Israel said it demolished key Hezbollah tunnels beneath the Ali al-Taher ridge in southern Lebanon. The USGS recorded a 4.1 magnitude tremor from the blast. Prime Minister Netanyahu and Defence Minister Israel Katz described the site as strategic terrorist infrastructure built over two decades with Iranian funding and planning.
According to the Israeli army, the infrastructure extended more than two kilometres and held dozens of Iranian made rockets, missiles, UAVs, machine guns, and anti tank missiles, along with hundreds of mines and explosive devices. The underground compound also included a command centre of Hezbollah's Badr unit, with weapon storage rooms and living quarters.
PJ Media reported that the complex sat 15 km north of the Israeli border inside Israel's Security Zone. It said the IDF described the operation as neutralizing Hezbollah's ability to plan and carry out attacks against Israeli civilians and soldiers.
According to Visegrad 24, 1,100 tons of explosives were used. The operation began in early August and involved encirclement, ground clearing, and airstrikes. Visegrad 24 reported that more than 100 Hezbollah fighters and IRGC advisors were trapped in the tunnels, and that an attempt to resupply them with drones failed.
Israel announced it had captured the Ali al-Taher ridge. A military official said some militants abandoned the area while others were eliminated by aerial strikes and artillery fire.
