'Woman Unknown' di May el‑Toukhy ha vinto il Leone d’oro della 83esima Mostra del Cinema di Venezia portando in questa edizione uno sguardo sul corpo femminile come terreno di conflitto. La regista ha voluto dedicare il premio alla figlia adolescente: “Metti via quel maledetto telefono, alza lo sguardo. Usa la tua voce per opporti a ogni forma di disumanizzazione. Usa la tua voce per dare parola a chi è stato abbandonato e ridotto al silenzio”.

01:05This film has been incredibly challenging to make, financially, logistically, emotionally.

01:13And what kept me going was the urgent need to illuminate the unknown women of our common history, to make

01:22And especially tonight, I feel like I succeeded in doing just that.

01:30Lastly, I would like to dedicate this award to my teenage daughter.
