00:00Show your team you're ready to go and stop pussyfooting around the notion
00:03I need to be perfect.
00:05Get out there and support your team and be your quarterback
00:08and be the alpha.
00:10I get it.
00:11I just, I don't know what Michael Penix can be in six weeks
00:19if he feels better.
00:20I know that there were moments, he went to New England last year,
00:24threw three touchdown passes to Drake London,
00:26had us tied up to a team that won like eight in a row
00:28and looked like the guy.
00:30First game last year, he had that running touchdown against Tampa,
00:33should have won the game.
00:34Young Way Koo, of course, misses a chip shot at the end of the game
00:38that would have put it in overtime.
00:39Like, there are moments, I watch them in college,
00:41but listen, you know my prediction.
00:43My prediction is that Michael Penix will be playing for other teams
00:45down the line and it's never going to be in Atlanta.
00:48My prediction is we're drafting in the top ten this year
00:51and we're going to be looking at everybody from Arch Manning
00:54to insert, you know, a litany of No. 1 quarterbacks.
00:59And by the way, they're changing by the week.
01:01Yeah.
01:01They're changing by the week.
01:02Right, in terms of who the hype is around.
01:04Yeah, the Dante Moore look good and then it's CJ Carr
01:07and Trinidad Chambliss.
01:09Darren Mensah.
01:10Darren Mensah, right.
01:11By the way, if you're waking up this morning,
01:13he's your odds favorite for the Heisman.
01:15Well, he's going to have crazy numbers there
01:17because of his receiving group and because of the ACC schedule.
01:21Like, he should be at the top.
01:22Betting tip, the guy, and forgive me for not remembering his name,
01:25on SportsCenter last night with Matt Berry,
01:27he was saying that the bargain could be Arch Manning.
01:31It's at plus 950 this morning.
01:33He said if they come out Saturday, you will not get that deal.
01:37You will not get that bargain.
01:38404-726-0929.
01:40404-726-0929.
01:42So, it would be fabulous if Michael Penix took the reins
01:46and this offense started clicking
01:48and all those weapons that you got around him.
01:50He figured out how to utilize Zachariah Branch
01:52and keep using B. John Robinson
01:53and making Drake London the elite receiver that he is.
01:56It would be awesome.
01:57But he told you, and the reason he played the Cam Newton
01:59is just reiterating, that's what he thought three, four weeks ago.
02:03That's what he thought yesterday.
02:05That's what's going on in Michael Penix Jr.'s head.
02:07Matt Ryan very well may be sitting up there in that big office
02:10and shaking his head like, I...
02:13But he never had three ACLs.
02:15Right.
02:15He never had these kind of injuries.
02:17So, you know, if you're a Falcon fan hanging in there
02:22with Michael Penix Jr., you're doing what you should
02:24because, you know, he's your first-round pick
02:27that was an eighth pick overall.
02:28And when you watch Drake May tonight,
02:31who'll be quarterback for the Patriots for the next decade,
02:33when you watch Jaden Daniels,
02:36when you watch Caleb Williams,
02:38when you watch Bo Nix,
02:41you're going to go, why can't we have one of those?
02:43Because it's the same draft class.
02:45And it's right around where those guys were drafted.
02:47And we don't have that right now.
02:49And I don't think it's going to happen for him here.
02:52And I'm not really angry with him.
02:55Should we have drafted a guy in his mid-20s
02:57with two ACLs and multiple injuries,
02:59and now he gets a third ACL?
03:01Probably not.
03:02We definitely shouldn't have drafted him
03:03once we paid Kirk Cousins.
03:05It was the most controversial
03:06and the most ripped pick.
03:08The most ripped pick maybe in NFL history.
03:11And it has come to fruition.
03:14Horrendous pick.
03:15Could have got the best D-lineman out there.
03:20Could have improved your weapons for Kirk Cousins.
03:23Could have done a lot of things.
03:24So, you know, as a fan,
03:27maybe you are thinking he's soft.
03:29404-726-0929.
03:31Maybe you think his future is bright.
03:33Give him time.
03:34Maybe you think Tua's going to do something on Sunday
03:37that we don't see coming.
03:39And if Tua doesn't play well,
03:41I do believe,
03:43I don't know that Michael cares,
03:45but Sandra, if we come in here
03:47and we lose 20-6,
03:49we lose 23-10,
03:51and Tua looks like, you know,
03:53puts it on the ground again,
03:55has a turnover, an interception,
03:58can't throw the football
03:59because he can't handle the pass rush
04:01because he's not that mobile.
04:02I mean, it is going to be ramped up
04:05for Michael Penix to get out.
04:06You're not kidding.
04:07It is going to be ramped up.
04:08So, Michael better be ready for that.
04:11Hey, don't forget,
04:11tonight, Atlanta United in action.
04:13Orlando City's in town
04:14at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
04:167.30, the fun starts.
04:17Our pregame with Abe Gordon
04:18is at 6.30.
04:19And I want to remind you also,
04:20Jason Longshore
04:21does an amazing soccer show,
04:23Atlanta Soccer,
04:23tonight every single Tuesday.
04:25It's brought to you by Ford.
04:26Visit your local Ford dealer.
04:28You know, if I had to bet the game,
04:31I would not feel great
04:32betting Pittsburgh
04:34because Vegas is telling us
04:36that these rosters are the same.
04:38It's a three
04:38or three and a half point spread.
04:41I promise you,
04:42you get three points.
04:43You don't get three points
04:44in Atlanta, maybe,
04:45but you get three points
04:46in Pittsburgh, man.
04:48You get three points
04:49for Aaron Rodgers,
04:50who they got four quarterbacks themselves.
04:52He ain't going to play
04:52the 17 games.
04:53You know that.
04:54So, you know,
04:56you get three points
04:57and basically they're telling you
04:59the rosters are even.
05:00Now, I know why they're saying that.
05:01We have better offensive players
05:03than they do.
05:04We have B. John Robinson.
05:05We have Drake London.
05:07They don't have anybody,
05:08you could argue,
05:09as good as those two guys, right?
05:11So, Will McFadden,
05:12who works for the Atlanta Falcons website,
05:15found this.
05:16Tua's last start
05:17came in week 15
05:18of the 25 season
05:19against the Steelers.
05:20He was 22 of 28,
05:23253,
05:24two touchdowns,
05:25one pick in the game.
05:26Yeah.
05:26So, stranger things have happened.
05:28Yeah, listen,
05:28I mean,
05:29that's the beauty
05:29of what we do for a living.
05:31Sonny,
05:32Peachtree City,
05:33you're on Sports Radio,
05:3492.9 The Game.
05:35Yeah,
05:36why can't we let Matt Ryan
05:38suit up
05:38and be the president
05:39of football
05:40and our quarterback?
05:41Because the Falcons
05:41haven't been the same
05:42since he took that uniform off.
05:44Yeah, well,
05:45because he played
05:45five years ago
05:46and he had a horrible year.
05:47That was his final year.
05:48That's when all this started.
05:50And that's when we get
05:51signed to Sean Watson.
05:52And that's why,
05:53you know,
05:53I,
05:54all right,
05:54let's get Troy in Woodstock.
05:56What a story would be,
05:57though,
05:57if he did suit up
05:58on Sunday.
05:59I had an NFL.
06:01By the way,
06:01that would be the greatest story
06:02of the world.
06:03He's running out there.
06:05Yeah.
06:05Where's Cooper?
06:06No,
06:07it's Matt Ryan.
06:08Hey,
06:09Troy,
06:09you're on Sports Radio,
06:1092.9.
06:11How you doing,
06:11Troy?
06:12I'm great,
06:13man.
06:14My call.
06:16What I heard from,
06:18from Pennix is,
06:20I heard scared money.
06:21And what does scared money do?
06:23By when?
06:25Yeah.
06:25He sounds,
06:26he sounds mentally,
06:27he doesn't sound great,
06:29Troy,
06:29mentally.
06:30He's checked out.
06:32He's so scared about his knee
06:33getting blown the heck up again
06:36that he doesn't even want to chance it.
06:38I'm scared,
06:39I'm,
06:39oh,
06:39here comes that guy,
06:40what,
06:41here,
06:41here,
06:41I gotta get rid of this ball now.
06:43Troy,
06:43do you have any empathy at all,
06:45though,
06:45for a guy that's already been through this
06:47and came back too soon
06:48and failed
06:49and had to transfer,
06:50you know what I mean?
06:51Especially the one in 2020.
06:53I understand completely
06:54what he's going through.
06:56Yeah.
06:56He's a young man.
06:58He's got his whole,
06:59he's got his whole life ahead of him.
07:02But man,
07:02he,
07:03we,
07:03we,
07:03we gotta have a quarterback.
07:04Yeah.
07:05Yeah.
07:05We haven't,
07:05we haven't had a quarterback since Matt Ryan.
07:07Listen,
07:08two things are true.
07:09Two things are true.
07:10We hope he is out there sooner than later.
07:12Well,
07:13something cool.
07:13Something clicked after the last ACL.
07:15Thanks for the call.
07:16Because he went out
07:18and he put Washington
07:20in the national title game.
07:22So,
07:24he's,
07:25he's wanting to feel like he did
07:27when he was under center
07:28beating Oregon twice.
07:29twice and beating Texas
07:31and taking that team
07:33to the national title game.
07:34That's what he wants to feel.
07:35And he had that feeling
07:37after multiple ACLs.
07:39After multiple ACLs,
07:41he felt good enough
07:42to go out there
07:42and just
07:43ball out.
07:45So,
07:45Patrick Mahomes,
07:47per Andy Reid,
07:48will play
07:49and start on Monday.
07:50He will be wearing a brace.
07:52And our good friend,
07:53our brother from another mother,
07:54Brian Finneran,
07:55has been saying this
07:55the whole time,
07:56Stakey,
07:57telling us both,
07:58that why isn't Penix
07:59wearing a knee brace?
08:00There's nothing to shame
08:01with a knee brace
08:02you've had to ACL.
08:04So,
08:04you know,
08:05we're going to watch
08:05Daniel Jones
08:06and we're going to watch
08:08the Mahomes come back
08:10and they had injuries
08:11after Michael Penix.
08:13Yeah,
08:13it's just,
08:14so it's hard.
08:15We're all massaging it,
08:17you guys.
08:17Listen,
08:18Brian Finneran also would say
08:19he's soft.
08:19I mean,
08:20that's what he would say.
08:20I mean,
08:21and a lot of guys
08:22are saying it.
08:22I don't,
08:23I don't blame people
08:25for being annoyed
08:26at Michael Penix.
08:27He's your quarterback
08:28and he's telling you
08:28I'm not going to play
08:29even though I've been cleared.
08:30I get it,
08:31but I don't know.
08:33I'm just,
08:35I'm just like
08:35throwing my hands
08:36in the air like,
08:37and you're waving it
08:38like you just don't care?
08:39Yeah,
08:40kind of.
