00:30Across the plains of Texas, from sea to shining sea
00:35From Detroit down to Houston, and New York to L.A.
00:43Where there's pride in every American heart
00:46And it's time we stand and say
00:52That I'm about to be an American
00:56Where at least I know I'm free
00:59And I won't forget the men who died
01:03Who gave that right to me
01:05And I gladly stand up next to you
01:09And defend her still today
01:12Cause there ain't no doubt I love this land
01:17God bless the USA
01:26And I'm proud to be an American
01:29Where at least I know I'm free
01:33And I won't forget the men who died
01:37Who gave that right to me
01:39And I gladly stand up next to you
01:44And defend her still today
01:47Cause there ain't no doubt I love this land
01:52God bless the U.S.
02:02Thank you
02:03Thank you. Wow.
02:06This is a very nice place, Charlotte.
02:08Good job.
02:09What a good job.
02:11Your parents are so proud of you.
02:13They're beaming.
02:15I don't know if they're beaming about me
02:16But they're beaming about you
02:18I could see it
02:19But I'm thrilled to be here
02:21At the National Medal of Honor Museum
02:24It's got a great reputation already
02:26All over the world
02:27But it's very special for all of us
02:31But it's very special for me
02:33To be here
02:33And it's an American treasure
02:35Devoted to the best and bravest warriors
02:37Of our country
02:38And frankly, it's really the best
02:41They've ever produced
02:44The 3,536 recipients
02:49Of the Congressional Medal of Honor
02:52And as you probably heard
02:53We have a few more coming your way
02:55Very brave people
02:58Since opening last year
03:00This museum has already welcomed
03:02Over 100,000 visitors
03:03I want to thank the chair
03:06Of the National Medal of Honor Museum
03:10Foundation
03:10And she's a respected woman
03:13All over
03:13She's got great genetics
03:15I have to tell you
03:15Great genetics
03:16She's got great blood
03:17I'm a big blood person
03:19I believe in blood
03:20And you don't get better than those two
03:23You don't get better than those two, Charlotte
03:25So I just want to thank you
03:27For the great job you've done
03:28And I want to thank Jerry
03:30He's been a friend of mine
03:30For a long time
03:31I refuse to say
03:32How long
03:33Because you're going to say
03:33We're old people
03:34I don't want to do that
03:35We want to be young
03:36And I want to thank Jean
03:39She's a phenomenal woman
03:41Respected all over the planet
03:43Frankly
03:44Thank you very much, Jean
03:45It's a great honor
03:46To be with you
03:47And your family
03:47And the board of directors
03:49Thank you
03:53And thanks as well
03:54To Speaker Mike Johnson
03:56Is there any someplace?
03:57Where is ours?
03:57Oh, I love my speaker
04:00He gets more approved
04:02With a majority of two
04:04Than any man
04:05And it's really a majority of one
04:07Because one always votes
04:08There's something wrong with him
04:09He's cuckoo
04:10He always votes against us
04:12It doesn't matter
04:12It could be voter ID
04:14He'll vote against
04:15So we have really a majority of one
04:17Maybe two
04:18But he's a fantastic guy
04:20Mike
04:20And he's a friend of mine
04:22Mike Johnson
04:23And Senator Jim Justice
04:24He's been my friend
04:25Long before he ran for office
04:27Where's Big Jim?
04:28He's the biggest senator
04:30In the history of the Senate
04:32He could play for the Cowboys
04:34Right now
04:34Offensive line only
04:36I think offensive line
04:38But he's been my friend
04:39For a long time
04:41And another friend of mine
04:42A guy who
04:44I was really friendly with
04:45And then we got into a scuffle
04:46Because we were running
04:47Against each other
04:48And we got along so long
04:50I mean, the press was asking
04:52Will you two guys ever fight?
04:55I said, don't worry
04:55It'll happen
04:57But right now we get along
04:58And remember that, Ted?
04:59We got along so well
05:00Long into the campaign
05:01He was tough
05:03And then we started fighting
05:04We fought like hell
05:06Took about two years to recuperate
05:09And he's been my very dear friend
05:11And he's been with me on everything
05:13And I'm with him on everything
05:14And we ran together
05:16And we had the greatest victories
05:19The greatest victories
05:20And we have to do that again
05:22For Ken
05:23We said last night
05:25I said, Ken, I don't want to embarrass you
05:28But I don't agree with a lot of things
05:29But you're the greatest attorney general
05:32We've ever had
05:33And that alone should carry him
05:36I said, I'm not sure if I like your look
05:38I'm not sure if I like the way you dress
05:40I don't like the way you talk
05:42But you're the greatest attorney general
05:44So therefore
05:45That's the only thing that matters, Jerry, right?
05:48He's the best attorney general in the country
05:50And we have the wall because of him
05:53We have so much because of him
05:54We have the best numbers
05:56In terms of what happened
05:58And illegal immigrants pouring into your country
06:01And your state
06:02And he's done such a great job
06:04So I think it's going to work out very well
06:06We had a great night last night
06:08After we're finished here
06:09We're going back over to the arena
06:12And the interim
06:14They've never done it
06:15We had the midterm convention
06:19They've never had it
06:20Nobody knew what the hell I was talking about
06:21I said, you know, everyone talks about the midterms
06:23But we never have a convention
06:25Why don't we try having a convention?
06:27We immediately picked this
06:28I would have used the stadium
06:29But I was a little bit concerned about filling that one up
06:32The one last night, we packed it
06:34That was packed
06:35And we'll be back a lot
06:37It's a special place
06:39Dallas is special
06:40Texas is special
06:41So I want to thank Ted Cruz
06:43And I want to thank representatives
06:45Blake Moore
06:46John McGuire
06:47Mike Kennedy
06:48Warren Davidson
06:49All great people
06:50Bruce Westerman
06:52And Roger Williams
06:53Very brave guy Roger is
06:56They came at him pretty strong
06:58Right, Roger?
06:59And you looked him in the eye
07:01But pretty tough cookie
07:03And a good guy
07:04Been my friend for a long time
07:05We're also
07:07Pleased to be joined by
07:08The Mayor of Arlington, Texas
07:10Jim Ross
07:11Thank you, Jim
07:14You're doing a good job
07:17And Texas State Senator Phil King
07:21And the Council General
07:22Of a place called Qatar
07:24It's a little under siege right now
07:26But you're going to be just fine
07:27Don't worry about it
07:28You're going to be perfect
07:30And of course
07:31We're privileged to have
07:32With us 15 of the 65 living recipients
07:36Of the Congressional Medal of Honor
07:38You know, I've never said this
07:40I told Jerry a long time ago
07:41The thing I really want is
07:43I want for myself
07:44A Congressional Medal of Honor
07:45And I've studied it
07:46And I will give it to myself
07:48I have no problem
07:49But I'm not allowed to
07:50Can you believe it?
07:51The one thing I'm not allowed to do
07:52I would give myself
07:53So I would make it
07:54Instead of 15
07:55We'd have 16
07:57But I'm not allowed to do that
07:59Now, you know
08:00The sad part about saying that
08:01To all of that
08:02Look at all that fake news back there
08:04But the sad part
08:06Is that
08:06They'll now go
08:07And they'll say
08:08Donald Trump
08:09Wanted the Congressional Medal of Honor
08:12They don't say that I kid
08:14One thing in
08:16The world of politics
08:17You can't be sarcastic
08:18You can't have any fun
08:20You can't do anything
08:21That you think is cute
08:23Because it was
08:24So tonight
08:25The story will be
08:25That Donald Trump
08:26Wants the Congressional Medal of Honor
08:28For himself
08:30I'm only kidding
08:31Actually, I'm not kidding
08:34I would like to
08:36I can think of no other thing
08:38We have the civilian version
08:40Which is the Presidential Medal of Freedom
08:43And that's
08:45I don't know
08:46It's a very, very powerful thing
08:48But when I see the
08:50Recipients of the Congressional Medal
08:52Those that are living
08:53Many are dead
08:54They died
08:55And
08:57They died in battle
08:58Some of the battles
09:00I read
09:02Inscriptions of what took place
09:04The level of bravery
09:05Is incredible
09:07The nice part about the
09:10Presidential Medal of Honor
09:11Is the people are in good health
09:13In other words
09:13They get it because
09:14They wanted sports
09:15Or they wanted something
09:17But they don't have to get shot
09:19And they don't have to go through
09:20The trauma that you people
09:22Have gone through
09:22Because what you've gone through
09:23Is incredible
09:24The bravery
09:26Inspires us all
09:27This year we're celebrating
09:29The 250th anniversary
09:31Of our nation's founding
09:32And
09:33It's only because of
09:35Courageous patriots
09:36Like
09:36Those honored
09:37At this museum
09:38It's incredible
09:39I have to say
09:41Charlotte is
09:42Too modest
09:43This was
09:44Rated
09:45I read it
09:46In a magazine
09:47Two weeks ago
09:47When I heard I was coming
09:48They say it's the best
09:50I think the best new
09:51Most beautiful new museum
09:52Built in this country
09:54In many, many years
09:55That's a big statement
09:57But
09:59And that's
10:00That's a tribute to
10:01You and your group
10:02And your directors
10:05And your architect
10:06Who's excellent
10:07By the way
10:07I know him
10:08Very well from
10:09New York
10:09He did some of the great
10:10He did some great buildings
10:11But america has endured
10:14The two and a half
10:15Centuries
10:16And we've done it well
10:17And i will just say
10:18Speaking
10:19Bringing it right up
10:20To the present
10:21Our country is right now
10:22Very strong
10:22We have over
10:242.1 trillion dollars
10:26Being invested
10:27In our country
10:28Nobody
10:29No country
10:29Ever
10:30Ever
10:31No matter where
10:32No matter what country
10:33Has ever even come
10:35Close to that
10:35We have
10:3621 trillion
10:37Close to 21 trillion dollars
10:41And it's coming in
10:43At levels that
10:44Nobody's ever seen before
10:46That number will be
10:46Changing next month
10:48And we could even
10:50Hit 24, 25
10:52Trillion dollars
10:53That's even a lot
10:53Of money for jerry
10:54Right jerry
10:55That's a lot of money
10:56That's a lot of football
10:57Players
10:59But and that's
11:00What's happening
11:01Is you know
11:02We went years
11:02Without building
11:03A car plant
11:04In the united states
11:05Now we're building
11:06Many many car plants
11:07Toyota
11:08Just announced
11:09They're leaving
11:09Mexico
11:13We have
11:14Many of the others
11:15General motors
11:16Just announced
11:17A massive plant
11:18Ford
11:18The same thing
11:19It's actually
11:21Amazing
11:21What's
11:22What's happening
11:23Honda's coming in
11:25They're all coming in
11:26And I say
11:28They're coming in
11:29Because of
11:29What used to
11:30I used to say
11:31It's my favorite word
11:32But I don't say that
11:33Anyway
11:33You've heard that story
11:35Because the press
11:35Just kills me
11:36I said
11:36My favorite word
11:37Is tariff
11:39And they said
11:39What about your wife
11:40What about your family
11:41What about God
11:42What about religion
11:45He's a terrible human being
11:46When tariff is his favorite
11:47So I made it
11:48My fifth favorite word
11:49And now I'm okay
11:51But the numbers
11:52That we're taking in
11:53Are incredible
11:55Because when you come in
11:57And you build your plant
11:58In the United States
12:00Including in Arlington
12:01And Texas
12:02And anywhere you want
12:04In the United States
12:05There is no tariff
12:07So rather than paying
12:0825, 50, 100
12:10Sometimes they go crazy
12:11You go 250
12:13Rather than doing that
12:14Or rather than saying
12:15We don't want to trade with you
12:16Because your country's
12:17Taking advantage of us
12:19Like we have a country
12:20A little bit to the north
12:21Which has been taking advantage
12:22Of us for many years
12:24But rather than doing that
12:26We just
12:28We do something
12:29And it just worked out
12:31So well
12:31The numbers are
12:34Nobody's ever seen it
12:35Like
12:35Now just so you understand
12:36Other countries have done
12:37This to us for years
12:38And that's why
12:39They were successful
12:40But we've never had
12:42A period of time
12:43Where we have
12:43This kind of investment
12:44This kind of
12:45Building
12:46And the building projects
12:47Hundreds and hundreds
12:48Of factories and plants
12:49Are being built
12:50And other things
12:51Are being built
12:51All over the country
12:53And very shortly
12:54Though exciting for me
12:55I'll sign into law
12:57The Herschel Woody Williams
12:59National Medal
13:00Of Honor Monument
13:02Location Act
13:03It's a long name
13:04But
13:04That's a very long name
13:07But it's an important name
13:09Authorizing the
13:10National Medal of Honor
13:12Museum Foundation
13:13To establish a brand new
13:14Monument in Washington D.C.
13:17Which is now
13:18One of the safest cities
13:19By the way
13:19Our capital two years ago
13:20Was one of the most
13:21Unsafe cities
13:22In the country
13:24Now it's one of the
13:25Safest cities in the country
13:26It's the way it should be
13:27Our national guard
13:28Was unbelievable
13:30We don't play games anymore
13:33And we've cleaned it
13:34It's spotless
13:35We got rid of all the graffiti
13:37Over monuments
13:38That have been touched
13:39In 40, 50, 60 years
13:43Monuments, fountains
13:46Everything
13:46We have
13:47It's amazing
13:48We did 82 of them
13:49Jerry
13:49We took care of 82 of them
13:51I showed you the bridge
13:52The Arlington Memorial Bridge
13:55Your daughter wanted to have
13:56That bridge for herself
13:57So she could do
13:58So I said
13:58I'm sorry
13:59I think this one's taken
14:00That's why I'm glad
14:01We had the little
14:03But we're going to find you
14:04An even better location
14:06Okay
14:07But
14:08We had 82 monuments
14:10And statues
14:12And fountains
14:13That we've made
14:15I mean
14:15Taken them
14:17From
14:18Horrible
14:20Looking
14:21In all cases
14:22Horrible red graffiti
14:24Red and green
14:24They like red and green
14:26And some of it
14:27Seeps into this
14:28Beautiful limestone
14:29And marble
14:30And you think
14:31That was easy
14:31Getting it out
14:32It wasn't
14:33But we
14:33Those
14:34Some of those things
14:35Are looking so beautiful
14:36More beautiful
14:37Than when they were built
14:38Many years ago
14:40And in terms of crime
14:42The crime rate's way down
14:43It's down to a level
14:44That's one of the
14:45Safer cities
14:46But we
14:47We removed
14:48Over 5,000
14:51Criminals
14:52Many of them
14:53Came through
14:53The open border policy
14:54Of sleepy Joe Biden
14:57At open border
14:58For the world to come in
14:59Let everybody
15:00Come into our country
15:01They emptied
15:02Their jails
15:03They emptied
15:04All of their
15:04Mental institutions
15:06Into our country
15:07And you know
15:08Texas was
15:09Right at the
15:11Forefront of this
15:12Disaster
15:13But they had a
15:14Person interviewed
15:15The other day
15:16On a television
15:17One of the
15:17Network news programs
15:19And
15:20The person said
15:22We lived in hell
15:24Two years ago
15:25They were on the border
15:27And
15:27This person
15:28A beautiful
15:30Man and wife
15:32Sort of
15:33Like 40 years old
15:34And they were
15:34Living in hell
15:35And he said
15:36When president trump
15:37Got elected
15:37It all changed
15:39It's like we live
15:40In a different place
15:40Now
15:41We were being
15:42Accosted
15:43We were being
15:44Run over by
15:45People pouring
15:46Poring across
15:47Dangerous people
15:48Too in many cases
15:49Poring across
15:50The border
15:50And now
15:50We haven't seen
15:52Anybody in
15:54A year and a half
15:55It's been pretty
15:56Amazing ted
15:57What we've done
15:58On the border
15:58And it's my honor
16:00And it brought you
16:01Your state back
16:02But all that can
16:02Disappear very quickly
16:04You put a talafrico
16:05In or you put
16:06Any one of these
16:07People in
16:08These people
16:09That don't know
16:10What the hell
16:10They're doing
16:12And even if they do
16:13You know
16:14Some are very smart
16:14They're radical left
16:15They have crazy policies
16:17Some are not smart
16:18At all
16:19But he would be a disaster
16:21For this country
16:23So we are dedicating
16:25All of the receipts
16:27Of our
16:29All of the money
16:30That we're taking
16:31There's a lot of
16:32Additional money
16:32And money
16:33Even today
16:34I got so many calls
16:35Of people that heard
16:36I was going to be here
16:36They said
16:37We want to make
16:37A contribution
16:38So you'd have
16:39A lot of money
16:40Pouring in
16:40I don't know
16:41Shirley
16:41You probably don't need it
16:42But do you need it
16:43Okay
16:43Then I'm going to
16:45Have them send it
16:46Okay
16:46They've got plenty
16:48But this monument
16:50This is a monument now
16:51I think
16:52Will be entirely funded
16:54By private donations
16:55And located in the heart
16:57Of our nation's capital
16:59Near the Lincoln Memorial
17:01We will find you
17:02At an even better location
17:03I know the location
17:04You're talking about
17:04It just happens to be taken
17:05But we're going to find you
17:07At an even better location
17:09I think I have an idea
17:10That you'll like even better
17:11I got very familiar
17:12With the land
17:13I like real estate
17:14I got very familiar
17:15With D.C. land
17:17But the bill
17:18Creating this beautiful
17:19New monument
17:19Is named
17:20For one of the most
17:22Beloved Medal of Honor
17:23Recipients
17:24The late
17:24Great Woody Williams
17:26When he died
17:27Woody was the last
17:28Surviving recipient
17:29From World War II
17:31One of the most
17:32Dangerous jobs
17:33Of war
17:34And that's operating
17:35A flamethrower
17:36They say it's one
17:37Of the most
17:38Dangerous jobs
17:40Very dangerous
17:40For the people
17:41On the other end
17:42Too I can tell you
17:43But it's
17:44I'm going to have to ask
17:45Somebody why
17:46But they say
17:47It's like an
17:49Unbelievable
17:50Unbelievably important
17:52Unbelievably dangerous
17:53In the battle
17:54Of Iwo Jima
17:56He carved a path
17:58To American victory
17:59Literally carved
18:00A path
18:01So soldiers
18:03Could get in
18:03And win
18:04Through a deadly
18:05Gauntlet
18:06Of enemy strongholds
18:08Back and forth
18:09He went
18:09He just kept going
18:10Back and forth
18:11They said
18:11Woody take it easy
18:12No no I can't
18:13They have to clear
18:14The path
18:16And one machine gun
18:18Nest after another
18:19He knocked out
18:20And he did it
18:21For hours and hours
18:23People said
18:24They've never seen
18:24Anything quite like it
18:26Out of the
18:27300 flamethrower
18:29Operators
18:30You had 300
18:32Flamethrower operators
18:33On Iwo Jima
18:34They had a casualty rate
18:36Of substantially
18:38Over 90 percent
18:39So like I said
18:41It's dangerous
18:42And Woody was one
18:44Of the few
18:44Who survived
18:45But he survived
18:46With a lot of trauma
18:48We're joined today
18:49By Woody's family
18:50Great family
18:51Thank you for
18:51All being here
18:52As we sign this bill
18:53Honoring Woody
18:54And more than
18:553,500 other
18:57True Americans
