00:07Hi everybody! Hi, I'm Heidi Klum and today we're shooting Project Runway.
00:14Hi Christian Siriano. Hi Heidi Klum. How are you? He doesn't look me in the face. First he
00:21looks me up and down. He's like, what are you wearing? This season was really fast. To be
00:28honest, it's always really fast. I think we did this a total of five weeks. The
00:33designers every year also get confused when we say, okay you have one day
00:37challenge. They always think this is TV time and actually means four days. No, it
00:40actually only meant that one day. Are you serious? That's why we can film a whole
00:45season so fast. It also puts the designers under a lot of pressure because you know
00:50they have to make a fabulous outfit in one day. Most designers with a big team, they
00:55spend weeks and months on something like that. You know, it really showcases how
01:00very talented they all are.
01:07How's it going?
01:10This is Fritz.
01:12Actually, when we were shooting Project Runway in a neighbor's studio, there was an
01:16adoption place right next to where we were filming and obviously I had to look
01:20inside and check out all the puppies and I walked home with a puppy.
01:24Happy finale day. Good morning.
01:28How's it going?
01:29Well, I was not really supposed to wear this today. You know, I have a stylist in Los Angeles.
01:34I live in Los Angeles. So when I do a show like this, I go in for a day and
01:39there's racks
01:40and racks and racks and racks of clothes. Basically, I try on all the clothes and pick all the different
01:45outfits that I pick for the entire season. And usually I pick things, you know, that are interesting,
01:50obviously, in terms of shape, color, designer. And so I had a beautiful blue hobart dress and
01:57Christian came in and he said, you have to wear one of my dresses. And because he's a little baby
02:02and he would cry all day, I was like, okay, fine. I wear one of yours and here it is.
02:06But I wasn't
02:06prepared. So I didn't have the right jewelry for it. I didn't know my underwear would be on display all
02:11day. But here we are. Every time we're together, we have a kiki and then I'm like, oh, try on
02:15my
02:15dresses and hurry up.
02:19When we started Project Runway, people were kind of surprised why anyone would want to watch designers
02:25who are sewing and creating and making clothes. 22 seasons later, people are still interested to see, you
02:31know, how these incredible people can make beautiful clothes. So I think that's why, you know, people
02:37love it so much. And for me, I think it is important to shine a light on people who are
02:42not seen and
02:43deserve to be seen because they're super talented. So really, Project Runway is a platform for them to
02:49be seen by so many people. Their art can be seen by so many people and hopefully bought by so
02:54many
02:54people one day with Freeform, Hulu, Disney+, you know, thousands of people around the world can see
03:01them. It's amazing to be on so many streaming platforms. So it really elevates the show, but
03:07also, you know, showcases their work to so many more people out there. Fashion is art, you know,
03:12it is something how we express ourselves. If I look at you or you and me, we're already so different.
03:17Everyone has like a different taste and a different way they want to express themselves. Some are
03:22butterflies, they're very colorful, others a little bit more subdued, you know, everyone has a little bit
03:28of their style. So I think it's so important for us as humans to show on the outside kind of
03:33also how we feel on the inside a little bit, you know, clothes are very important because we can
03:38really play, we can play different characters and be different people. I do many different TV shows, I do
03:44many different red carpets. So I have opportunities to wear so many different beautiful outfits. I don't
03:50like to play very safe silhouettes because I am in fashion. And because I have so many eyeballs on me,
03:55I like to
03:55show the people who are not in fashion what is out there because I have the opportunity because I feel
04:00like
04:00there's someone somewhere in the middle of nowhere and I can inspire them with something that they maybe haven't
04:06seen yet. So I feel like it's my duty as a model or someone also who's on television to turn
04:11up the volume a little
04:11bit more on what I wear, how I do my hair and makeup. I feel like it's my job a
04:16little bit. Obviously, Christian is my
04:19Project Runway baby. He was the winner of season four of Project Runway and we've become friends
04:23since then. He's dressed me many times for many red carpet events, for the Emmys, but also for
04:29smaller events or for photo shoots. I've done his whole entire lookbook I've done one day, like it was
04:34so much fun. We were playing around and he is really one of the most creative people. Already when we
04:39found
04:39him, you know, in season four, he was immediately a star in the making. And he is, he dresses everybody,
04:46from Michelle Obama to Oprah to Ariana Grande. I mean, you name it, he dresses everybody. So I'm so
04:55excited for him because he's super successful, but he also works so very hard. And speaking of working
05:00very hard, so does law. He has so many clients. He's everywhere. He dresses the biggest celebrities
05:06and he has a great eye and it's fun to work with people who are in the industry for so
05:11long and really
05:11know what they're doing. We have commodity, but also we do fight a lot because we do have all
05:16different point of views and everyone has their favorite. So sometimes we do get the boxing gloves
05:21out and, you know, we want to fight for who we believe in that should win, for example, if it
05:26is
05:27just a challenge or even, you know, at the finale, at the end. So this season, season 22, we're bringing
05:33back 22 designers. We have never had a beginning with so many designers. We're also bringing someone back
05:38from the past, from last season, from season 21, which I think is like a big wow. It was a
05:46big wow
05:46also for the judges because obviously we didn't tell anyone. And I mean, I knew, but Nina didn't know
05:53and Law didn't know. And all of a sudden there was like, wait a minute. I was like, yes, it
05:58was fun. Each
05:59season is special because people come from many different walks of life and backgrounds and ideas. And so
06:06it's interesting again with this new designer group, what they bring to the table. Thank you
06:11for following me on Saturday in Steyr. Until next time. Auf Wiedersehen.
