59 Egyptian Soldiers Were Buried Together… 🏺 | Ancient Egypt

This wasn’t a pharaoh’s tomb.

Near Luxor, archaeologists discovered the remains of at least 59 soldiers from Egypt’s Middle Kingdom. Evidence of battlefield injuries was found on the remains, and bows and arrows were buried with them.

The original excavator connected the soldiers to the period of Egypt’s reunification under Mentuhotep II, although that interpretation is not considered proven.
