00:15Why do you believe that?
00:16With Christopher, the director,
00:19I felt that he was operating on a level
00:21that nothing needed to be added, taken away or altered.
00:24I think it helps that he's an editor.
00:26So he was in the editing room and he was cutting it all together.
00:28So the rhythm, the sort of hopscotching between scenes
00:32that coalesced was in my view brand new
00:35and I use the word masterpiece
00:36because I've never seen anything else like it.
00:39And for me, it was no acting please,
00:41especially that scene in front of the computer
00:45where he's giving his apology message.
00:48That to me was no acting please.
00:50It was like, okay, I have had this life experience
00:54where I might have been the first actor that that happened to
00:57where I woke up one morning and watched Nicolas Cage lose
00:59this as you know what and it was going viral
01:01and it was it was growing exponentially
01:03and compounding on himself
01:04and then the t-shirts started
01:06and then the photoshopping and the weird images
01:08and I was like, what is that?
01:10I this isn't why I signed up to become a film actor.
01:13I was like, where am I going to put all this?
01:15What do I do with this experience?
01:17And I felt that this movie gave me a chance
01:20to express those feelings authentically.
01:23so I felt that with this movie.
01:25I felt it with Pig and I'm hopeful that there will be more
01:28to come because right now my my main interest is to do
01:32movies where I can be as personal as I can
01:34so I have that connection with my audience
01:37and that there's a there's an exchange there.
01:40Your life experience might find some resemblance
01:44to Paul Matthews life experience of what I'm informing it with.
01:47I wanted to get as authentic as possible.

01:59How did your approach to dream scenario
02:01differ from your past nouveau shamanic style?
02:05Well, nouveau shamanism like if you want to go back there
02:07was just my response to a book that Brian Bates wrote
02:11where he put forth the idea that all actors whether they know
02:13it are kind of like modern-day shamans
02:15and that the old medicine would try to go into flights of the imagination
02:20to come up with answers that help the village.
02:22Well, it's the same thing as a movie.
02:24I mean today if you look at leaving Las Vegas you see a story
02:28that might be relevant to someone else's struggles with alcohol
02:33and that's an answer.
02:34Maybe they get an answer from that.
02:36It's not some overly intellectual or self-aggrandizing comment.
02:44it's more of like let's look at the real process of what that means.
02:48Film performance is one of the ways people can get some relief
02:51from whatever they're going through in their own lives.
