Is Costa Rica's tourism booming or busting? While the latest figures show a dip in arrivals for August, a closer look reveals a different story for the year.

The Costa Rican Tourism Institute (ICT) is analyzing a nearly 6% decrease in tourist arrivals last month, with 171,602 visitors arriving by air. This trend, however, is being attributed to the normal seasonal slowdown during the off-peak tourist season.

Despite the August dip, the year-to-date numbers paint a positive picture. From January to August, Costa Rica welcomed over 2.02 million air tourists, marking a healthy 5.8% growth compared to the same period last year. The ICT remains vigilant, continuously monitoring global factors that could impact future travel decisions.

The institute is optimistic about concluding the year with strong tourism numbers and continues to closely watch international conditions affecting travelers to Costa Rica.
