00:04really arnold and connor wood officially stepped into the ballroom for the first time during the
00:11season 35 premiere of dancing with the stars and the experience was every bit as intense as they
00:18expected after their debut arnold opened up about what it was really like for what to perform live
00:24for the first time according to really connor was prepared for the rehearsals but he wasn't quite
00:31prepared for the pressure that comes with actually performing on the dot stage the 21 year old
00:38professional dancer explained that the performance aspect of the competition is completely different
00:44from practice even for an experienced dancer she admitted performing live can feel stressful and
00:51unfamiliar and for connor this was a whole new world the 30 year old comedian and podcaster had
00:58spent weeks training with really putting in long hours and learning choreography before the season
01:04began he even admitted that the intense rehearsals had left him sore in places he didn't know could
01:11hurt still nothing could completely prepare him for that first moment under the bright ballroom lights
01:17connor himself described the feeling as difficult to explain he joked that he felt like he might throw
01:23up while also being extremely hungry that nervous energy was understandable after all dancing with the
01:31stars is performed live and contestants only get one chance to deliver their routine when the cameras are
01:39rolling really said there was also an element of uncertainty because they don't rehearse in the actual
01:45ballroom in the same way they perform during the live show so when connor finally walked onto the dance
01:53floor it was almost like stepping into a completely different environment despite those nerves really
01:59made it clear that she was proud of her partner she acknowledged that connor wasn't completely prepared
02:06for the performance side of the experience but she also praised him for handling the pressure and getting
02:13through the routine their cha-cha earned them a score of 16 out of 30 during the premiere and while
02:19the
02:20score was only the beginning the pair still managed to make an impression for connor the premiere was less
02:26about perfection and more about surviving that first major test for really it was another reminder of
02:33just how unpredictable live television can be now with the first performance behind them the real challenge
02:41begins there will be more choreography more rehearsals and of course even more pressure but if connor can
02:49turn those first night nerves into confidence really and her new partner could have plenty of room to grow
