00:00Malik Fofana just gave us one of the all-time great Deadline Day sagas.
00:04Picture this, Fofana is an exceptional young talent who has been sought after by Europe's elite for years.
00:10After Lyon lose a Champions League qualifier, they decide that now is the time to cash in.
00:14Deadline Day morning, news emerges that Sunderland have agreed a deal with Lyon to sign Malik Fofana.
00:18Except, wait, a hijack, Crystal Palace and PS Arsh's former manager at Lyon have hijacked the deal.
00:25He's now going to Palace.
00:26Wait a second, no, he's not sold on it.
00:28He's actually still going to Sunderland.
00:30This is where the money-hungry uncle comes in.
00:32Fofana is represented by Roc Nation, who also employ Fofana's uncle.
00:37Sunderland's new offer, which managed to hijack Palace's hijack, involves a much bigger agent fee.
00:42They tell him to wait because Palace might match the agent fee offer, which apparently they do.
00:47So now he's going back to Palace.
00:48If reports are to be believed, he wanted to go to Palace for the football reasons,
00:51but his agents are pushing him towards Sunderland for money reasons.
00:54All this time, Fofana is at Lyon Airport with two private jets waiting for him.
00:59One on its way to Sunderland, one on its way to London.
01:01He just has to get on one and pick his club.
01:03Fofana does a medical in Lyon that Palace and Sunderland pay for,
01:08but neither knows which one will actually end up using it.
01:11Eventually, Sunderland's owner flies out to Lyon to talk to Fofana face-to-face.
01:16PS Sarge rings him repeatedly, trying to get him to come to Palace.
01:19Eventually, Fofana chooses Sunderland, or, if reported to be believed, Rock Nation chooses Sunderland.
01:24He's announced that night and will never know what Fofana actually wanted.
