00:00Joining us now is Roblox CEO Dave Bazzucchi.
00:03It was just a packed weekend and a really critical moment for you with the Developers Conference.
00:08I would be really grateful to start with the AI tools part.
00:12You know, your platform is unique in that sense.
00:14What was it that you announced and what is it you want to empower creators to do with that technology?
00:20Hey, great to be here.
00:21We had all of our developers around the world together and we shared that creators on Roblox
00:26in the last year earned $1.7 billion in the last 12 months.
00:32We announced Roblox Build at the Creator Conference and it's really the ultimate fulfillment of our destiny.
00:40Even 20 years ago when we said you make the game, we believe we're finally to the point where in
00:46our mobile app,
00:47anyone's going to be able to make a 2D game, a 3D game, an obby, a puzzle game, whatever they're
00:53interested in.
00:54We're testing this in New Zealand right now.
00:58We also introduced a wide range of other creation tools.
01:01We actually have people who have vibe-coded a game now in our mobile app and are earning revenue of
01:07it in our marketplace.
01:09Dave, as you and I are speaking, you know, we come off a weekend where the Frontier Labs,
01:13very specific context of the Frontier Labs, saying that they should pace development at the Frontier.
01:20Very different to what Roblox is doing, but could you just talk about your confidence to bring AI into the
01:26creation of games on the platform in that environment
01:29when Americans are worried about the safety of AI?
01:33Yeah, a couple things.
01:35We believe on the Roblox platform and, you know, arguably we're discussing this worldwide.
01:41We're going to see more creators, not fewer.
01:44More people making games, not fewer.
01:47And just as we've gone from analog to digital and that opened up a wide range of creation,
01:52going from digital to AI accelerated is going to add even more creation to our platform.
01:58So we're very optimistic.
02:00What we've seen in the coding space with harnesses, iterative loops, building apps and services and websites with AI acceleration,
02:09we're doing the same for gaming.
02:12It's much more complicated.
02:14These harnesses for gaming involve 3D generation, scene generation, avatar generation, code generation, all working together.
02:22So we also announced Build in Studio that helps accelerate AI creation as well for our creators.
02:30Big piece of news was creators having the option to make their games available as standalone apps and standalone apps
02:39across mobile, PC and consoles.
02:42That's a very interesting decision, right?
02:45If you think about the context of Roblox's platform, why, Dave?
02:49Why do that?
02:50A lot of people continue to think about the Apple Store and think about Google Store.
02:56Was that a part of it?
02:58Well, we've been saying the world needs more play as part of the theme for this.
03:03And we've also, since we've got started, had the vision that whatever a creator builds, runs on any device.
03:10So phone, tablet, console, laptop, auto-translates into any language.
03:16And we shared at the conference, India and Japan are both growing enormously quickly.
03:22This is really the ultimate extension of that.
03:24When a creator makes a game or an experience on Roblox, we can see that running in the Roblox app.
03:30We can see the exact same experience being available, for example, in the iOS app store, on a console store.
03:38We can see the same build running in both places.
03:40And we can see essentially removing all barriers for creators to imagine running on Roblox.
03:47So this was a significant announcement in our vision, really, to get beyond 10% of the global gaming space
03:54running on Roblox.
03:56Hey, Dave, really quick.
03:57How does Roblox ride the Grand Theft Auto 6 wave when that hits in November?
04:04We're seeing amazing content coming out on Roblox.
04:07And as I shared, our 18 and up segment around the world is growing more quickly than, like, is growing
04:13very, very quickly.
04:14So we shared at our creator conference a lot of the creators that are now starting to focus on 2D
04:21puzzle games, 3D immersive RPGs, and that class of game.
04:26So we're going to see more and more content, not just for younger players, but older players on the platform,
04:31too.
