00:23not identify the source of the sound that is until now experts say these haunting marine sounds are
00:29actually the calls of the birds whale moving across vast areas of open ocean they say they
00:43weren't able to identify it before because birds whale populations and movements around our planet's
00:47oceans are not well known but further research in the area narrowed down the culprit of the sound
00:52with researchers identifying nine specific whales they believe the calls came from and this provides
00:57new evidence for even broader distribution of these marine mammals and suggests higher numbers
01:01of them in western north pacific waters with the researchers concluding we identified a consistent
01:07seasonal presence of bio twangs only in the mariana archipelago and to the east at wake island this
01:12suggests the bio twang may be a call specific to a western north pacific population of birds whales
