00:00My work has focused on psychology, and I look at the psychology of eating animals, but the same psychology that,
00:07you know, drives people or enables people to harm animals is the psychology that enables us to harm other humans,
00:13the environment, and carry out violence against ourselves, even though most people aren't aware of this, you know, and I
00:21100% agree that on the deepest level, the change, the deepest change needs to be spiritual.
00:29And spiritual in the way that you define spirituality, like a genuine commitment to understanding the truth of who we
00:36are and who we are not, right?
00:38That's where the core change needs to happen.
00:41I wonder what you think about the role of psychology in facilitating that process.
00:47You see, psychology is the ego-studying, the ego-infested mind.
00:57When we say we are studying the psyche or the mind, it is actually the ego-infested mind that is
01:07being studied.
01:09Because the mind, in a pure state, is not allowed to exist by the ego.
01:17The ego is the violent distorter, the violent colonizer.
01:24Just as for the ego, everything is an object to be appropriated and consumed for the sake of its own
01:33preservation, egoic self-defense.
01:38Similarly, the ego infests and distorts the mind as well.
01:45Now, studying this mind, the distorted mind, is the field of psychology.
01:52So, psychology is wonderful.
01:54One wants to see how the mind moves in grooves, follows patterns, and what kind of mechanisms does it employ.
02:04It's all nice.
02:06But if it's the ego studying, the egoic mind, the intention will never be of liberation.
02:13So, I'm tongue tests, and what kind of theory is that you are doing?
