00:00Tomorrow. Premier League studios can start.
00:03Congratulations on the win.
00:05Thought we'll come speaking fast, and you'll move next.
00:08Leeds, what do you make of them so far?
00:10They're third in the Premier League.
00:11Daniel Franco is doing a good job.
00:14You know, it's always good to win in Cups, different Cups,
00:19but the Premier League is our daily job,
00:24and we are late in this one because I think we deserve
00:29better in Everton and better maybe against Ipswich,
00:33and we have a lot of things to manage better in our way of playing.
00:37But now we need points, and I know that Leeds is really a good team.
00:42I saw them in Stamford Bridge against Chelsea,
00:45and I saw the game against Newcastle too, and they are really, really good.
00:50And we have to recover, to be fit in shape to play against them,
00:56and why not do what we didn't do against Ipswich?
01:01Obviously, dominant performance in your league to get the win.
01:04How easy is it for you to translate those games from the Cups,
01:08from Europe into the Premier League?
01:10Is it sort of a possible task, or is it that momentum that you need to have?
01:15I don't know if it's a way of speaking, but how easy is it never easy.
01:22Football is never easy.
01:23You see, this evening, the score was 3-0 at half-time,
01:29and the second half-time was sometimes really difficult.
01:33That's why we won this evening.
01:37We have another context in a special atmosphere,
01:42because the stadium in Leeds and with these fans are really crazy,
01:47and we have to confirm what we did well this evening.
01:50We have to do better than we did against Ipswich.
01:54We have a lot of challenges, but first of all, we need to recover,
01:58and we need to prepare our game in two days only.
02:03Obviously, the international break is coming up.
02:04This is the last game to get some more points in the Premier League board.
02:08A lot of managers have spoken about momentum being here.
02:11Are you happy that it's an international break now?
02:13What are your plans to do with some of the players that are kept behind?
02:17I'm not happy because I wanted to continue to work with the players,
02:22but for some of them, it's always good to come back in their country,
02:26to play in another context.
02:29But the best way to leave the team on Sunday evening
02:34is to live with good things in heads,
02:36and for that, we need to win in Leeds.
02:38Good luck.
02:39Good luck.
02:43Back to Chris for Sky. Thank you.
02:46Can I just ask about some of the team use?
02:48You've mentioned with Henderson and Mateta
02:50that you hope to get them back after the international break.
02:53Do you have any further updates or diagnosis, especially Dean?
02:57No, no, no.
03:00I think Dean will be more sure
03:03because Mateta is more uncertain.
03:08That's why we have to wait.
03:12I maybe can give you a best answer in two weeks,
03:16but I know you want quick answers.
03:20And I want the same thing as you,
03:24but I'm not able to give you something really realistic
03:27and something really true.
03:30And the most important thing is to take care of them
03:33and to give them the chance to come back as quick as we can.
03:43No, no, he's not in the list.
03:45He's not in the European list.
03:47We have a little problem with that
03:49because we have not too much players trained in the club.
03:53That's why we have a choice to do.
03:56And we have four players out of this list,
03:58but they are able to play.
04:00It was not easy to make the choices, but I have to.
04:06And we can change this list maybe in January if we will be qualified.
04:15But for the moment, they cannot play in Europa League,
04:18but they are able to play in Premier League.
04:20How are you finding leaving players out of them?
04:23Mikel Arteta recently spoke about wanting the Premier League
04:26to have a bigger matchday squad.
04:28I don't know if you agree with that,
04:29or is it just a part and parcel of being a manager
04:32that you have to make these tough decisions?
04:36I just have to agree with Mikel Arteta
04:38because he won the league last year.
04:41He is an example,
04:44but I don't really think about this subject.
04:48Let me time for that too, please.
04:52Ishmad Asar, is he ready to start
04:55and play 90 minutes against Leeds
04:58or will he have to come off the bench again?
05:01To start maybe to play 90 minutes, I don't think.
05:07With this international break coming up,
05:09it is longer than what we've seen before.
05:11Yeah.
05:13I don't suppose you have an opinion on that.
05:15Is that frustrating that it's longer,
05:17are you having to change your plans
05:19from what you would normally have to do in a two-week break?
05:25No, it's the same for everybody.
05:27We knew that for a long time.
05:28We know that we can let the players recover.
05:31And after that, we have time to come back to the pitch
05:34and to come back to our level of performance.
05:37But you know, we have a lot of players in national teams
05:41and the young of the academy are in national teams too.
05:46That's why we have to build the team
05:48to play maybe one friendly game in second weeks
05:52and to prepare our game against Nottingham.
05:57But I don't have to comment on this kind of thing
05:59because it's a general decision.
06:02Will you give your players a break
06:05who won an international duty
06:06or will you be staying with them the whole time
06:09trading for the three weeks?
06:10No, no, we will let them recover a little bit
06:14to be fresh and to come back
06:15because you know how our schedules are really busy,
06:21especially from here to Christmas.
06:26That's why sometimes when you do less, it's more.
06:29And the best way to be in shape is to recover
06:36and to work well after having recovered.
06:56I think it's a different captain than Dean.
07:00Dean, with his performance, he could be captain,
07:05but he's really leader in the dressing room.
07:09Adam is more on him, not on him.
07:16He shares things if you want, but he's shy.
07:20And I think it's a leader on the pitch.
07:24When he plays as he plays this evening,
07:27he could be captain every day.
07:30What will missing the Sassi do for the team?
07:33How much do you think that is going to be a loss for you
07:36to go into the Leeds game and obviously not going forward?
07:39I have to deal with that.
07:40That's why the Cups are good because he stays with the team,
07:44he stays in shape.
07:46But I have to prepare the games against Leeds this evening.
07:50That's why he plays a lot.
07:51And I can let recover other players able to play and to start against Leeds,
07:57but I don't want to give you their names.
08:04It's not that I don't want to.
08:05I don't can.
08:06I cannot.
08:13I hear you.
08:14Just one question about Adam Waterman.
08:16Just being asked about England have got a lot of consensus in the field,
08:21but is he almost unique in the way that he can spot and pass from deep
08:27compared to all the other players that England have?
08:31You know, if this kind of player with this kind of level is not in the national team
08:38of the country, it's a good thing because that's a sign that's a lot of quality.
08:44But I think he can win some ranks in this hierarchy because if he play like he played this evening,
08:55it's really an incredible player.
08:57Just on him, what makes him so special?
09:00You said you've worked with a lot of talents earlier in your career.
09:03Where does he rank?
09:06He's different because he sees the play forward like nobody else, I think.
09:16He's able to play in one touch and to unbalance all the teams.
09:19He always looks for the back of the last line of the opponent.
09:24Now, I think it is better and better to recover the ball too.
09:30And with the time, I hope he can drive more forward and fix the opponent.
09:38I think this is the first gap he has to deal with to continue his improvement.
09:48Any other questions?
09:49Yeah.
09:58You've made a lot of big decisions in terms of dropping some players this season.
10:03You've said sometimes you've got to shake a player to get some reaction.
10:07In terms of that reaction, what does that look like to you and do you think you've got that so
10:12far?
10:14First of all, I want to say it's not a pleasure and it's not normal to do that.
10:19Because I think the players, first of all, want to be on the pitch, want to play all the minutes.
10:28And for that, you have to give your best every day and it's difficult.
10:32And when I did this kind of thing, I just want to show them that the things are not natural,
10:39that the things are not normal.
10:42The minutes is not a duty, you understand?
10:48Yes.
10:49Because I don't understand what I said.
10:55And they have to win that every day.
10:58And if we can create this kind of atmosphere between the players and it will be difficult to be in
11:05the team, you have to win that every day.
11:09I think the session will be more and more intensive and the level of the response that the players have
11:16to give in session will be better and better.
11:18That's why that kind of decision impacts the level of the player, but impacts the level of the sessions and
11:26the improvement of the player and of the team.
11:29How do you know when to put an arm around the player or when to shake them?
11:35Can you repeat, please?
11:36How do you know when it's time to not put your arm around the player and when it's time to
11:41perhaps drop someone to shake our reaction like you said in the past?
11:45That's no rule.
11:46It's my feeling and sometimes my feeling is not the good, but I try to do my best.
11:53It's difficult to say because, you know, there's some criteria in my in my way of qualified performance and the
12:06individual performance.
12:07I think they are different than other coach.
12:10And that's why maybe I see things in a way and you see things in another way and you don't
12:18agree with me.
12:20But I have to be consistent with this kind of thing.
12:24And I have just to to take the good decision and to to be just to be right with the
12:31player,
12:32because like I told you, it's the objective is not to kill them.
12:37The objective is to to push them to give their best every day.
12:42OK, thanks very much, everybody.
12:44Check it out.
