00:02Ah, yes. It's time for Shine's Lines. Last week, 9 and 7. Last night, a victory. We're
00:11going to keep it rolling for week number two. My guest this week, the one and only Katie
00:15Mox, who's nice enough to be with us here on Shine Time. Katie, how are you? I'm good.
00:22First of all, I'm so happy to be on with you. I miss spending Sundays with you, so I'm excited
00:27to do this with you. I was in Tokyo last week, so I missed a lot of the week one
00:33games because
00:33it's a good 16 hours ahead, but I'm excited to be back and just get into football. Katie is the
00:39best
00:39when it comes to picking games, and she studies it, and she's all over it, and I'm going to need
00:44some
00:44more information about that Tokyo trip at a different time. That sounds absolutely incredible,
00:49but let's get into some of these games here, and we've got the Washington Commanders at the Dallas
00:55Cowboys. Dallas is favored by four and a half. Who you got? I'm taking the commanders on this one.
01:02It's interesting because Dallas opened up as a smaller favorite before week one, and we've seen this
01:06creep this way. Four and a half with Washington to me, Shine, I'm just going to grab these points.
01:11I feel like Washington held its own against the Eagles in week one, which was impressive to me.
01:16It's one of the NFL's better defenses. I know they're banged up, and they're down some guys here,
01:20but for all the talk about how improved the Dallas defense was going to be, they really let me down
01:25there in week one against the Giants. They got pushed around up front. The secondary gave up way
01:31too many plays, and what was more surprising to me, Shine, is this Dallas offense looked really flat.
01:36They weren't able to put together a ton of scoring drives. I'm just not convinced that they're going
01:40to be able to create the separation to cover more than a field goal here, so I'll go ahead and
01:44grab
01:44those points with Jaden Daniels plus the four and a half. I love the Cowboys laying the four
01:50and a half. I think Dallas is still going to be great. I thought week one was more about the
01:56Giants
01:56than Dallas. I still love Dak. I think Lamb has the chops for the big moments. I still, I'm taking
02:03the cheese on that defense. I know how bad they looked against New York. Awful in every possible way.
02:09I still think that Christian Parker can coach, and Quinn Williams can play on the defensive line,
02:13and Caleb Downs, my pick for the defensive rookie of the year. I feel like I need to resettle the
02:17takes because none of them hit last week, to your brilliant point, but it's a week-to-week league.
02:23That offensive line, awful for Washington. I don't like that defense. Jaden Daniels is special.
02:29That makes me nervous, but I think the Cowboys are going to destroy the Washington Commanders
02:35coming up on Sunday. How about the Jets and the Packers, Katie? I want to get your take on this
02:40one.
02:40So here's where I'll agree with what you just said. I think there's a little bit of overreaction
02:46baked into this line. I'm going to lay the four and a half with the Packers here. Go ahead and
02:51back
02:51the pack. Geno Smith looked nearly perfect in week one. I'm just not betting that we're going to be
02:58able to see that again. We've seen flashes of him, certainly in Seattle, but the Titans made
03:02everything extremely easy on him. Green Bay's pass rush, I was actually pretty impressed or rather
03:07encouraged by, you should say, 15 pressures in week one, even without Micah Parsons. I think
03:12they're going to be able to disrupt Geno and make him uncomfortable, which is unfortunately
03:16something that the Titans were not able to do. And yes, I know, Green Bay got absolutely worked
03:20right, 39-22. They blew a double-digit lead. I believe it was a 22-0 in the fourth quarter
03:26for
03:27them, but you got to give credit to Brian Flores on this one. Minnesota blitzed 75% of the time,
03:32and the Packers' interior O-line just could not handle that well. I think that LeFleur has some
03:37history with Glenn. He knows how to handle that a little bit better. I just think the public is
03:41going to be all over the Jets on this one. So I'm willing, or I'm more willing, rather, to back
03:47the
03:47pack after a bad week one than I am to think that the Jets are going to keep this going.
03:51So I'm going to
03:51lay the four and a half. Yeah, and when you say public, obviously you're talking about me.
03:56Listen, this is one, Katie. You got to trust me on this. I know we've known each other forever.
04:00First of all, you know I never picked Jordan Love. That's number one. Number two, I said when
04:06the schedule came out, I felt like the Jets would start the season 2-0, and I said the Packers
04:12would
04:12start the season 0-2. So this is not an overreaction here. Look, I'm not going to sit here and
04:17tell you
04:18the Jets are making the playoffs, but Gino Smith is solid. It's going to rain in New York on Sunday.
04:25They can run the ball with a couple of good running backs with a strong offensive line.
04:29I don't think Green Bay is a good team at all. No Josh Jacobs in this game. No Micah Parsons

04:34this game. I'm not crowning the Jets, but I think that Aaron Glenn's team can absolutely not only come
04:42within the number, I'm taking them on the money line. Jets win this game, Katie. What do you think
04:47of that? I think you're crazy. I think you're, you know, what I will say, I have so many friends
04:55who are Jets fans, you know, long-suffering Jets fans, and hearing them talk after week one,
04:59the people, they're like, oh, well, they're going to win the Super Bowl now, and I know Gino Smith
05:02is exciting, but consistency is not always his friend, and I hear you. I know that Jordan Love
05:07has not been your favorite. He certainly has to clean up on those turnovers, but I believe more
05:11in the pack than I do in Gangrene. All right, let's get into the Pittsburgh Steelers and the
05:16New England Patriots. Got the Winglet at home. They are favored, Katie, by four and a half points.
05:20They are. I feel like such a chump here because I feel like I'm taking all favorites, but I am
05:24also
05:24going to lay the four and a half with the Patriots. I like them to bounce back at home after
05:29that week
05:29one loss to Seattle. Pittsburgh's offense was just dreadful in week one. Illegolo in total yards,
05:35the worst success rate in the NFL, just 4.1 yards per play, Shine. Okay, it's pretty nasty.
05:42When I look at New England, I think that their defense is good enough. They'll be able to collapse
05:46the pocket here, put some pressure on Aaron Rodgers, force him into those long drives,
05:50which, let's face it, Aaron Rodgers is not the quarterback that he used to be. He doesn't want
05:54to be put in those situations, and because the Patriots had a Wednesday game, they've had enough
05:59time now to adjust with life without A.J. Brown, which, of course, is a huge bummer here.
06:04I do think that New England's defense controls this game. The offense does just enough. I'm
06:09just not bought into the Steelers here, so I'm going to back the Patriots minus the four
06:12and a half. I'm going to take the Pittsburgh Steelers, and I'm not even just grabbing the
06:16points. I'm going to take them on the money line. I'm going to take Pittsburgh to win the
06:20game. They won in New England last year. That was a Super Bowl team that went ultimately
06:25representing the AFC to the big game in San Francisco. I think the Steelers are going to be
06:31great. I'm just staying very consistent from preseason takes. I like the defense. I love
06:37T.J. Wadd. I thought Patrick Graham was a great hire. They had a really good offseason. It was
06:41calculated in terms of defensive guys. They brought into the mix. I think you nailed it
06:46on the offense. They're going to be fine. I really think that Aaron Rodgers is going to
06:51be better. Mike McCarthy, Aaron Rodgers, winning ticket, winning combination. I think Rico
06:57Dowdo could have a big game. Also, no A.J. Brown. That's a big deal in this one. You got
07:03Drake May. Last five times, he's played football, including the playoffs, four games last year
07:08in week one. Five games, 11 turnovers. That is a recipe for disaster. I don't love the Patriots
07:15offensive line. Katie, I'm taking the Pittsburgh Steelers to win this game.
07:19I'm with you, but if you look at the last four games that they've played against, I mean,
07:23those have been some of the best defenses in the NFL. And I'm not saying that the Steelers
07:27aren't, but consistency with that defense has been a bit of a problem. So I'm still staying
07:31with the Patriots on this one. You make a good point. They're not the Chargers or the Texans,
07:35not the Broncos or Seattle twice, but I still think this is an improved defense. But I agree
07:41with you on that point there. Let's get to the Eagles and the Titans. And we have the Philadelphia
07:45Eagles who are favored by seven points in Nashville. I mean, I don't think anybody wants to take the
07:50Titans in any shape or form here, right? So I'm going to lay the seven with the Eagles,
07:55but this is less about backing Philadelphia, more about just fading at Tennessee. The Titans had
08:00just 55 first half yards against the Jets, only seven first downs before that final touchdown drive.
08:09Just just disgusting. And now they got to deal with Jalen Hurts and with Saquon Barkley. It's a
08:13really bad matchup shine for Tennessee here. They allowed a league high of 12 broken tackles
08:19in week one. And then if we just look at some trends here, Philadelphia has covered 10 of its
08:24last 12 games on the road following a win. Tennessee showed me very little. I think it's
08:29gonna be a long game for them. I think it's gonna be a long season for them, which is hard
08:31for me
08:32because, you know, I love me some Robert Sala, but I'll lay the seven with the Eagles. Listen,
08:36I am a big believer in Philadelphia in this specific game and you nailed it. It's not even that
08:41your backing affiliates that were anti Tennessee. They looked inept. The Jets shoved them around.
08:49I couldn't wait to lay the seven here with Philadelphia. And listen, I'm fired up because
08:55you're a big Niner fan and that's why you mentioned Robert Sala. So this line, crazy, but I can't wait
09:03to get your analysis on this with the 49ers at home and they are a 12 and a half point
09:11favorite
09:11going up against the Miami Dolphins. First of all, let's put some respect on the 49ers and you have
09:17always given the 49ers respect, which I respect out of you shine, but everybody going into week one,
09:22the paper champions, everybody thought the Rams are going to come have their way. And yes, maybe some
09:27of that is a little bit of the jet lag. I don't think a lot of people at this point
09:30agree with how
09:31the Rams went about that, but this 49ers team is a force to be reckoned with. Okay. Nobody wants to
09:36lay
09:3712 and a half points. I'll go ahead and say that even as a 49ers fan, I'm not running to
09:41the ticket
09:41window to lay 12 and a half. I hate this spread. However, after what we saw in week one, this
09:47could
09:47be an absolute bloodbath. Maybe 12 and a half isn't even enough points here. Shine. You got Malik
09:51Willis. He was sacked five times, 17 pressures against the Raiders. Now he's got to go against
09:56Nick Bosa and that 49ers front, not going to be too good for him. On the other side, Miami generated
10:02zero sacks, very little pressure. You got Brock Purdy and all of his weapons. How fun was it to
10:07watch Mike Evans as a 49ers Debo Samuel back in it? Like this is just going to be horrible for,
10:14uh, for Miami and their fans. So I'm going to lay this 12 and a half. I don't love laying
10:18numbers
10:19that big, but this could be, this could be a 16 point game. Yeah. We're on the exact same page
10:24and
10:24we're going to lay the points here with, with San Francisco. And you know, in theory, it's a big
10:29number. In theory, you say, okay, well, sports science work for San Francisco, going to Australia
10:34there a week out. Maybe, you know, you're fatigued coming back. It doesn't matter. It's Miami. Miami
10:40stinks. San Francisco has a ton of dudes. Dolphins are breaking it down to build it back up. They want
10:46Arch Manning. So I am with you here. We are going to ultimately lay the points. By the way, how

10:51do you think your Niners are going to be this year? Well, I think they're going to be great. I
10:55mean,
10:56I think people crown them way too early here. Unfortunately, you got Miles Garrett, who's going
11:00to be out for a certain amount of time. He's having surgery. You got Aaron Donald that came
11:04back, which I kind of think he's maybe questioning coming back at this point. He's not necessarily
11:08revved up to go. I think people crown them a little bit too early. Seattle, obviously still very
11:13good. There's some cracks there. I was actually pleasantly surprised to see how the Arizona Cardinals
11:17did in week one, because I think a lot of people wrote them off. But look, the 49ers, they make
11:22the
11:23playoffs at least every single year. But can I see them going all the way? Yes. If they
11:27stay healthy, which as you know, doesn't always happen. All right. I want you to take a look
11:31at the rest of my picks for week number two in the National Football League. I want to get
11:35your evaluation. Yes, I'm picking the Falcons. That is a real thing. Cooper Rush, color rush.
11:41I think Bijon could have a day. I'm going to grab the points with New Orleans. I think Chicago
11:48wins. I have so much respect for Brian Flores. I think that Justin Jefferson finds the end zone
11:52again. I'll grab the points of Minnesota. I like Houston. We reference obviously Pittsburgh.
11:57We reference the Jets. I think Tampa Bay takes care of business. We know all about Philadelphia.
12:02Love the Dallas Cowboys to take care of business. We reference that. You know, you look at all
12:07the picks here for what stands out for the rest of my picks for week two. Well, I like you
12:13taking
12:13the points with Atlanta here. I mean, Carolina obviously just gave up 59 points to Chicago.
12:18So you've got to think that that's going to be something good here. I like New Orleans
12:22as well. Tyler Shuck is just so fun to watch. He's also 8-2 against the spread in his career
12:28as a starting quarterback. So I love that. You know, Minnesota's offensive line, I felt
12:32like struggled a little bit to protect and establish the run in week one. That one kind
12:36of worries me a little bit. And I don't know about the Chargers. I know everyone's excited
12:41about Madison Beer, which I'm not saying you are. That's not you. But the offense, it's a little
12:47bit scary to me, especially with Mike McDaniel finally there. You thought that that was going
12:51to look a little bit better than it did. But I like the Seattle as well. Again, I was
12:55pleasantly surprised by the Cardinals, but I don't expect them to win against Seattle.

14:06heading to Ole Miss. Now we've talked about it all week and we're taping on a Friday and
14:10LSU is favored by three. And hey, what do you know? All of a sudden, Sam Levitt goes from
14:20doubtful to questionable. Thank goodness for the power of healing. As if anyone could have
14:27seen this coming. I mean, Sam Levitt strong. Are you kidding me? What a miracle. This is
14:33the whole point in the premise. I mean, this is a joke. When he was listed as doubtful out
14:39of nowhere the other day, we said it on shine time. Nobody believed it because this guy is
14:45a fraud. This guy is slippery. This guy is a liar. And if you don't believe me, ask everyone
14:50at Ole Miss because he quit on them like a coward last year before the college football playoffs
14:55because that's who Lane Kiffin is. Go back to yesterday. We talked about our friend Pete
14:59Thamel from ESPN and his post on X when everyone at Ole Miss didn't believe anything in terms
15:05of Levitt being on the injury report. So it's a joke. He goes from not being injured to being
15:12doubtful to being questionable. I mean, this is Lane Kiffin. This is also part of the pick and the deal
15:20here. Lane Kiffin can get away with this because he's excellent at what he does. Lane Kiffin is a
15:26sensational coach. He just is. That's why he took Ole Miss to New Heights. That's why they were pissed
15:33when he left. That's why LSU is happy to have him. Now, we ripped Lane Kiffin earlier this week when
15:39he
15:39set all the pressures on Ole Miss. That's not true. Now, obviously, you know, I love Chambliss. I
15:44think he could be the best quarterback in college football. Forget about pro prospects. We're talking
15:48about in college football for the season. And I know everyone and their mother is going to want to
15:54destroy Lane Kiffin. Everyone in Ole Miss is going to bring the heat and the hate and the fire.
16:02This is when Lane Kiffin is at his best. He's a better coach than Pete Goldman. He just is.
16:08And as much as I love Chambliss and company, I am going to take LSU to win this game.
16:14I think LSU wins. I think LSU covers. And I think, sadly, for Ole Miss, because they know
16:20it better than anyone, Lane Kiffin can flat out coach.
