00:36The International Criminal Court Trial Chamber 3 orders the continued detention of former
00:41Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte at The Hague, Netherlands. In their decision, it says the
00:46chamber therefore finds no notable change in circumstances that warrant the release of the
00:51accused with or without conditions. For these reasons, the chamber hereby decides that the
00:56accused shall continue to be detained. According to the trial chamber, it finds there is a likelihood
01:01that Duterte would abscond, obstruct, or endanger the court proceedings. The court explains in respect
01:07of the latter considerations owing to the prosecution's submission of the witness and evidence
01:12lists. It adds that this increases the accused's ability to interfere with witnesses either directly
01:18or through his family or supporters in the Philippines. The court is also assessing Duterte's
01:22fitness for trial, and while the results of this assessment are still pending, the court says the
01:27panel's reports do not contain any information that warrants a modification of the accused's detention.
01:32In May this year, the chamber said Duterte is still not qualified to avail himself of temporary
01:37liberty, ruling that the former president shall continue to be detained.
01:42The prosecution in Vice President Sara Duterte's impeachment trial will call her brother Davao City
01:48Mayor Sebastian Duterte to the witness stand. The impeachment court on Wednesday, September 16,
01:53granted the prosecution's request to compel the attendance of the younger Duterte on September 23.
02:15The younger Duterte was not initially identified as a witness by the prosecution team in its pre-trial brief,
02:20but it is not prohibited from asking him to testify as among the unnamed reserve witnesses.
