Did a single photo of quarterbacks on the sideline break Falcons fandom?

Randy McMichael was visibly upset as a caller brought up the growing displeasure fans have with Michael Penix Jr. and Tua Tagovailoa sitting on the sifeline not looking involved.

The Midday Show breaks down why fan frustration is boiling over, and why everyone needs to calm down.

00:00If somebody could tell me what, so a tour of Tiger Valor and Penix is over there relaxing,
00:05it can be somber, but I wouldn't be able to smile and grin if I see my team out there
00:10working that hard.
00:11Why would they not have a headset on?
00:13They have an earpiece in their ear where they're getting the play call.
00:18Okay, I apologize.
00:19Okay.
00:19I'll say once they go Falcons, I got their back, and I know they're going to be all right.
00:23Thank you, Tony.
00:24Thank you, Tony.
00:25Yeah, they did have their little, they got their ear in there.
00:27Now, the still shot of the two of them that's circulating, they don't have them in because
00:32the Falcons don't have the football, the defenses, and they're not going to get it.
00:36Is that where we are right now?
00:38No, not we.
00:39That's where some people are right now?
00:41Yeah.
00:41I mean, the depths of Falcons fandom, yeah, that's where it is, which, you know, you kind
00:48of get it.
00:49I said earlier, I got it.
00:51I get it.
00:52All right.
00:52It's Monday, and I'm in a good freaking Monday mood, too, bro.
00:55This is a really fun weekend.
00:56How much of, like, I don't know, nothing, nope.
01:00Not even going to answer, Abe, because I know where you're about to go.
01:02I just want to.
01:02No, you don't.
01:03Yeah, I do.
01:04I just, all right, come on.
01:05The sour reaction, like, it would be easier to take if it were 34-10, right?
01:10What?
01:11The game.
01:12What are you talking about?
01:13I think there's so much frustration that it was winnable.
01:16Oh.
01:16And Cooper Rush was so bad.
01:18Well, I mean, look, I mean, I think that there's layers upon layers upon layers of
01:23what's frustrating, and I think...
01:25If you're telling me about earpieces and smiles, that's...
01:29But I think a big part of that, though, is, like, you can't really get mad at Cooper Rush
01:34because he's Cooper Rush.
01:35Yeah, but...
01:36Like, he wasn't even supposed to play.
01:37But why...
01:40The fact that they lost the game the way they lost, and you're talking about a guy on the
01:45sideline smiling that had no outcome on the game is...
01:50That's troubling to me.
01:51Like, that's all you can think about.
01:53Right.
01:53Not the fact that he stunk, the offensive line got their ass whipped, none of that.
01:57Him on the sideline smiling?
01:59Like, come on, man.
02:00Yeah, no, good.
02:01But that's it.
02:01That's what the Falcons...
02:03That's what they've done.
02:04That's what they've done.
02:05That's what, again...
02:05That's what they've done.
02:06Because it's not just...
02:07None of it exists on its own.
02:09It's not Tua and Penix on the sideline in a still shot in a loss while...
02:14It's, you know, it's the eight years or...
02:16To be honest, it's the 28-3.
02:18It's the...
02:18People have been fans since the 70s.
02:20But that's what I'm saying.
02:21But get mad about the performance on the field.
02:23Of course.
02:23The dudes that ain't...
02:24They are.
02:24The dudes don't...
02:25They're not about...
02:26We're getting the hang-up from two dudes that have no impact on this game winning and losing.
02:31That's right.
02:32The other thing about it that I would say, too, is...
02:35Like, of course, they're hearing the play calls.
02:37This is one still shot from one moment in the game when the Falcons didn't have the football.
02:41I'm sure at other times during the game they were over there talking in a group amongst the quarterbacks.
02:47But the Falcons have a head coach who has the job because he was an offensive coordinator.
02:51They have an offensive coordinator who calls the plays.
02:54And a quarterback coach.
02:55And a quarterback coach who's called plays.
02:56And they've got, like, layers upon layers of guys in the offensive staff that have called plays at an NFL
03:02level before.
03:03And, like we said Friday, when we found out that Cooper Rush was going to be the quarterback.
03:08The Falcons could have had Bill Walsh and Pop Warner and whoever.
03:14Put whoever the hell you want from a play-calling perspective on the sideline.
03:18Cooper Rush played yesterday with a bad back.
03:20It was going to look like that.
03:21And even if he didn't have a bad back, it probably was going to look like that.
03:24I keep saying bad back because I have to imagine bad back had something to do with it.
03:28That couldn't have been a healthy Cooper Rush.
03:30Yeah.
03:31Because otherwise, yeah.
03:32So, yeah.
03:33But, of course.
03:33But at the same time, every single thing that involved with the franchise right now makes people mad because of
03:40all of that.
03:41It's a – no.
03:42The logo sucks.
03:44Got it.
03:45No, no.
03:45I'm 100% with you.
03:46And I'm 100% – and I understand that.
03:48I just don't understand why that's a thought right now.
03:51But here's the funny thing.
03:52Had they – say the pick six doesn't happen and Nick Folk makes three out of four field goals and
03:55we're talking about a win right now.
03:56Yes.
03:57No one's talking about anything.
03:58Yeah, because they probably would have had the same expression.
04:00They would have had the exact same expression.
04:02The same thing would have happened because, well, I guess they were down 20-13, so all that already happened.
04:06But, yeah, I mean, that's –
