00:01A driver who mounted a Birmingham pavement and killed a pensioner has been jailed for
00:06four years and six months. Shanice Hussain was driving an Audi on Great Hampton Street
00:10when she lost control and struck two pedestrians in July 2024. Morris Middleton, who was 68,
00:18died at the scene while another person suffered minor injuries. Police say Hussain had been
00:23travelling at 48 miles an hour in a 30 zone before swerving around another vehicle and
00:28crossing onto the wrong side of the road. The 27-year-old was convicted of causing death
00:34by dangerous driving and is now banned for eight years and three months following the
00:39fatal crash in the city centre.
