With the new Mission Efficiency, Volkswagen is presenting the world's most efficient near-production electric car. The prototype has set three world records. They stand for exemplary aerodynamics and excellent ideal and real fuel consumption. The vehicle is a beacon of technology and at the same time demonstrates the performance of Volkswagen's production technology.

Record number one: The vehicle achieves a Cd value of 0.158: a new record for road-approved cars. Record number two: consumption of 6.48 kWh/100 km during a so-called “ideal trip”, during which the speed (in this case 68 km/h) remains constant, there are no uphill slopes and peripheral consumers such as the air conditioning system are deactivated. Record number three: Thanks to its aerodynamics and a highly efficient electric drive from the ID. Polo, the Mission Efficiency is also the most economical near-production electric car in its class.

On an officially documented consumption test drive over a distance of 1,278.36 km from Volkswagen’s German Development Centre in Wolfsburg via Poznań (Poland) and Olmütz (Czech Republic) to the Austrian capital Vienna, the Mission Efficiency achieved real consumption of 7.51 kWh/100 km including charging losses (6.89 kWh/100 km without charging losses). The route was completed with an average speed of 67.72 km/h; the top speed was 138 km/h. The 54.9 kWh battery (net) was only charged once during the journey. On arrival in Vienna, it had a remaining range of 164.0 km.

00:10Our mission efficiency is the proof of how efficient an electric electric car can be today.
00:24And we load the limits of how far we can go.
00:33If everything works, will the mission efficiency under real conditions have a new record of transport.
00:40From Wolfsburg to Wien to Vien is a real walk in the bus.
00:45Also so that's the conditions of the land street, motorway, bergauf, bergab.
00:55Our mission efficiency is a big part of today's series, and
01:00that's on the MEB Plus platform of our electric ID.POLO.
01:08Also it's Teile, Module, it's Konzepte, which we already have in Serie.
01:15From ID.POLO have we taken over the Antriebssystem, the Energiesystem,
01:19and the Plattform.
01:36We have everything in the car from Aerodynamics, what is possible for a series of vehicles.
01:41The most important thing is the base of the car. What we have done specifically, was the
01:46part of the vehicle, is also the vehicle, as well as a boat, to the vehicle
01:53as it is possible to get the vehicle.
01:56And what we are so proud about, is the front of the water entry, the variable water entry.
02:05We've tested today the amount of 0,158, which has it not been given, that's a world record.
02:27One of the biggest questions we asked us is how to make aerodynamics visible, how to make
02:37an airspeed, how to make airspeed, how to make airspeed.
03:10The first glance is the coupé-like silhouette, where I see the full length of the vehicle, the very deep
03:18head, the negative cut, the cover of the rear, it's as if it's like a jet on you.
03:27I am going to fly.
03:32We have that interior of the ID.POLO is grundsätzlich being removed.
03:37And overnommen are the components of the Lenkradtasten.
03:44The main principle of Mission Efficiency is to bring your own device.
03:51You can bring devices like a smartphone, tablet and other tablets
03:58and bring in, instead of adding additional displays.
04:03From outside, you can't see the load capacity.
04:08You open the cover and are completely surprised,
04:12because through the length of the load capacity,
04:15there is a lot of load capacity.
04:52It's been a fabulous 7,51.
04:576,89.
04:58Ohne Ladeverluste.
05:00Reine Fahrwerte, Bombenwert.
05:02Klasse.
