00:01Colombian megastar Shakira kickstarted her first of a series of concerts in Madrid,
00:06where she will end her tour and marks her first performance in Spain in 8 years
00:10since her split from former footballer husband Gerard Piquet.
00:14The 49-year-old Hips Don't Lie and Waka Waka singer performed to a crowd of over 50,000 people
00:20at the Pop-Up Shakira Stadium, erected in the south of the Spanish capital for her 12 scheduled shows.
00:26She's performing a curated list of 25 songs, which include some of her biggest hits,
00:31and also her latest album, the 12th release of her illustrious career, and concerts that last roughly 2 hours.
00:38Her return to Madrid also comes after she was ordered to pay a 7.3 million euro fine in 2023
00:45as part of an agreement with Spanish courts, in which she pleaded guilty to avoid having to stay in trial
00:50for tax fraud.
00:52Addressing her fans and overwhelmed by her return to Spain following her messy and highly public divorce,
00:58an emotional Shakira said, quote,
