00:00The countdown begins for another of our quarter-final flashes here in the
00:06Commonwealth Sudamericana. And we are underway. Santos against Atletico Mineiro
00:14vying for a place in the final four. Santos in the all-white. Atletico Mineiro
00:21in the black and white stripe. Good turn.
00:26And Bontempo continues to come forward. Goes for goal. Good save. And on the rebound bounces away to safety.
00:37Excellent run from Bontempo. Running into the space and getting the shot away.
00:44Positive start for Santos. Freddo has made a midfield burst forward into the area.
00:50Looks to go past the last man. Gets the shot away. And that is flicked over the top of the
00:55crossbar.
00:56The fingertips of Gabriel Brasau. Excellent break from Fred. Capitalises on a poor touch here between two defenders.
01:05Didn't maybe have the pace just to get away. Nearly lost his footing but still managed to create the opening
01:11for the shot.
01:13Fiercely struck. And a good save in the end from Gabriel Brasau.
01:17Cross comes in. Gabigol knocks it down. There's the opener.
01:21Flags come up very quickly.
01:24Julien Arau volleys home.
01:27Little doubt from the official on the near side.
01:35Well it is very very tight. Gabigol. The player had judged to have gone a fraction too soon.
01:43His little knocked header down. Turned in.
01:46But that is perhaps closer than it looked on first glance.
01:51One of those calls that always looks a little bit more clear because of the fact that the defence push
01:56out.
01:57And by the time the player comes in contact with the ball.
02:02In this case the header from Gabigol.
02:04He looks yards off.
02:05By the time that ball was sent over.
02:09At first glance he looks more or less level.
02:12This is going to be very tight.
02:17And it might take Carlos Orbe in charge of VAR just a little while to figure this one out.
02:23I have a feeling he might be onside here.
02:25You can see the lines being drawn.
02:27You can see that leg of the ankle where the line is being drawn for offside.
02:33As that ball is sent in.
02:37I don't think Gabriel Barbosa is onside there.
02:48And there is the confirmation of the goal.
02:52Santos have their lead.
02:56Celebrations cut short by the offside flag.
03:00Now they break out.
03:05And the stadium erupts because Santos draw first blood.
03:09Santos crucially with the ball in the back of the net.
03:14Rolheisser scoops it down the right for Hodgene.
03:16Very nicely done.
03:17The full-back's there.
03:18It's deflected.
03:19And it's just over the top of the crossbar.
03:21It's another incisful run.
03:26From Hodgene getting forward from full-back.
03:29And with that deflection, that could have caused all sorts of problems for Gabriel Delphine.
03:39There is the half-time whistle.
03:42Right on cue.
03:44And teams all head off.
03:45And it's Santos 1.
03:46Atletico Maneiro 0 at the break.
03:49And in that hour's goal.
03:50Has the home team in front.
03:52In the tie.
03:57I'd have to say they've been good value for that lead.
04:01And we are back underway.
04:02Santos 1.
04:03Atletico Maneiro 0.
04:05First leg of the Commonwealth of Americana quarterfinals.
04:11Only in an hour's goal.
04:13After 33 minutes, the difference so far.
04:15Santos certainly, regardless of the lead or not, will be the happier of the two sides.
04:22From that.
04:23Still Fred.
04:25Playing through the middle.
04:26Looking for options.
04:27Finds one.
04:28Down the left hand.
04:29And Loggi goes for goal.
04:30Saved at the near post.
04:35Gabriel Brasal.
04:38Preventing the shot at his near post.
04:45Now.
04:46Lee Anko.
04:51Clips it down the right.
04:53For Franco once again.
04:56It's found Fred.
04:57Fred's going to go for goal.
04:59On the left foot.
04:59Bends it over the top of the crossbar.
05:03Offers his apologies to those in the middle.
05:05But it was worth a shot.
05:06Ball suddenly just appearing at the feet of Fred in space.
05:12Most in the situation probably would have done the same.
05:23But he's going to get another chance to do so here.
05:25This time he hangs one up.
05:26Chance here for number two.
05:27Saved.
05:28Rollheiser.
05:29Heading straight at Gabriel Brasal.
05:33And the ball away.
05:34Now safely into the hands of Gabriel Delphine.
05:40What a glorious chance.
05:42For Santos to make it too.
05:44And the balance of play then.
05:46Starting to look back at a number of chances now.
05:48Where perhaps they could be two up.
05:50This was where their focus lay.
05:52Gabriel Brasal goes for goal.
05:53And it's another good save.
05:55Gabriel Delphine down low.
05:58Turning that one away.
06:01Gabigol rallying the supporters.
06:03Again it's one back quickly off Fred.
06:05And it's a really good bit of forward play.
06:08This holding it up.
06:10Waiting for runners.
06:11And then just opening up that body.
06:13Shaping the shot into that bottom corner.
06:15Very good save by Gabriel Delphine.
06:17Corner in.
06:19Bounces inside the box.
06:20Gabriel Barbosa.
06:22Leaves it on the overlap.
06:23Another shot comes in.
06:24Another save.
06:25This time at the near post.
06:26Gabriel Delphine turning it behind for a corner.
06:29And I said go.
06:30Athletic on the end.
06:31I needed a spell of pressure.
06:33They needed momentum.
06:34Well all of the momentum.
06:35And all of that pressure is coming from the home team.
06:37Pushing for a second.
06:47Another corner sent in.
06:49Into the six yard box.
06:50Another tumble with arms open.
06:52Looking for a penalty that's not given.
06:55Down the line.
06:56Cross sent back in.
06:58But now can't bring it under control.
07:00The shot that eventually comes in from Gabriel Beldenbo.
07:03Sent high over the crossbar.
07:10This is a very, very good spell.
07:12From Santos.
07:13And if they could find a second.
07:15They would land themselves.
07:18In a brilliant.
07:20And that's another bad giveaway.
07:21This could be number two.
07:22Gabigol tries to go around the keeper.
07:25Gabriel Delphine denies him.
07:27Danger not yet averted.
07:29Gabigol.
07:30With the cross in.
07:31And there's the second.
07:32It's been coming.
07:34Santos double their leads.
07:36And it really has been knocking on the door.
07:45Neymar.
07:46Like every Santos fan right now.
07:51Enjoying every single second of this.
07:56Christian Oliver.
07:58With the goal.
07:59And it comes from another costly mistake.
08:02Gabriel Delphine does his part.
08:04As he has done in the last five or ten minutes.
08:05with another save to tonight Gabriel Barbosa initially but it will be another assist for
08:11Gabigol keeping his cool to find the pass with the outside of the boots and it's a fine fine
08:18finish turned in on the volley by Oliver to double the lead Santos now in firm control of
08:28this tight with Atletico Monero on the ropes break on here Gustavo Scarpa leading the way for
08:36Atletico finds a pass Fred comes in field onto his left foot goes for goal and it's a good save

10:03a massive advantage going into next week's second leg
