Neha also shared her views on working in a show often dominated by male power. Further in the conversation, she revealed that motherhood has made her more emotional and anxious, adding that she gets shaky and loses all confidence when her children have a fever. The actress also spoke about the polarised views on the internet regarding parents who have a say in what their children watch, in the context of Roadies.

00:00Hi Neha, welcome to ANS.
00:02Firstly, a very congratulations to you guys.
00:0421 years is a long, long time.
00:07Like, how has, you know,
00:09how has the roadie journey for you as a gang leader
00:12to go over the course?
00:13I think the one thing that roadies has taught me is that,
00:18you know,
00:18when you're a gang leader,
00:20you can say that you have your voice,
00:21you must always raise your voice in a direction
00:23that you want to use it in,
00:25and, or you wish to use it in.
00:27And,
00:29I mean,
00:30it really has taught me that I have a voice.
00:32It's made me believe that,
00:34you know,
00:36you can be on a shoot,
00:39on an adventure,
00:40you can change lives,
00:42and you can be,
00:43you know,
00:45calling it work as well.
00:46I don't think there's any other job that I do
00:49in my life,
00:50personally or professionally,
00:52where I have so many twists and turns,
00:56so much to learn from,
00:57so much to teach people.
00:59And,
01:00I feel like there's a joy in which,
01:03when you're being put under pressure,
01:05and you perform,
01:06and at the same time,
01:07when you do well,
01:07you're not just doing well for yourself,
01:09you're doing well for other people,
01:10and they also look up to you.
01:12So,
01:12so it's great,
01:12the whole combination.
01:13Right,
01:14I'm having like a fun girl moment,
01:15because,
01:16I love you so,
01:17so much,
01:17you're like the epitome of confidence.
01:19Thank you very much.
01:20Not really.
01:21I mean,
01:21I also have shaky days.
01:23But,
01:23you know,
01:23in a show,
01:24which is so,
01:24which was earlier,
01:25so dominated with,
01:27you know,
01:27male power,
01:28male,
01:30male power,
01:31having your voice there,
01:33and,
01:33you know,
01:33putting your ideas there.
01:36How has that been?
01:37I mean,
01:38it's,
01:39it's,
01:40because I,
01:41in my head,
01:42don't have,
01:43any gender biases.
01:45Like,
01:45I haven't been raised,
01:47thinking,
01:48that this can be a girl,
01:49and this can be a girl,
01:50and this can be a girl here,
01:51and this can be a girl here,
01:52because you're a girl,
01:53or you're a girl there,
01:54and you're standing behind,
01:55or you're a girl here.
01:56But at the same time,
01:57to have respect for people around me,
01:59I think the combination of that,
02:01has never had,
02:02any like,
02:03sort of,
02:04I've never been in a situation,
02:05where I feel that,
02:08you know,
02:10I'm,
02:10I'm,
02:11I'm surrounded by people,
02:13where there's any,
02:15inequality of gender.
02:16And that's been my biggest voice,
02:18even when it comes to the contestants,
02:21where,
02:22I know they come with their stories,
02:24and I respect that,
02:25but their stories are also,
02:26that the girls talk about,
02:27how they're raised differently,
02:28because they're girls,
02:29and this platform,
02:30actually gives them,
02:32you know,
02:33a place,
02:33a position,
02:34and a point of view,
02:35that they can put across,
02:37keeping aside,
02:38the fact that,
02:39they're a girl,
02:40or the fact that,
02:42they're in a place,
02:43full of boys,
02:44but,
02:44it's really something,
02:45that I don't advocate,
02:47it's something,
02:47the show doesn't advocate,
02:49and it's,
02:50it really makes you feel,
02:52one amongst equals,
02:53as opposed to,
02:55less or more powerful.
02:56I'll take a leave,
02:57out of what you just said,
02:58that you've had your moments,
02:59your shaky moments too,
03:00so how do you fight that,
03:02and when have these days come,
03:03because I seem so confident,
03:04all the time,
03:05what's your fashion's autism?
03:07Thank you very much,
03:08I mean,
03:09I have a team that,
03:10you know,
03:10does stuff,
03:11and then I have a very strong,
03:12point of view in fittings,
03:13you don't want to be in the fittings room,
03:14when I'm doing fittings,
03:15I'm just like,
03:15no,
03:16no,
03:16no,
03:16no,
03:17no,
03:17no,
03:17I think confidence,
03:19also comes from a place of comfort,
03:20whether you're dressing,
03:21whether you're speaking,
03:22I mean,
03:23I don't want to talk about subjects,
03:24I'm not comfortable,
03:25I don't want to wear clothes,
03:25I'm not comfortable,
03:26but,
03:27when you talk about shaky,
03:28I think becoming a mother,
03:30has made me very shaky,
03:31I have zero confidence,
03:34when it comes to,
03:36you know,
03:37and I hope it never happens,
03:39but it comes to,
03:40actually,
03:41being in situations,
03:43when I'm,
03:45you know,
03:45looking into things,
03:46like,
03:48God forbid,
03:48once in a while,
03:49when my,
03:49say,
03:50children get fever,
03:53or they're not well,
03:54I'm so shaky,
03:55like,
03:56I'm,
03:56thank God,
03:57I'm married to the person,
03:58I'm married to,
03:59because,
04:01I feel like,
04:02he has to control,
04:04you know,
04:04a child who's not well,
04:06and at the same time,
04:06me,
04:07because I'm just nervous,
04:08I'm,
04:08the one thing,
04:10and strangely,
04:11I feel like,
04:11you know,
04:12all these years of,
04:14and there was very little,
04:16but it's right,
04:17like,
04:17you know,
04:17nothing would make me nervous,
04:18because I'm,
04:19not scared of winning,
04:21losing,
04:21proving a point,
04:22not proving a point,
04:24being right,
04:24being wrong,
04:25being told what's right,
04:27being told what's wrong,
04:28whatever,
04:29like,
04:29you know,
04:29that kind of stuff,
04:30has never troubled me,
04:31because I'm just like,
04:31hey,
04:32live in the moment,
04:32life is too short,
04:33you don't have to worry about it,
04:34but that entire ball of confidence,
04:37gets fully deflated,
04:38because I'm just like,
04:39I hope my children are okay,
04:40I hope they're fine,
04:41even now,
04:41when I'm doing my interview,
04:4390% of my brain,
04:44is just consumed with,
04:45child talk,
04:46and then there's 10% of me,
04:47that's just this confident person,
04:49also like,
04:50since you talked about being a mother,
04:52you know,
04:52and this show,
04:53this show has like,
04:54a very polarized view,
04:56you know,
04:56on the internet,
04:57in terms of like,
04:58parents being very,
05:00having PC over,
05:01what kids should watch,
05:03because they think,
05:03it's kind of,
05:04really awesome,
05:04and kids love it,
05:05and,
05:06I mean,
05:06I'm like a big,
05:07low-key star,
05:08so,
05:08yeah,
05:09and kids are also,
05:10I mean,
05:10kids love it too,
05:11and that's where the polarization
05:12comes from,
05:13you know,
05:13like,
05:14yes,
05:14polarized views,
05:15so what do you say about that?
05:16Well,
05:17I think that,
05:20you know,
05:21there's me,
05:23who's a gang leader,
05:24on roadies,
05:25there is me,
05:26who's a mum,
05:27who kind of,
05:30watches over the content,
05:32that my children consume,
05:33having said that,
05:35my daughter's eight,
05:36and,
05:37I've met enough,
05:38and more eight-year-olds,
05:39who are like,
05:39you know,
05:40we want to grow up,
05:41and become roadies,
05:43I think today,
05:44on this show,
05:45there's a huge,
05:46highlight around,
05:48oh,
05:48tum roadies,
05:49pejauge,
05:49or tum gali doge,
05:51or ek dusre ko dhaka doge,
05:52that's not what it is,
05:53we're in decade three,
05:55we,
05:56there are,
05:57there are stars,
05:59made out of these contestants,
06:01there are lives,
06:02that are changed,
06:03there are people,
06:04who get meaning,
06:05last year,
06:05I think we had,
06:07this wonderful lady,
06:09who was,
06:10I think,
06:10in her late 50s,
06:12or in her 60s,
06:13and she came on the show,
06:15and you know,
06:16it brought in,
06:17so much meaning to her,
06:18some people come here,
06:19for themselves,
06:20some people come here,
06:21because it's their parents dream,
06:22some people come here,
06:23because this is what they want to do,
06:24or give it one good shot,
06:26and why not,
06:27and I feel like,
06:28every reason is great,
06:29so today,
06:30if there are young kids,
06:31who,
06:32you know,
06:33are sitting and watching content,
06:35or consuming roadies,
06:36as a show,
06:37of course,
06:37with their parents,
06:38sitting next to them,
06:39I don't see anything,
06:40wrong with it,
06:41and I'm just ordered out,
06:42with my children,
06:43seeing me on TV,
06:44because I just want them,
06:46to know that,
06:46this is their mom,
06:47who's telling them,
06:48eat your greens,
06:49go to bed on time,
06:51read your book,
06:51and hey,
06:52your weekends are your weekends,
06:53so own them,
06:54but that's my life philosophy,
06:55I don't want it to like,
06:57that one,
06:57don't want them to get like,
06:58confused between the two people,
07:00that's all.
07:12I don't know about my most famous,
07:15or most popular roadies,
07:16pop culture reference,
07:17I mean of course,
07:18the two one,
07:19the two that I get a lot,
07:20is Tu Bane Ga Rodi,
07:22and it's her choice.
07:24Thank you,
07:25thank you.
