00:13The Department of Foreign Affairs says, quote,
00:16We call on China to cease its illegal occupation and activities in Panganiban Reef and Zamora Reef immediately,
00:22and to abide by the final and binding 2016 arbitral award.
00:26All these features are part of the West Philippine Sea, a body of water that includes the Philippines' Exclusive Economic
00:32Zone, or EEZ, in the South China Sea.
00:35Chinese Embassy and Manila Deputy Spokesperson Guo Wei in a statement says that China had jurisdiction over the two reefs.
00:41China considers Panganiban and Zamora part of the Nansha Islands, which it claims as its territory.
00:47The DFA says China's island building on both features violates the Philippine Maritime Zones Act or Republic Act 12064 and
00:54UNCLOS.
00:55China claims almost all of the South China Sea, including the West Philippine Sea, as its territory.
