India's maritime security landscape covers 11,100 kilometres of coastline, 1,382 islands, and an Exclusive Economic Zone of 2.01 million square kilometres. Managing this vast area presents significant challenges amid evolving threats, including gray zone warfare, drug trafficking, illegal migration, and maritime terrorism. Unlike land borders, international regulations and the principle of freedom of navigation prevent sea borders from being fenced, making maritime routes naturally porous. In the wake of historical security breaches such as the 1993 Bombay bombings and the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks, where sea routes were exploited for infiltration and smuggling, the Government of India has taken extensive steps to strengthen the Indian Coast Guard and enhance comprehensive coastal defence.

00:30and in such a way, what is the most important thing for you
00:35in the country?
00:37What is the most important thing in the country?
00:38Gaurav, first of all, I am very grateful for you
00:41for inviting me to invite you to show me.
00:44If you can see,
00:46today our Veshwik-Ka Samudri-Surakshah Paridrishy
00:51is very quickly changing.
00:56Paramparek Saini-Chunotiyon
00:58with Grey Zone,

01:03the Madaq-Padarthians,
01:04the Tatskari,

01:07and the Samudri-Atenkwad
01:10such as the New-Chunotiyan
01:13are providing a new project for our Samudri-Surakshah-Adharnav
01:15to be a new project for us.
01:18So this is a very big challenge for us
01:22to keep our 2.01 million square kilometers of easy
01:27safe and secure.
01:29We have to say,
01:30to keep our 3.01 million square kilometers
01:35and the U.S.
01:36So, in 1993, Daud Ibrahim Kaskar has used a smuggling route, Pakistan, which has arrived in our country, 257 people
01:48were killed, and the new people were killed in Mumbai.
01:52In Mumbai, people were killed in Syria, and the 700 people were killed.
01:56This route was 15 years later, and then in 2016, in 2008, 166 people were killed.
02:04This route is smuggling, drugs, and terrorists.
02:13Do we have any improvement in this past year?
02:17First, first of all, can I tell you that ocean waves are porous.
02:26If you compare with landbroaders, the sea waves, then there will be a very distinct difference.
02:35That is, as we have landbroaders, are all fenced,
02:40and the international rules are prohibiting us that we can also fence our sea borders.
02:46Or it is impossible that we can also fence our sea borders.
02:50And as much as this is the freedom of navigation,
02:53all the ships and crafts that we have to use,
02:57they will do it.
02:59But, as you have told us,
03:01that in 1993 there was a bomb blast.
03:04After that, in 2008 there were a Mumbai terror attacks.
03:07After that, the British government had this statement
03:11that the country and the bharatian attraction had to improve the country.
