00:07abusing a two-year-old boy at a childcare centre in Mentakab last month. 26-year-old
00:13Noor Ain Ashikin Huseen pleaded not guilty when the charge was read out before Judge
00:19Jamaluddin Maat. According to the charge, she allegedly abused the child in a manner
00:25that could have caused emotional injury at a childcare centre in Tamankiramat Inda, Mentakab
00:31at about 9.45am on August 11. She was charged under Section 31, Subsection 1, Paragraph A
00:40of the Child Act 2001. If convicted, she faces a maximum fine of 50,000 ringgit, imprisonment
00:48of up to 20 years, or both. The prosecution initially offered 10,000 ringgit bail with
00:55one surety, while the defence requested a lower amount, saying the accused was no longer
01:00employed and her surety could only provide 5,000 ringgit. The judge allowed bail at 5,000
01:07ringgit with one surety and set October 14 for mention. She was also barred from interfering
01:14with the victim or prosecution witnesses pending the disposal of the case. Police had previously
01:20confirmed receiving a report over the alleged assault after a video of the incident went viral
01:26on social media.
