00:00It's preparation. It's the amount of time you get the story and then dissect it and prepare for it.
00:16And if you're lucky, the timing of your preparation matches the shooting schedule, and you hit moments that you didn't
00:32know if you could conjure them up in the day or not.
00:40But, you know, if you're working with a good director, he's aware of this too, and he doesn't push it
00:49or he doesn't demand it.
00:52He coaxes it along, and together you kind of figure out a way to play the scene with Kaylee and
01:07her storytelling was around a fireplace in the cabin,
01:13and it was really lit by that fireplace. It was really all there was.
01:22And then there was this girl that I had found in the snow, and she suggested that, you know, maybe
01:33she tells me a story.
01:37And I'm a little skeptical about the storytelling, you know.
01:46You know, I've heard them all, you know.
01:49It's kind of where I'm coming from, you know.
01:56But then she starts in on these stories that evolve in different ways and different places, and it gets pretty
02:09spooky for me in a way.
02:13And I tell her, well, I've heard these stories, you know, before about, you know, Dracula and that kind of
02:25thing.
02:25So, but that's what I found fascinating about it, you know, about the piece.
02:34And I was living in a kind of an extension of the house, an outside cabin, and I had workout
02:56equipment and weights,
02:59and that's all I did, you know, to stay down there, and so I had nothing but time on my
03:13hands to focus on these stories.
03:19And I followed them quite a bit, you know, the function I had was to listen, to really listen to
03:36me there.
03:39And that was a lesson in itself, you know, because I knew when I wasn't listening.
03:53And so.
03:55I'll just add that there was really no, Nick says coaxing, there was no coaxing necessary.
04:02It was, it was extraordinary to watch, I'm sure Kayleigh will agree that, you know, Nick would, could go to
04:12sort of vulnerable and emotional places very, very quickly and over and over again if necessary.
04:21It was the kind of skill, I think, that comes from just the lifetime of doing it and doing it
04:28well.
04:30And, you know, I was very happy with the work that everybody did and everyone brought something different and, and
04:38when Nick came on set, it was, everyone was, was excited and, and eager to see what, what was going
04:46to happen to be able to, to watch him work.
04:49And, and nobody was disappointed because every take, there was not a wasted take and trying to pick which one
04:55to use was really the only difficulty.
04:58Yeah, it's, um, I, I got the script, uh, and I read it and, uh, I was, uh, so enthused
05:10that it was not really about, uh, Tom.
05:13Um, it, it, it, it had all these other stories, uh, going along with it and, uh, so I called
05:22the agency and said, uh, tell Casey that if, if he thinks I'm right for it, I'd like to do
05:30it.
05:30Um, and, uh, and, uh, and, uh, and, uh, and, uh, and, uh, and, uh, it's, uh, it's, it's, it's
05:44really a, um, a pleasure to be in something like this.
05:48It's, uh, it's, uh, an effort of everybody, uh, um, uh, so that was the, the, the interest that, uh,
06:02sparked me was that there were other stories that were told in it besides Tom's, uh, life.
06:12Uh, so that, uh, that's what sparked me to want to do it.
