic feedback that you can get in it.
10:52A similar vibration engine to something that you would find in an iPhone kind of thing.
10:56Here's what I think is really interesting.
10:58One of the demos we did see is this plugged in and connected to a TV
11:04using a wireless Xbox controller and using this as your home console as well.
11:09Obviously, this isn't going to be to the level of like a Series X,
11:11but with all the improvements of the G3 Extreme,
11:14it is an actual generational leap over what we've been used to so far.
11:21Pause it.
11:23I'm keeping that in.
11:24Intel claims a 42% improved frame rate over the Ryzen Z2 AI Extreme,
11:29and these are running at the same wattages.
11:31Probably the most shockingly impressive claim for me.
11:35This thing is capable of the same frame rates,
11:39the same frames per second of the Ryzen Z2 AI Extreme handhelds at half the power.
11:45That, to me, is the biggest breakthrough that I don't think people are really talking about.
11:49They're all going in like,
11:50oh, it's got faster frames and everything.
11:52That's great.
11:53But also...
11:54Because one of the main reasons you want to get one of these, right,
11:57is to play it on the go.
11:58Yeah.
11:59Usually when you're playing it on the go, you're playing it on its battery.
12:02Yeah.
12:02You always have to get that strategic of like,
12:04whenever you play on your handheld in like...
12:0730 minutes here, 30 minutes there.
12:08Yeah, exactly.
12:09And then, like for me,
12:11my handheld is not exactly that handheld anymore
12:13because the Steam Deck battery is just completely cooked.
12:15I got mine in 2022.
12:17So I have a big ass battery pack that I carry in my backpack.
12:20And one of these silver bullets that Intel uses to get to this point
12:25is what they call XCSS 3.
12:27It's resolution scaling that can use the GPU
12:30to render a much lower resolution of the game
12:33and then blow it all the way up to the full 1200p.
12:36And then there's also multi-frame generation as well,
12:38which is the GPU will render two frames
12:40and then the AI bit in the middle will just predict three of them.
12:44And then that gives you the smoother frame rate and things like that.
12:47That's all well and good.
12:48But what does that actually mean for gaming on one of these?
12:51So for context, when I went to the MSI demo,
12:53I got to play three games.
12:55I got to play F125, I got to play Battlefield 6,
12:58and I got to play Hogwarts Legacy.
13:00And we got to like manipulate them in particular ways and stuff.
13:03But as you always get with these demos,
13:04it's very much like,
13:05okay, these are the games we want you to play.
13:08Yes.
13:08These are the ones that have been optimized, right?
13:10Like that's going to be their best case scenario.
13:13To kind of give you some frame rates in this realm,
13:16Battlefield 6 at 1200p high
13:19with XCSS 3 resolution scaling set to performance,
13:22but with no frame gen,
13:23you're looking at around 65 frames per second,
13:26which is really impressive.
13:28If you go for something a little bit more optimized,
13:30so thinking F125 on like medium to low settings,
13:33you can easily break the 180 frames barrier,
13:36which is beyond anything I've ever seen,
13:39anything from AMD handheld.
13:41The big question.
13:42Right.
13:42With this device, right?
13:44Sounds good.
13:45When are we getting it?
13:46How much is it going to cost?
13:48MSI told us they're targeting to release this June 23rd,
13:52I think.
13:52And they said they're targeting $1,500,
13:56but where I'm a little bit confused.
13:58Have you seen the Best Buy pre-orders open up?
14:00I have indeed.
14:01I think it was something like $1,700, $1,699.
14:05This is the big sort of like pinned to the balloon of hype
14:09that we've been seeing around here,
14:11which is getting dangerously expensive.
14:15We're well into like mid to high end gaming laptop territory right now.
14:19They are fully aware of the challenges of Ramageddon, Rampocalypse.
14:26You can see that in a lot of device pricing.
14:29And also if you go around the show floor and start asking people,
14:32oh yeah, how much this thing is to go in the car?
14:34Stop asking about it.
14:35Okay.
14:36We kind of teased to it already,
14:37but there is a new player in the handheld scene with...
14:40Acer.
14:40They've been very much like the bridesmaid, never the bride.
14:44When it's come to like other companies doing it.
14:46It's always been dominated by MSI, Asus, Lenovo.
14:50But their comeback tour is back on with the Predator Atlas 8
14:54because they are stuffing ARC G3 and ARC G3 Extreme in here.
14:58And also you may look at the spec sheets and see like 24 gigs of them.
15:03That's a little bit less than the Claw 8 EXAR+.
15:06That's the first thing I noticed, like, so in terms of similarities and differences,
15:10it's a little bit more of that more traditional handheld design
15:14that we've seen for a while.
15:15You don't have like the deeper grooves here.
15:17It's more of a uniform body.
15:19You also still have the 8-inch display,
15:21but like you said, only 24 gigabytes of RAM.
15:24So do you think that could be problematic
15:25or could they use that to their advantage?
15:27I believe they could.
15:29I mean, let's go through like the ergonomics
15:31that you were talking about there,
15:32which completely agree with you.
15:34Like, there's definitely something that feels a little bit nicer about this thing.
15:39Like, the buttons here feel quite a bit more tactile.
15:41Whereas when I was trying the Atlas 8,
15:44you kind of feel like the face buttons are a little bit spongier in a way.
15:49It does have two-stop triggers though,
15:52which you can change from either going like full analog
15:55to just being like a simple tap,
15:57which is really good in like either going from racing games or shooters
16:01and things like that.
16:03And as you were saying,
16:04there isn't really as much of a hand grip around it
16:08compared to the much more pronounced grips
16:10on the side of this thing here.
16:12None of that may matter
16:13because they're putting less RAM in it,
16:17which ultimately,
16:18I don't think that's going to impact performance massively.
16:22That's not going to be the bottleneck for most of your games.
16:24It's not going to be the biggest bottleneck, no,
16:26because the CPU and the GPU are working in tandem really well here.
16:30One of the things that you'll hear Intel talking about
16:32is this thing,
16:34the CPU part of this chip may have performance cores,
16:38but almost all of the game's logic and math
16:42and telling the GPU what to do
16:44will run almost entirely on the efficiency cores
16:47because they are good enough to run the games.
16:50So it's already a stupidly fast chip
16:55and the RAM,
16:57there's already enough headroom there
16:58to kind of fit a lot of this stuff.
17:01But ultimately,
17:02in terms of like the actual handheld holding in your hand experience,
17:06it's not as good as this,
17:09but will that matter if it's cheaper?
17:13It's middle of the pack.
17:14Like it didn't really have anything that stood out to me
17:16that made me think like,
17:17oh, of all the handhelds that we've seen
17:19and tested out that I'm like,
17:20oh, this is the one I want to take back
17:22to my hotel room and play games on.
17:24Yes, the build quality doesn't quite feel like this.
17:27It's got the same sort of like
17:28variable refresh rate display in it,
17:30eight inch IPS.
17:31Acer has the potential to do something very stupid here.
17:35Don't we all?
17:37Well, almost at all points in my life, yes.
17:39But they also have the potential
17:41to do something very smart here as well.
17:43So yeah,
17:43I think hopefully the Predator
17:46becomes the handheld that people get
17:47when they want a good mix of performance
17:49and lower cost.
17:51But let's say you only have $200, right?
17:54I think Acer has come up with a very interesting device
17:57and I have a lot of questions for you.
17:59Okay.
18:00I got to see the Acer Blaze Link
18:02and at first I thought,
18:03oh, this is kind of their answer
18:05to the Logitech G Cloud.
18:07This is basically a shell of a device
18:09that requires a host PC
18:12which runs the game.
18:13So you have your powerful gaming laptop
18:15or your gaming PC
18:16that runs the games
18:16and then stringing it to this device.
18:18So it's like the PS Portal
18:20of PC games.
18:22And honestly,
18:23given that we have devices
18:25like the Logitech G Cloud,
18:27given that,
18:27you know,
18:28your iPad,
18:30your phone
18:31can cloud stream games
18:33or you can use Steam Link
18:34and play your games
18:35from your PC
18:35to those devices.
18:37I don't know why this device exists.
18:40This and something like
18:42the PlayStation Portal
18:43before it got its cloud gaming update
18:45were only useful
18:47for one key thing,
18:48which is playing games
18:50while your wife
18:52watches Bake Off
18:52on the main TV.
18:54Shout out to Kim.
18:54But
18:56the main issue
18:59is
19:01A,
19:01your PC needs to be always on.
19:04Hell,
19:04like I do use Steam Link
19:06on my Steam Deck
19:07to like play stuff
19:08when I'm on the couch
19:09and I don't want to walk
19:10the five feet
19:11to my PC
19:12to like sit down and play.
19:13And the main difficulty
19:14with that is
19:15it's such a
19:17specific use case
19:19that a lot of people
19:20just don't have.
19:21Streaming your games
19:22from a PC
19:23is also going to have
19:23other issues, right?
19:25Like latency.
19:26This is a Wi-Fi 6 device.
19:27It's not even Wi-Fi 6E, right?
19:29So you're very much
19:30dependent on
19:31a stable internet connection
19:33in your proximity
19:33to a router.
19:34If you are doing
19:35this whole like
19:36cloud streaming
19:37from your PC thing,
19:38if you are at home
19:39next to your PC
19:40or your PS5
19:41or your portal,
19:42it's fine.
19:43But you know
19:44this whole like
19:44use case scenario
19:45that they talk about
19:46where it's like,
19:47oh, so long as you're
19:47on a Wi-Fi network
19:48anywhere in the world,
19:49you can connect to it
19:50just fine.
19:51That sucks ass.
19:52Don't do that.
19:53When you were testing it out,
19:55I heard that
19:56the latency was terrible.
19:58No, no, no.
19:58It wasn't.
19:58Okay.
19:59By terrible,
20:00you mean the game
20:00didn't even open.
20:01Oh, okay.
20:02I'll give it a bit
20:03of a pass in that
20:04like, you know,
20:05we were on
20:05the convention floor Wi-Fi.
20:07But I think
20:07maybe just early software,
20:09the convention floor Wi-Fi,
20:11maybe all that
20:11mixed together.
20:12No, we couldn't even
20:13get the game to run at all.
20:14But imagine
20:14you have this device
20:15and that happens to you.
20:16You're ready.
20:17You just got off of work.
20:17You just got back
20:18from school.
20:19You're ready to get
20:19into your game.
20:20And now you have to do
20:21a bunch of troubleshooting.
20:22That doesn't seem to me
20:24like the seamless experience
20:25that they're going after.
20:26And again,
20:27the thing that still
20:28I can't wrap my head around
20:30is like,
20:30if we have already
20:31had devices like the PS Portal
20:32bring dedicated cloud gaming
20:35as well there,
20:36is this device
20:37just not strong enough,
20:38powerful enough
20:39to allow for local cloud streaming
20:43without the reliance
20:44of a host device?
20:46It's a baffling decision
20:48holding it in your hands wise
20:49in terms of like
20:50button pressing
20:50and stuff like that
20:51when it got set out.
20:52It all felt pretty cheap.
20:53Yeah.
20:54Which would again
20:55be forgivable
20:55if they could hit
20:56a good price point.
20:57But I wouldn't be surprised
20:58if this thing came out
20:59and it was at least $150.
21:01Which at that point,
21:03you know,
21:03I would highly recommend
21:04spending the extra cash
21:06and trying to get
21:08a used or older
21:09like ROG ally.
21:12Well, I mean,
21:13at that point,
21:13like that can easily get you
21:16six, seven months
21:17of GeForce now.
21:18So why get the device
21:20to do it
21:20when you could just
21:21get the thing straight away?
21:22Okay.
21:23So for right now,
21:24it feels like Intel
21:25has kind of won
21:26the gaming handheld
21:27Computex show.
21:30Yeah, right.
21:31This is only the start.
21:32G3 Extreme
21:33is coming to a lot more devices
21:34that we are excited to
21:35to hopefully test
21:36once they do release.
21:37But what does that mean
21:38largely for the other players?
21:40AMD,
21:41I know Nvidia
21:41has some kind of
21:43interesting new releases.
21:44So let's start with AMD
21:45because they have
21:48a massive catch-up game
21:50to do now.
21:50I think it's no secret
21:51that we'll get
21:52a Z3 Extreme
21:53at some point.
21:54When?
21:54Nothing's been confirmed
21:55or anything.
21:56And I don't know
21:56where it'll come
21:58down the line.
21:59Like, give or take
22:00a new Deus and a CPU
22:01or two.
22:02AMD is probably
22:03a bit busy
22:04with the bit
22:04that makes some
22:05more money than this.
22:06but that's not
22:08to say that gaming
22:09was their bread and butter.
22:11But one of the things
22:12that Intel has proven
22:13with XCSS 3
22:15and multi-frame gen
22:16is that
22:17backwards compatibility
22:18is possible.
22:19So I don't know
22:20if you knew this
22:21but on the old
22:22MSI Claw 8 AI Plus
22:24and the MSI Claw
22:26before that
22:27with the Intel
22:27Core Series 1
22:29and the old one
22:29and the Series 2
22:30and this one
22:31they can both do
22:32XCSS 3
22:33and multi-frame generation
22:34now because they've
22:36got that model
22:36working across
22:37all the systems.
22:38So it's proven
22:39to be possible
22:40an older
22:40and technically
22:41on paper
22:42weaker silicon
22:43than what AMD's
22:44been making.
22:45It's definitely
22:46possible on something
22:47like the Ryzen Z2
22:48Xtreme
22:48to get that
22:49AI trickery going.
22:50You think maybe
22:51they're just waiting
22:51to make sure
22:52they get it right?
22:53Exactly.
22:54They would be daft
22:55to not do so
22:57given the fact
22:59that Intel's about
23:00to drink all of
23:01AMD's milkshake
23:02right now.
23:02But in more
23:03exciting news
23:04Yeah, let's
23:06get to the
23:06exciting stuff
23:07so let's
23:08talk about
23:09the super
23:09high prices
23:10of what that
23:12could get you
23:12and that's
23:14where NVIDIA's
23:15RTX Spark chip
23:16comes in.
23:18Obviously at the
23:18moment
23:19it's just
23:20talking about
23:20laptops
23:21and their
23:22main focus
23:23is to
23:23reinvent the
23:24PC
23:25but
23:26there's that
23:27little line
23:28in their
23:29press release
23:29and
23:30in my
23:31time
23:31testing it
23:32that shows
23:33it has
23:34the same
23:35graphical
23:35capability
23:36as an
23:37RTX 5070
23:38while also
23:40running
23:40way lower
23:41wattages.
23:42So would this
23:42be something
23:43similar to
23:44you know
23:45when the
23:46when Apple
23:47first introduced
23:47the M series
23:48chips?
23:49Yes, this is
23:50their Apple
23:50silicon moment
23:51in terms of
23:51bringing
23:51max power
23:53with impressive
23:55power efficiency
23:55to kind of
23:56balance them
23:57out as well
23:57into one
23:58ARM chip.
23:59That immediately
24:00got me thinking
24:00about handheld
24:01gaming because
24:01this isn't
24:03NVIDIA's first
24:04rodeo to this.
24:04It shows that
24:05they have that
24:06capability because
24:07it's like in the
24:08Nintendo Switch
24:08it is an ARM
24:09chip with an
24:10NVIDIA GPU
24:11on it.
24:12Now NVIDIA's
24:13got their own
24:13thing that has
24:15a frankly
24:16monstrous
24:17graphics card
24:17on it.
24:19What would be
24:20the possibility
24:21of seeing
24:21something like
24:22that in a
24:23handheld?
24:24The answer
24:24came down to
24:25like three key
24:25things.
24:26One, their
24:27focus at the
24:28moment is on
24:29reinventing the
24:30PC and doing
24:31all of their
24:32authentic AI
24:33stuff, however
24:33you feel about
24:34that.
24:35Number two
24:35is all of
24:37the ARM
24:38compatibility
24:38things that
24:39they have to
24:40work through
24:40at the moment.
24:41So Qualcomm's
24:42been having
24:43this problem
24:43with Snapdragon
24:44X Elite
24:44laptops where
24:45they have an
24:46emulation layer
24:47that can run
24:48apps that are
24:49built for
24:49Intel and AMD
24:50chips.
24:51It can run
24:51it just fine.
24:52It just makes
24:53that laptop way
24:54less power
24:54efficient.
24:56And NVIDIA's
24:57going to face
24:58those same
24:58problems with
24:59games.
24:59They do run
25:00super smooth.
25:01I don't know
25:01what it does
25:02for battery life.
25:03And then also
25:04more importantly
25:05on top of
25:05that is the
25:07anti-cheap
25:08stuff.
25:09So talking
25:09about BattleEye
25:10and things like
25:11that.
25:11Am I actually
25:11going to be able
25:12to play my
25:12competitive games
25:13on this new
25:14device?
25:14Exactly.
25:15NVIDIA did
25:16confirm they've
25:17got them all
25:18working.
25:18And then number
25:20three is their
25:21very open-ended
25:22call to action
25:23saying, if
25:25somebody wants
25:25to work on
25:26one, we'll
25:27work with
25:28them.
25:29Now, do I
25:30think there's
25:31going to be an
25:32MSI Claw
25:32RTX Spark?
25:34No, because
25:35it's going to be
25:36$5,000.
25:37Do I think
25:38that smaller
25:40companies, like
25:41think like a
25:41One X player
25:42or something like
25:43that, decides to
25:45do the crazy
25:46thing and put
25:47that chip in
25:48there?
25:48That's where my
25:48mind was going.
25:49I'd say there's
25:50a strong
25:50possibility of
25:51that.
25:52That's probably
25:52a good place to
25:53leave it because
25:54we have probably
25:56seen one of the
25:57most exciting
25:58years in
25:59handhelds, not
26:00just in the
26:00handhelds that we
26:01are handholding
26:02right now.
26:03We know that
26:04there is a lot
26:05more in the
26:06tank.
26:06Yeah.
26:06Right?
26:07I think that's
26:07a good way to
26:07put it.
26:08Exactly.
26:08And again,
26:09that's why we
26:09are super
26:10excited by this
26:11year's Computex
26:12and this year's
26:13handheld releases,
26:14but we want to
26:15know what you
26:15guys think.
26:16What handheld are
26:17you most excited
26:18to get your
26:18hands on?
26:19And maybe more
26:20importantly, how
26:21much are you
26:21actually willing to
26:22pay for a
26:23handheld like
26:23this?
26:24Go ahead and
26:24let us know in
26:25the comments.
26:25Thanks for
26:25watching and
26:26until next one,
26:27we'll catch you
26:27later.
26:27I gotta go play
26:28more games.
26:29Bye.
26:30If you want to
26:31know the best
26:31part of Computex,
26:35socks and
26:35flops, boy.
26:37Bye.
